Not content with being the best bank in Tucson, Chase Bank at Swan and Speedway (and, Chase Bank at Country Club and Broadway) in Tucson, have decided on a race to the bottom--equal only to Bank of America in poor customer service. But, now, they have closed their drive-through windows (forcing more customers inside), AND they've closed off all but two of their teller windows. Oh, they've added an indoor ATM like Bank of America too. Can you believe that they'll actually tell you this will be better for the customer?! Well, there are many reasons why customers need to talk to a teller. In my case, I'm handling the estate of a relative. This means that I cannot have a debit card or use an ATM when depositing money (such as the sale of a home)--hence the need for a teller. There have been lame excuses about the changes, but the fact is, customers are herded like cattle to slaughter, waiting 20 or 30 minutes in one long line. Previous to this, one could walk in, see a friendly teller, and be out within a couple of minutes. Why the change? You know. It's to cut labor costs. Customer satisfaction be damned. Here is my old review. When I can find another, better bank, I'll move my money to a bank that values the customer... I've only been banking with Chase Bank for less than a year, but so far, they've exceeded all expectations! They treat my family and me with respect, courtesy and cheerfulness. Compared to the small town mentality of Vantage West Credit Union (see the frustrating customer service policy--lack thereof), Chase Bank at Swan and Speedway turns out to be the grown ups of banking: Friendly, well adjusted and educated! Here's a comparison with Vantage West Credit Union: If you want a credit union that will take your money and treat you like a suspicious character when you want to cash a check or withdraw money, then this is the credit union for you. My husband has been a member of Vantage West Credit Union since the 1975, but last week, when he went into the Vantage West Credit Union at 801 E. Speedway to cash a check from his employer, he was denied any cash back. They told him that because it was over $1000 that there would be a three to five day hold on the money. He asked them to call the issuer of the check and they did. However, the company was closed for the day. The issuer was his employer --a company in business since the 1950s. He stated that he has his paycheck automatically deposited from this company and has a home equity loan with Vantage West Credit Union, as well as his membership loyalty. They did not care. He asked for the check back after telling them that his relative had recently closed out an account with Vantage West Credit Union and took their money ($50k +) to Chase Bank. They didn't care about that either, but they were stunned. We drove over to our Chase bank. We walked in, filled out a deposit slip, asked for cash back and he had his money within 4 minutes! Oh, yeah, and the teller at Chase Bank bantered and laughed with us, hoping we would have a great day! read more

This is my closest location...I opened my Chase Account 7 years ago and the inside Service, and Management both here, and in their Downtown Flagstaff location have been superb always!!! But?...Lately?...This drive up ATM is eternally broken...and now seemingly permanently broken? (Over a month with a Sign on it but very unmarked or blocked otherwise?!!) I'm wondering if it is going to close? I came in for help restoring my bank account after getting flagged for trying to set up a square account for my business. I came in at 11:15am give or take and Jake directed me to Jordan for help. After going over things with me, Jordan said the last step to getting things back up was to go home and wait for a phone call from a banker at 1pm. I said great and went home to make food and wait for my call. 1pm came and went and I called the branch back. Jake answered and told me Jorda was on break but that Jordan says he said I had an appointment at some bank across town? But he had looked me dead in the eye earlier and said I would not have to leave my house and all I would have to do was answer my phone at 1 PM. I had to come back in at 2 o'clock and this time I had to ask for the manager to help me. Thankfully Vanessa was extremely competent and clear with me. Set off the northeast corner of Speedway and Swan sits a Chase bank branch. Walking in you'll find the normal scene, tellers hard at work as well as offices to help you with any account needs. I fill out a sign in sheet and sit down to wait to speak to someone. I need to open a checking and savings account and felt better doing it in person. An older couple comes in sits down and gets called right away. As he gathers the couple he mentions they had an appointment first which seemed a bit uncomfortable. There are various employees wandering around. I'm forced to entertain myself with a basket of candy. I get called, and follow a young lady into a cubicle. I mention wanting to set up an account with direct deposit and may I take advantage of the sign on bonus I've gotten countless mailings on and seen on the internet. Do you have the coupon code I'm asked, no I'm sorry I don't, I reply. Oh, then you will have to sign up online. You can't help me, I ask? No I'm sorry. This seems odd. I'm here I want to start an account, but I can't. I think I'll try US Bank tomorrow. read more

Wow all these bad reviews....well i hate banks but in all the years I have been at this branch I never had a serious issue, in fact when ever there was a minor screwup the manager would call me at home to make sure the problem was solved. The only issue I have is there used to be a dozen bankers to wait on you, now only one, but all the banks have done this to save money. It is still better than Wells fargo.... read more

