I love the tasting room feel and am a fan of most of their wines. Sometimes the tasting room staff is quite affable and gregarious. Sometimes, although polite and capable, they're a bit quiet and reserved. We usually buy a case when we pass through (and we get a discount). They also have vines for sell in the spring ($15). I would love to attend an event here. And, I LOVE their labels. read more

Stopped here on my way from Fayetteville to Little Rock. What a nice surprise! I got a whole education on wine in the region, the state grape (Cynthiana, such a beautiful name) and very friendly service. I like dry reds, which apparently means I was meant to stop in, as that is their specialty. I wound up getting bottles of Dragonfly Red, Savant and Cynthiana Gold Cap after doing a red tasting. I recommend it, especially when it is nice outside. The tasting room itself is also very nice. read more

This is a beautiful vineyard. I'm not sure if it is encouraged, but I took a short walk through the vineyard. The tasting room looks new and very polished. It can hold multiple people tasting simultaneously. It does have an air of commercialization though. I think the wines are a little more expensive compared to the other vineyards in the area. However, the staff is extremely knowledgeable about the wines which is helpful in finding the bottle of wine for you. For those who enjoy wine in and around the Arkansas area, this is a must stop on your wine tasting trip. read more

We came as a large group of 11. I wish that we had had service from the dark haired lady. She was fun. The blonde lady was so rude. I'll leave it there. Most of us purchased a bottle. We did purchase a port that tasted nice. Heads up; The menu lists it as $25 however the charge is $50. read more

I heard that Arkansas has seven wineries. So here's 2 of 7. Chateau Aux Arc is a delightful winery. First you see the interesting rock gardens, then you are greeted by the friendly dogs who lead/follow you all the way to the front door. Upon entering the tasting room a friendly greeting sets the mood. Discussions about the water reclamation system, the local grapes, and area attractions abound as wine is poured. A full flight is just $5, and you get to keep the glass. I'm wondering if these Midwest grapes are an acquired taste cause I wasn't crazy about the wines. Worth stopping by to see if the wines agree with your tastes. read more

One of I don't even know how many wineries in beautiful Altus, AR! Seriously there are handfuls. We went to three different ones, and I have to say it was my least favorite. Although the grounds are beautiful and the tasting room as well, it was the only place that actually charged for a tasting! The owners were very friendly though. I tried the cabernet and actually bought a bottle. It was very woody and dry, but I am a huge fan of the dry wines! All in all, stop by...it's the first of many you will come across, but keep going, because there are more ahead! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here during our cross-country road trip in September. We saw a sign on the highway and we're always up for trying wines in different states so we thought, "Why not?!" As we drove to the winery, we passed cute farm houses and vines; the countryside was lush and a nice change from the interstate. We pulled into the dusty parking lot and were immediately impressed by the large building housing the tasting room. It's gorgeous and certainly stands out against the Arkansas countryside. Walking up to the door, we were greeted by several friendly dogs and knew at once that this would be a warm experience. Inside, the tasting room/shop was open and inviting. A man in dreads said hello and a woman with curly hair invited us to the counter for the tasting. For $5 we tasted some great wine, met the owner Audrey House (the woman who greeted us), and heard the inspirational tale of how Audrey built this vineyard and wonderful building from a dream. However, we were saddened to learn that this surprisingly excellent wine was being sold mostly in gas stations (insert shocked face here)! The wine was far above what you should find in the same location as gasoline. We purchased a few bottles and I stumbled out the car (to the disappointment of my boyfriend who was sick of driving that day already and once again took the wheel). Happy, I entered the car to continue through Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. I only wish the winery had come upon us later in the day such that it would have broken up the dullness that is Oklahoma. read more

While I've travelled to 26 countries, the past couple of years I've chosen to spend my holidays in Altus Arkansas. I've enjoyed seeing the look of surprise from the locals when they can't pick my accent. I love the climate, big sky, and of course the vines and wines at the Chateaux. Great friendships and memories have been made here for me. I live in south east Melbourne Australia - between two of the best wine regions down here - and I rate the Chateaux as good if not better for its wines, landscapes and its wonderful team that make it a landmark in the Altus wine region. If only I lived closer! A family run business, Audrey House has a unique story, her story continues to her wines and one should enjoy them with an open mind. Each glass has a history of its own. A wonderful, friendly place to enjoy a very special piece of Arkansas history in the making - every day. read more

My husband and I came here on a weekday. The tasting room was completely empty and we received wonderful service by one of the owners! She talked to us at length about all the wines ( I loved the earthy tones in most of their wines) and gave us out of towners lots of tips about what to see and do in the area! Let me preface my comment with the information that my wife and I as well as several friends routinely explore vineyards and wineries where we live in Texas as well as wherever we travel for vacation. With that being said, we stopped in at Chateau Aux Arc at about 2:30pm on Labor day; there were two couples already in the middle of their tasting and another couple checking out. The woman behind the counter cashed out the one couple and then pretty much in front of us, pulled some dirty glasses from the tasting counter then proceeded to chit chat with the remaining two couples, brazenly ignoring us. Despite already being in the tasting room for several minutes prior to standing at the tasting bar, we continued to patiently wait for her to even acknowledge our presence...NOTHING! We were astounded at the rudeness of this woman representing the establishment and subsequently left the premises; we elected to visit the next winery down the road. I have never seen such rudeness in my life and the only explanation which seems plausible to us is that my wife is Asian and the woman working at the tasting room was RACIST!!!! I don't throw that accusation easily but I've seen rude behavior and this far surpassed anything I've ever experienced. DON'T BOTHER WITH A TASTING OR A PURCHASE FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!! I hope anyone who reads this review supports us by ignoring Chateau Aux Arc in the same way Chateau Aux Arc ignored us. read more

We stopped in here about a year ago while on vacation after trying a few other places out. The lady was very friendly and very informative. I believe they normally charge for the tasting, but they did not charge us, but it may have had something to do with how much we purchased. We stopped by again yesterday, went a little out of our way during our road trip and picked up another case of wine. We will come back and keep doing this every time just because we like this place so much. read more
