The reception space upstairs was stunning, spacious, and elegant, with breathtaking views of the Detroit skyline and waterfront. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. But what truly stood out to me was the staff. I have never experienced a team that was so attentive and genuinely cared about making sure everything was perfect. I watched them throughout the evening making sure my son and his new bride always had a drink in their hands and that they were taken care of every step of the way. And I have to give a special shout-out to the bartender ( i wish i remembered her name)! After I ordered my first drink and she learned I was the mother of the groom, every time I walked by, she already had one ready for me. That kind of personal attention and thoughtfulness meant so much and made me feel so special. All of the food was excellent from cocktail hour to dinner.. Even after the reception ended, Who i believe may had been a manager was incredibly helpful and took the time to help me pack everything up. Upon meeting Rob (owner), we were very excited about the lighting, DJ and photobooth we were going to receive from them. They showed us pictures and examples of their lighting and photobooth and they were the one vendor we felt so confident in. What we were promised was not what we got - esp. the lighting and photobooth. NEGATIVES: Lighting: HUGE NEGATIVE 1.) Our reception started a whole hour late because they were not set up (only 2 people running the photobooth, dj, and lighting) and had to start even without lighting, which did not get fixed at all and so lighting for the entire reception was nonexistent. 2.) We were promised a name monogram on the dance floor, which just happened to break that day, so, no name monogram (over $100+). 3.) We were promised a "white wash" on the dance floor for our first dance & cake cutting and the only thing that consisted of was a panel about 8"x10" that had LED lights that was sitting on the floor aimed at our feet. The dance floor was pitch black so our venue tried to turn on some house lights and our photographers had to go grab their extra light to shine on us so they could get some pictures of our first dance. 4.) We were promised pin spots on each table to light up each centerpiece - only a few tables had pin spots and the excuse that we were given was that the overhead lighting interfered with how the pin spots look but we had to turn on overhead lights b/c their lighting was nonexistent. 5.) We were promised uplighting around the dance floor and did not get this as well - only 1 pillar was lit up. Photobooth: The photobooth was poorly constructed and looked dated as the curtain rods kept falling down and the seating was unstable - the excuse we were given was that people get rowdy in the booth so thats why the photobooth was like that. When we met with them, we were shown a completely different photobooth and assured that all the photobooths were "upgraded." We were promised an attendant for about 80% of the time as the person would go back and forth from DJ to photobooth. There was hardly anyone there so my sister in law was pretty much trying to organize and make the scrapbook album. Only about 5 pages were actually put together. Our images were poorly printed: the quality was okay; however, due to "printer problems," it cut off the bottom of our footer on ALL prints. After the wedding, they agreed to reprint all of the images and mailed those to us (2 months after the fact); unfortunately, all of our guests went home with the cut off images. We were given a flash drive of images though, so that was helpful. POSITIVES: DJ: This was the one positive aspect of this company. Sam was great to work with; We met with him in person and he gave us a short example of how he DJs. We talked with him in length about the type of music we did and DID NOT want, and he met our expectations on that. He responded to emails quickly and had phone conversations with me to make sure he had the pronunciations down and the correct music. Our ceremony music went flawlessly and for the reception, we had a younger group of people at our wedding so we wanted the music to stay in the top 40/hip hop and Sam did a good job with that and did take some requests as well. We were satisfied with the DJ component of the services provided. HOWEVER, we were promised a "glam cam," which we were not given as well. AFTER THE WEDDING: We called Rob (owner) to discuss our frustrations and disappointment with services provided and he claimed that nothing had gone wrong in the wedding and that all of my claims were unfounded. This infuriated me even more as he went on to say that they had done nothing wrong and everything had followed the timeline we had agreed on. I sent him pictures with time stamps of our late entrance due to their inability to set up on time for our reception, poor lighting that did not light up the dance floor as he had stated they would, lighting that did not "pin spot" tables, lighting that failed to work, lighting that did not exist as we had agreed upon in our contract (i.e. pinspots, 20 LEDS, etc), and lack of attendant at the photobooth. Finally, my husband had to take over handling this situation as I was unable to deal with him any longer. Long story short, after many ridiculous phone conversations and emails, we were able to recoup only 1/3 of what we paid for services. OVERALL: Save yourself the headache and DO NOT use this company. They do not provide what they promise you and are not customer friendly when you are not satisfied with services (even with proof!). It was not worth it to spend the next 3 weeks after our wedding (when you should be on your honeymoon and enjoying your time as newlyweds!) trying to get some money back from them and then waiting an additional 2 months to get reprints.

