I have had to take back the boat multiple times with out it being fixed correctly the first time. This most current time is after paying 3k for new pulleys and belts, water pump, impeller, the boat never ran right leaving us stranded twice on the lake. The worst is yet to come, the house that service built, is a joke to me now. The gentlemen got upset with me asking for a part # to see if I could expedite it so I could keep family plans for the weekend and not disappoint people coming to town to enjoy the lake. He cussed on the phone and refuses to talk to me know. Each time I ask for he manager Kevin, he is not there. I am human I make mistakes, we all do, I am giving them a chance, but I asked for transparency and communication which I did not receive. No apologies ever just an excuse that they are human and they make mistakes. I understand this as a person who helps others in recovery, we all do. I am asking for simple service and customer service steps. Hopefully they can call me back to be communicative, set an expectation and show some sense of urgency for my time, my money and my plans. I would not recommend going if you want simple service, and good communication and putting the customer first. All 3 they failed on, and in an ever more competitive world you would think service is what would stand you apart from the competition.

I was dealt a terrifying experience while floating this "lazy river" this past Friday…read more My group was told this was a very relaxing, easy experience. We were told by staff that we "don't need to wear life jackets" because the water is so calm and easy. It was anything but. After the current picked up speed, I was met with a drop between large rocks. Unable to slow down or drift to the side and stop because of the current speed, I was whisked down the drop and my tube went flying out from underneath me. Attempting to hold onto my tube, I dislocated my shoulder and I am very thankful that was the worst of it. This place needs to encourage wearing life vests rather than encouraging folks NOT to. I am a decent swimmer and I got very lucky that I didn't hit my head on the rocks. Please please be especially aware of this warning before bringing your kids to this establishment. This "lazy river" was anything but. I should also add: as a very nice park ranger was driving me and my friends back to our car, one of the 2 staff members showed up and seeing me in a makeshift sling, clearly in severe pain, told me "just ice it and in a couple days it'll be fine." I spent the entire rest of the day at the hospital. Beware of this establishment.

We had so much fun on the Yampa River trip with Centennial Canoe in June that we decided to go on a…read moretrip on the Colorado River through Horsethief and Ruby Canyons with them in July! I'd been on this stretch of river before but my wife hadn't and I wanted her to see the magnificent canyons and paddle this fun stretch of river while enjoying the cooking and hospitality provided by Centennial's amazing guides. Mike, Nolan, Cam and Alba were our guides on this trip and they didn't disappoint. There's a surprising amount of work organizing a river trip from getting required permits, complying with government requirements, planning and supplying meals, providing adequate water, providing bathroom facilities (the Groover is the 'Gender Neutral Restroom' ;-)) as required by the BLM, working out shuttle arrangements, and more. Centennial does it all so efficiently that I suspect customers who haven't planned their own canoe trips don't even realize what's gone on in the background to make these trips as smooth and comfortable as they are. Each night after we had pitched our tents and those on the trip were getting together, our guides would bring out snacks and wine for us to have while they prepared dinner. Andy, a college professor and historian, was on this trip to talk about the history of the region and share stories of early settlers and outlaws that were in this part of Colorado. I've given this company 5 Stars, but I can also say that I keep coming back to spend time with them and repeat customers is a sign of a well run service. Luxury in the back country!

