I strongly caution anyone working with Ms. Robbins to stay firm with your budget, ensure you closely monitor the billable project hours and also confirm pricing from her vendors if you choose to source merchandise through Ms. Robbins. I received pricing direct from her preferred vendor for a couple thousand less than the price Ms. Robbins quoted, even though I was promised a discount if we sourced through her. I also caution anyone working with Ms. Robbins to ensure you document everything. After terminating her, I received an erroneous invoice containing charges for inflated billable hours and activities that she was not authorized to perform at that time (e.g. rug and material shopping trips). I recently built a custom home, and I worked seamlessly with the various designers/vendors during my build process. Therefore, this was not my first time at the rodeo, and I started seeing some red flags with Ms. Robbins when she mentioned another client of hers went $15K over their $20K room budget. I decided to nip this in the bud before ending up in a similar position. Fortunately, I was later referred to a different designer, who is more transparent and respectful of my budget. Kevin and his team were sent out as sub-contractors for the tile repair. The insurance company paired us with a project manager to handle all aspects of the demolition and re-building of our two bathrooms. Long story short - we had a terrible experience with that project manager, and their other sub-contractors (the electrician, plumber, etc). The ONLY positive experience we had through the entire process was with Love Tile and Marble. Their workmanship was superior. They showed professionalism. And just as important, they showed respect for my home. These guys put down canvas to protect my hardwood floors and wiped their boots on the mat before they came in. It may seem like small gestures. But, through the 3 months of hellish renovations and dozens of contractors in and out of my home, the respectful ones stand out. After choosing my new floor tile, Kevin made suggestions on the pattern because of the imperfections in the tile (1/3 pattern, as opposed to the 1/2 pattern I originally wanted). I agreed with his suggestion and the floors came out beautifully! We also hired him again for other work, since we were so happy with his previous work.
