I spent the night in this slightly run down old hotel, and the chef checked me in. We first had a lovely talk, and after unpacking and working in my room for awhile, I came down for a glass of wine and dinner. First, the bartender was under the weather but an amazing and great guy. I was literally the only guest in the house, and it was wonderful.
The menu is limited but incredible. The 4 course meal started with a salmon appetizer that was frankly spectacular. The 2nd course was scallops that were so salivating I had to FaceTime my wife at work to rave (she loves scallops). The 3rd course was cod on a wild mushroom / couscous / sauce base accompanied by Belgian endives and apple salad...and another vegetable that I honestly cannot remember!
Incredible, amazing, wonderful perfection. The head chef stopped by on her way out and I offered to do the dishes...then the assistant chef stopped by on his way out...two chefs and a bartender all for me...I drank 5 glasses of a remarkable French Bordeaux sauvignon blanc for good measure.
I never made it to the 4th course. This place is simply phenomenal. read more