Wouldn't bank with this branch if it were the only one in Tucson. Took my 94-year-old mother in for a 2:30 appointment to make some changes on her checking account. We had an appointment with Jake Rodriguez. We showed up just after 2:00. About 2:12 Jake came over and introduced himself. After discussing putting my sister on the checking account it was 2:30 -- the time of our appointment. Jake told us that he wouldn't be able to open a new checking account because he had a "business customer" coming in for an appointment and he was very punctual and opening a new checking account for my mother would go beyond the time his next appointment was to arrive. Wait... It was now 2:30 -- my mother's allotted appointment for a scheduled 30 minutes. I could be wrong, but the next 30 minutes was already allotted to my mother and if the roles were reversed and Jake's business customer was running a little over, it's unlikely he would have given that same story to that customer. Sat for 30 mins waiting to get a letter notarized and watched 3 employees just wander around. One lady told us it would be a ten minute wait and then went and sat in her office with the lights off. This was 10 minutes after they opened. One guy sat in his office, no phone calls r anything and only came out when he heard us mention asking for a manager and then said he was busy for 2 hours doing training. Like dude I just saw you stare at a screen and get up to get hot chocolate for the past 30 mins. That should be done before you open to the public. As a member, I stopped in to have a document notarized. They acted annoyed and told me I would need to wait 30 min or make an appointment to come back. I made an appointment for the next day, was on time, and 20 min later I was still waiting to be helped. I ended up leaving. I got no apology. My time is important to me, but obviously not to them. Since moving to Tucson the staff at Swan & Speedway have gone out of their way to make sure that every time I walk in they smile and call me by name. I haven't had that kind of treatment in decades. I always ask for the best (and usually I'm disappointed) but the staff at Chase have renewed my feelings about "banking service". read more

And a ding due to poor customer service. They've gone through some changes which makes waiting in line a LOT longer than it used to be. Also, why do they put the rude unprofessionals upfront to deal with the customers?? Seriously, the new tall guy with dark hair is a jerk, really unprofessional, and doesn't seem to know how to talk to customers. Him making fun of customers and the redheaded girl (teller) laughing along is really unprofessional, stupid, and immature. Don't make fun of your customers when you have terrible manners. Seriously. I have never had an issue with this bank until they put in some fancy atm in their lobby. Now every time I come in to simply get change its a 30 minute wait because they only have 1 teller behind the counter. It was far better without the fancy machine. read more

The only reason I gave this branch one star is because they don't have a lower rating. My employee picked up her paycheck from the office manager before it was stamped with my (her employer's ) signature. She deposited it with her cell phone. It was accepted without the proper signature and funds were withdrawn from my business account. Then when Chase saw there was no signature on the check, the funds were removed from my employees account, BUT NEVER RETURNED TO MY BUSINESS ACCOUNT. We went together to the branch and after waiting an hour we finally spoke with a customer rep who made some calls and attempted to find out where my missing money was. He finally located it and he told me he had expedited its return to my bank. He said it would take 3 - 4 business days. He left for vacation the next day! After over 7 business days the money was still not back in my business account. I had my bank call Chase to track down my money. The branch manager told my bank rep that she would expedite its return to my account and that it would take 3 - 4 business days. She then left for vacation the next day. Its been over 4 business days since that call (over 10 days total) and still no check. My bank called back and was told we may get my money re-deposited sometime next week. These people have no idea what it means to expedite the return of your money. They are very good at leaving you hanging and going on vacation though! I would not recommend this bank to my worse enemy, ok maybe for my worse enemy I would, but not for any one else. If you care about your money - take it anywhere else but to this branch of Chase bank. These people are totally incompetent, and then some. Michael K. The Chase bank at Speedway Blvd and Swan in Tucson AZ is the absolute worst bank that I have dealt with in the last 60 years. Poor service personified and do not listen to sincere helpful customer recommendations. The drive through insists on your identification and does not want to accept cash deposits nor provide rolls of coins and are not polite. The inside cashiers and even assistant managers are not helpful at all to handicapped - example today 7 Dec 2015: I am on oxygen, and since I cannot get service at drive through I went inside without lugging heavy oxygen concentrator, and requested assist mgr assistance and told him I am on oxygen and must get help fast since they had only one teller and 22 people in line. He ignored me and I had to hurry back to my oxygen in car. I am looking for a good local bank. Why not band together against this terrible monster bank. read more

no phone number in the phone book, got the phone no off the internet , no one answers, call the corporate offices ect,and they cannot reach them due to no pick up. Get a call, the needed papers are to be sent, by Carol ass't mgr, who is not to blame, who does her best, and who it seems is being made the scape goat for some incompetent people. She sends me mail and it never gets here with the right address and it is a disaster. I am on my way now, having just gotten out of the hospital to get it. Since opening the account whatta mess, and it is sad. My husband has been with this bank , and the other two owner for over fifty years.They cannot answer the phone, as they have no help. Cut in forces; workers were sent to other banks; people called in sick; and every other reason. the reason for the cut in forces is that people use the internet.
