This small park in the center of the square is known as Kimlau Square and Lin Ze Xu Square. Overlooking the Chinatown area its at the intersection of eight streets such as Bowery, Doyers Street, East Broadway, St. James Place, Mott Street, Oliver Street, Worth Street and Park Row.
There are a few noteworthy monuments here. The Kimlau Memorial Arch which was erected by the American Legion in 1961 to honor United States service members of Chinese ancestry who fought and died serving their country.
There also is a larger than life-size bronze statue of Lin Zexu in the square, who is regarded as a national hero for Chinese people. He was a Chinese scholar and official during the Qing dynasty. At least three films have been made about his role in the Opium Wars. The base of the statue is inscribed with "Pioneer in the war against drugs" in English and Chinese.
There is also seating here, a small garden area, but it's mainly brick and concrete. read more
