I can see why the thrift store shopper would love this place and i would bet it's primarily due to…read morehow well organized their clothes racks. Their toy section is extensive. I did find it weird that they had a section of brand new products for sell so it's not 100% used goods. Now I can see why some might say their prices are not discounted enough but keep in mind they have a free membership discount card you can sign up for. They also periodically have 50% off coupons for selected times and categories. Another tip is to sign up for their email newsletter. Now as for the legal problems the parent company (Saver) faced a few years back, Savers will disclose that it is a for-profit fundraising company; label, track and segregate donations so it can accurately compensate the charity to which the donor intended to donate the goods; if Savers accepts non-clothing donations, it must pay the charity, and Savers will prominently display and disclose the actual amounts it pays charities for donations.

Value Village has gone down hill. There are no fitting rooms, and no returns. Only exchanges. This…read moreis terribly inconvenient and makes literally no sense for a mostly clothing store. Buying clothing without trying it on or being able to get your money back is difficult. Prices are crazy too, I saw a sports bra for 25$, old thin T-Shirts for 8-14$, and jackets for 20-60$. Also, I saw donated dollar store items prices as double the original dollar store sticker. For 25$ I was able to buy a plain shirt and a pair of pants with 2 holes in them (as I planned to fix them). These are not thrift store prices.

"19 miles south of Calais & the International Border"…read more Halfway between the equator and the north pole you'll find the 45th parallel - and also the 45th Parallel, the best shop ever. I'm pretty serious about this. The guy that owns the place, besides having killer glasses, chooses some of the most unique stuff I've ever seen and sells it at reasonable prices. And it's not junk. And he's not a snob. You should talk to him - he's nice and smart. I can't say enough good things about this place. I guess the focus is home decor and jewelry, but there's more than that. Not just a store for women either; everyone should appreciate the unusual items here. I bought everything from various metal hooks with birds on them to a meteorite pendant. If you're in Maine, you should head to Calais, Lubec, Eastport, and PERRY because (it's beautiful and) you need to stop at the 45th Parallel. I'm not sure about their hours, so call ahead! Also, it might be open May - December. Allow an hour. http://www.quoddyloop.com/ep.shtml has some info - the shop is listed under antiques even though I can't remember any antiques. Maybe, though!

I LOVE coming here, its too bad it is so very far away. Half way between the Equator and the North Pole lies unique toys, killer jewelery, and superior gifting items.