I booked a one-time pottery class at Speckles + Splatter with my friend for her birthday - she…read morelives within walking distance of this awesome shop and this shop is in such a prime area of Dearborn - just a block down and over from downtown Dearborn and very easily accessible! I found this shop through the recommendation of another friend who had done their 6-week course here where they learned how to throw clay and then got to spend the remainder of the time just making any and all pieces to their hearts desire! For our pottery class, it was definitely very beginner and with a few more guidelines/boundaries. We were all given a certain amount of clay and led through the basics of how to shape clay on a pottery wheel. From there, we were able to shape it up into general "pot" shapes. Unfortunately, this clay/glaze/method is not food-safe, so my dreams of making a little matcha bowl for myself were dashed! But I still had a super fun time getting reacquainted with pottery after my few weeks of pottery class in my senior year of college before I realized it was going to be a bit too much for me and dropped the course LOL! NOTE: I would highly recommend not doing this class if you've got long acrylics/longer nails! My nails were at their longest length (had been growing them out for about 2 months I believe?) and it made it extremely difficult to shape the clay! The instructor is super helpful no matter what and gives you tips and workarounds for people with long nails, but I'd just recommend cutting them short (if possible) before this class as I think I would've done a way better job if I had done that with mine! All in all though, the instructor is so knowledgeable about all the potential and actual pitfalls people might make during this class and is super helpful in general in calling these out before they happen or helping you fix your clay after you do! I really enjoyed this class and I think my friend did too! Her and her husband are interested, especially given how close they live to the studio, in doing the 6-week course/membership where you can throw to your heart's content and I really hope they do that! I would easily do it too if it weren't located this far from me, but I'm over here considering it regardless of the distance because I had that great of a time!

Our event hosts were wonderful and gracious, but I can't help but feel terrible seeing how uncomfortable people were here. We attended a wedding here with roughly 150 people, and it was incredibly tight, hot, and uncomfortable. The chairs and tables set up for dinner were jam-packed so tight, that no one was seated comfortably, sitting with the tables pressing into our stomachs as we ate. For one person to stand up and leave the row, the entire row had to stand up and step out of the row to make room. There was also no room to move around between tables, and because of this, it took almost an entire hour just to get all the attendees through the buffet. Even after getting food, the lack of space meant nobody could get a water refill (which could've been avoided had they been filled before guests were seated), or get up to use the bathroom. Speaking of which, there were only 3 working toilets in the entire venue, one of which had a door that didn't lock, and apparently had flooded earlier in the day. I would strongly recommend ownership take a look at their liability if there was an emergency in the room with so many people and so little ability to move. In addition to being much too small for 200 people, the area set up for the dance floor is clearly not fit to have even 50 people dancing. With roughly 30 dancers, the floor visibly bowed up and down to a dangerous level. It also appears there is no air conditioning at this venue, the heat inside the building was incredibly uncomfortable, even when it was only 75 degrees outside. There were only 2 ceiling fans in the main area. What's worse, was the lack of water. There was no water brought up to the main area until very late in the evening, you had to walk downstairs to get more, and no additional cups were provided for anyone to get the water that was provided. Parking was also an issue, it was necessary to have everyone double or even triple park to fit everyone in, there is absolutely not enough space for a 200-person event to park at this facility. Overall, the event space is beautiful and gorgeously decorated, but is clearly only fit for smaller events of less than 100 people. I would highly recommend the ownership of this venue revise their recommendations for party sizes.

I have to say the crew was wonderful and very attentive. The food was excellent and we all enjoyed the view as the sunset. I would recommend this cruise if you had a large party of 200 or more just to have the boat all to yourselves. I do event planning on the side for some very prominent organizations and I have to say I would hire this crew to cater and to serve any day of the week.