We gave this trip considerable thought before booking, and overall it was a memorable experience…read morewith several outstanding aspects, but also several areas that would benefit from meaningful improvement. First, the positives. The guides were exceptional. They were professional, hardworking, safety-focused, and consistently maintained a positive attitude despite challenging conditions. Peyton, in particular, was outstanding and deserves special recognition for his leadership, dedication, and ability to make the best of every situation. The guides are clearly the organization's greatest asset. That said, there were several operational and quality concerns that significantly impacted our experience. Our itinerary instructed us to arrive at 7:00 a.m., which we did. However, we did not depart until nearly 11:00 a.m. Much of that time was spent loading canoes and equipment, which became an all-hands effort involving guests. This lengthy delay reduced valuable time on the river. The quality of the equipment was another concern. After paddling approximately 15 miles on the first day, we arrived at camp around 5:00 p.m. only to discover that the rental tent was in poor condition. Tent poles had been repaired with duct tape, the zippers were broken, and the stove was not operational. Fortunately, the guide was able to improvise a repair, but these are issues that should have been identified during routine equipment inspections before the trip began. As a result of these delays, dinner was not served until approximately 8:25 p.m., when everyone was simply exhausted and ready to eat and sleep. Food was another area where expectations did not align with what was advertised. Prior to the trip, I specifically informed the owner that one member of our group was a selective eater who enjoys foods such as beef, chicken, pasta, and eggs. Despite that advance notice, dinner consisted of cheeseburgers on both the first and second evenings. While the food itself was well prepared, there was very little variety. The website references meals such as salmon and brisket, creating an expectation of a more diverse menu. Instead, our dinners consisted primarily of cheeseburgers and stir fry. Again, this is not a reflection on the guides--they prepared excellent meals with the ingredients they were given--but rather on the planning and provisioning process. River conditions were also challenging due to unusually low water levels. At multiple locations we were required to exit the canoes and walk them over shallow, rocky sections. While I understand that river levels are outside your control, it is something prospective guests should be made aware of in advance when conditions are expected to be unusually low. The most disappointing aspect of the trip was the take-out location. Rather than ending at a maintained boat ramp or designated landing, the trip concluded beneath a highway bridge in an area littered with trash. We encountered two homeless individuals living nearby, observed discarded garbage throughout the area, and I personally saw two used hypodermic needles. It was a startling way to conclude what had otherwise been a beautiful river experience. The steep path used to carry the canoes and equipment back to the vehicles was also covered in debris. Ironically, the two homeless gentlemen kindly assisted everyone in carrying gear up the hill, for which we were genuinely appreciative. However, the overall condition of the take-out site left a lasting negative impression. In summary, the people made this trip worthwhile. Your guides demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and outstanding customer service under difficult circumstances. However, there appear to be systemic quality control issues involving equipment maintenance, trip logistics, menu planning, and the condition of the launch and take-out facilities. Addressing these areas would substantially improve the overall guest experience and allow the outstanding work of your guides to truly shine. Despite the concerns outlined above, we do not regret taking the trip. The river itself was beautiful, and your guides worked incredibly hard to overcome challenges that were largely outside of their control. Our hope is that you view this feedback as an opportunity to strengthen the overall experience. With better equipment maintenance, improved logistical planning, greater menu variety, and a more suitable take-out location, this could easily become an exceptional trip from start to finish.

Our group reserved canoes a couple weeks out to do a training for a Boundary Waters expedition…read more The night before our reservation, they emailed informing us the reservation was cancelled, because the person who registered was a minor (17). So we got an adult to place the reservation on what appears to be their we portal. Had to make the reservation an hour earlier, which caused several folk to miss it as they were still at work. But turns out they are the real winners. Because those of us who went over early just got to talk to the manager telling us that they close at 4:00 and there are no canoes, and the reservation clearly was not with them. Who was it with? "Colorado Watersports"... well that is us, no reservation showed on their system, so they demanded to know WHO we made the reservation with, who did we talk to... https://www.coloradowatersports.com/ They claim to have no control over the web site. It lets me make a similar reservation for tomorrow. From which I conclude you should never make reservations with that web site as it is not for rentals at Colorado Watersports at Chatfield. Note: they made no move to get a canoe as they don't want canoes going out that late. Literally all the employees were just sitting around doing nothing except try to prove we don't have a reservation. Clearly they did not want our business. They did not provide any canoes as promissed. Do yourself a favor, look elsewhere.

One of the guides, Pete contacted us as was absolutely amazing. We learned about him taking his grandson fishing and even about his dog. Pete was in constant contact making sure we had all the info, directions as there is very poor cell service where we will be fishing. We even decided to bring special treats for his dog. The trip is scheduled for tomorrow and we are so excited, all our gear is laid out including 3 bags of dog treats. My wife and I left multiple messages with Golden River Sports saying it was for Travis explaining we were extremely happy about how wonderful Pete the guide for Wednesday is but not a word from the guide for Thursday. After days of no phone calls from Travis or GRS I called and explained we are not comfortable or happy about the lack of professional conduct from Thursday's guide or GRS so cancel Thursday but we are excited about how great the guide for Wednesday is. On Tuesday We finally get a call from Travis and he says has no clue about any of this he was just confirming our booking. I explained there is a big issue with professionalism and communication with GRS and we canceled Thursday but were very excited and were very impressed with Wednesday guide Pete. He stated " thank you for bringing this to my attention but I don't feel comfortable about sending my guide out with you. I said I'm just bringing this to your attention and love working with Pete. He said he was canceling our trip! At this point now I'm mad! I try to help this guy and tell him we have no problem with Pete and it's your company that has the problem. I then stated I better not see one penny charged on my credit card!!!so we drove here from Iowa, rented an Airbnb waiting to go on our bucket list fly fishing trip and paid all this money to squeeze in 2 days of fishing. Now I ask you would you want to trust your money or precious time with a company like this??? Buyer beware!
