We decided to check out Pick Thai for lunch. It's run by a Thai family and they're located next…read moredoor to Subcity Donair. We dropped in on a Friday (around 12:45pm) and it was busy. There's two tables outside and another four inside. Service is friendly but it's a one woman show in the front. The menu consists of appetizers, soups & salads and main dishes (noodles, curry and wok). There's a daily lunch special ($10.95) but most dishes are in the $10.95 to $14.95 price range. They also serve bubble tea and other drinks (classic tea, fresh milk and over ice). There's a heat scale (mild to hottest); we went with spicy (middle option) but there was barely any kick at all. Would request hot or hottest if you want some heat. - Jasmine rice ($2.00) - standard fare. One bowl is enough for one person. - Pad thai chicken (N1) ($12.95) - we opted for the tamarind sauce. Good portion of noodles and the flavours were on point. One of the better pad thai's I've had in a long time. The only downside was that the chicken was dry. - Beef massaman curry (C2) ($12.95) - curry was tasty but there wasn't enough sauce. The potato was literally French fries; can't say I've ever seen that in a Thai curry before. Good flavour but wish they gave you more sauce. The beef was unfortunately tough and chewy. Clearly the meat they use isn't fresh. Decent Thai but not all the elements were there.

This is a great little family restaurant. The food is lovely and always good. Service is wonderful…read more Portions are large and staff very very helpful.

I was surprised to see so much Asian influence in Kelowna. I went to the Kelowna heritage museum…read moreand they had some information about Chinese Canadians who had immigrated during the gold rush/railroad building days, so it seems like a lot of them have stayed or maybe there has been more recent immigration of Chinese and Japanese and Korean people. Not sure, but I'm not mad. There are so many boba places to choose from! Unfortunately for me, most places in Kelowna close at or before 8pm and my boba window is usually a little later. I had committed myself to one boba drink per day, but it ended up being that I was only able to get boba twice on this trip to Kelowna. Fermosa is pretty centrally located between Kelowna airport and downtown. It's in a strip mall and has good parking. The interior is rather spacious and they sell other things like artwork and plushies. For food and drinks, I noticed a display of cakes and desserts. They also offer course have boba drinks. I judge places like this on their milk tea quality and even though the worker was checking her work with the boss and he kept saying it was ok (they both tasted the drink they made me), it really was just ok to me. It's not the best milk tea I've had. The boba was good though, so I think if you like other drinks like fruity ones or matcha or other teas, this might be a great place. The female worker who helped me was very nice. I was pleasantly surprised that the Chinese Canadians I interacted with this trip were so soft spoken and nice. Like I felt that they genuinely were grateful for my business and they were patient and kind people.

The place is bigger than we anticipated -- lots of seating for group games etc. I'm a fan of the local art featured on the walls and the Taipei 101 tower decor. The menu is pretty tea-focused, so I wasn't sure if I would find something caffeine-free for myself. Thankfully I spotted fresh taro milk somewhere (not on the main menu) and got very excited. Got it with no ice and less sugar, and it honestly was just as good as many places in Vancouver. Price-wise, the fresh taro specifically is on the steeper side ($9.15 after tax for a large) - comparable to the big chains. Should also mention that the lady who took our order was clearly Taiwanese, which helps with authenticity. Overall a very pleasant surprise -- would definitely return while were in here in Kelowna!

They offer a range of drinks including milk teas, smoothies and slushies, and fruit teas. I also saw a sign for bubble waffles. I'm surprised Kelowna has so many Asian eateries and shops. I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm going to make it a goal to try a different boba shop each day :) Today, we tried Cha house. The turtle logo is so cute! The lady making the drinks was nice and patient. I got a jasmine milk tea with boba and my dad got a slush. The slush was actually pretty tasty, not something I usually get. But it was light and refreshing. My milk tea was ok. Not the best I've ever had but also not bad. Price wasn't bad. The parking lot is big, but it's a pretty popular mall and so we had to walk kind of far to the entrance. There are quite a few other shops in this mall, so a milk tea while shopping might be perfect!

Milk tea was perfectly creamy and the pearls have the perfect chew and bounce. I find that even though you're allowed to customize your preferred sugar level that it can still sometimes be too sweet. That isn't the case here - perfect amount of sweetness. Get their wintermelon drink - super refreshing.
