Great experience and the wines were very reasonable. Dog/pet friendly, took Pollo (the caique parrot) and Ryn (blue heeler dog) and the owner was very happy to see them and accommodating. Omg best place ever for up to 4 free tastings. Kasey was super nice and knowledgeable. The tastings are in a cellar. I truly enjoyed all of their wines including their Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mt Bethel Port($24). Their is parking for around 15 cars and the restrooms are on behind (top) of the tasting area. Enjoy! read more

There are 4 wineries within 5+ miles, each unique in style and atmosphere would not really recommend any over the others. Enjoy them and if your lucky they won't be too busy to talk and discuss the area and their wine... Very favorite winery in Altus! I LOVE the true wine cellar and that it's truly a family venture. We usually always stop on a Sunday afternoon and the entire family can be found in between the house and the cellar or just playing in the yard. Ask them about their horses! I never write reviews. However, my experience at Mt Bethel Winery warrants one. I have been there a few times, never an issue- delicious wine. However, I visited a month ago and bought 5 bottles, 2 of them were the red table wine (my favorite). The first bottle was bad- smelled and tasted strongly like nail polish remover. I threw it out. Sent them an email to let them know. I never heard anything. I opened the second bottle of red table wine two days ago. The same problem- smelled and tasted like finger nail polish remover. I called the winery yesterday. They were zero help. I live 4 hours from Altus so I can't just stop by. No offer to refund me the 2 bottles. When I suggested shipping 2 other bottles to me- that was flat out refused because it would be "too expensive." I haven't opened the other 3 bottles I bought there yet. Hoping they aren't spoiled. Extremely disappointed in how I was dealt with as a customer on the phone. **The review above was posted on another site and they asked me to call them (even though I gave them my number the day before on the phone). They are not willing to do anything to make this right on my end. The woman I talked to was the owner but didn't know anything about my call yesterday or the response by Mt Bethel to my review on another site. I was told "oh, that was by someone in a different office." She was very condescending. The winery wants me to drive 4 hours to bring the bad wine to them. When I suggested they send me a refund, she laughed and said, "why would I do that?" I will never go back there or buy their wine. They are not interested in the fact that they are selling wine that could make someone sick. read more

This was one of my favorite wineries when I went wine tasting through Altus, AR. The winery is family owned and very friendly. It does not scream commercialization like some of the other wineries. They also have a wide variety of fruit wines. Yes, I know that grapes are fruit. What I mean is some of the wines they offer are made entirely from berries. This makes for very sweet wines. These can make for good desert wines. One in particular, the strawberry wine, I think would be amazing mixed with some champagne. The champagne will cut the sweetness and add in some fun bubbly fizz. The wines here are also very well priced. When you decide to go wine tasting in Arkansas, be sure to stop here and restock your wine supply. read more

I heard that Arkansas has seven wineries. So here's 1 of 7. What you will find here is a small, quaint, family-run business that produces some very unique fruit wines (love the Elderberry Wine). Can't go wrong with FREE tastings (hear that Napa - free) and a gracious host who answered all my questions about the different, local grape varieties. Unfortunately, their 'regular' wines, produced from those local grape varieties were not quite up to par in my opinion. Worth stopping by to pick up a fruit wine. read more

A family owned and run Winery, run out of an awesome old stone building hand-built by the family, and with a truly classic, historic feel. A nice balance to Post down the road, which feels far more modern and less homey. Very small tasting room area with only one person running it, but absolutely top-notch service and attention. Several of the dry reds are solid, and the Sauvignon Blanc got the nod from my wino wife! But, the house specialties are fruit wines - and yes, they are sweet, but there's a reason they've stuck around since the dark ages. If you've never tried a few fruit wines, I highly recommend it. The Raspberry wine was a big win in my book. And the Port? Good gravy, they have two different Ports, and they're spectacular! Did I mention they're dog-friendly? Big plus :) read more

Stopped by Mount Bethel Winery this past Sunday with family and friends. While not as large as nearby Post or Weiderkehr wineries, I like Mount Bethel because its like visiting a good friend's home. You drive in and park behind the family house. Ghost the dog greats you and you step into the old rock wall tasting room with the uneven poured concrete floor. The inside porch has benches and the entire tasting area is always comfortably cool. Being with several wine tasting virgins, the group spent considerable time tasting Mount Bethel's various fruit wines. As if elderberry, blueberry, muscadine, and strawberry weren't enough, they now offer a red raspberry wine. One don't miss wine is Big Daddy Red Port, which features the oldest wine label still in use. read more

This is a wonderful little winery. They were very friendly, I liked all of there wines, but out of all the wines I tasted, Elderberry and Big Daddy port were by far my favorite. This was such a cute little homey winery! We wandered on to what looked like someone's private ranch and found a little cellar that was beautiful on the inside! If you have the notion that the wines at Mount Bethel are Napa-style, look elsewhere. Instead, they're fun, unpretentious and reasonably-priced. We go there every year and enjoy their muscadine wines. read more

when you step into this winery from the late 1800's you instantly become family. the grand kids are running free, the dogs will greet you. you can go on a tour led by the family members who grew up there themselves. you get to hear in great detail what it was like to live there, how everything was built and the extensive process it takes to make their delicious wines. nothing beats this winery! it was friendly, loving, great wine, and fun to go to. if you are wondering about the town they will tell you everything you want to know. the service was excellent and so were the free samples. best fruit wine I've ever had. I've gone back every time I've passed by Altus and i will go back every chance i get! way to go mount bethel! read more
