I also like that there are so many Chase locations throughout my travels. Lots of seating areas. If you need other than basic teller needs, there is a sign-in area in the middle of the ground floor. The service I received here and at the Evergreen location was so bad, I closed my account after leaving. The assistant manager, Jose, couldn't be bothered to show some empathy or offer an apology. Visiting the bank during the pandemic! Have been banking here for 40 years, before they even had ATMs -they had them on the East Coast in the late 1970s, before coming to CA. Used to be called Washington Mutual, until Chase took over. It is rare that I come inside the bank, as usually only have to deposit checks or withdraw cash from the ATM. Often saw the $140,000 BMW I8 roadster recharging in the front parking lot. Didn't know Bank branch managers earned that much. Today I have to deposit a check. Ever since the ATM shredded my check in 2017 -see previous review-I take pictures of all my checks, and deposit them directly inside the bank. Got to remember that the banks close at 4pm on weekdays, due to the pandemic. A bank visit is different in these pandemic times. When I use the ATM I always wash my hands afterwards either at home or using hand sanitizer. So have to remember not to touch my face on the 12 minute walk home. Got to wear a mask as can't 6 feet social distance from oncoming pedestrians on the four foot wide sidewalks next to the 8 lane busy Mathilda Ave. One bank door entrance for entry, and one door entrance for exit, to minimize people passing each other in opposite direction. Doors open, so you don't have to touch any handles. Also the cross ventilation blows any coronavirus droplets downwind to the floor. Masks required. I usually move money from my joint trust Bank of America account to my Chase account using their on line banking tool. But limited to $10,000 per transaction, one transaction per day, and takes 2-3 business days for the transaction to go through -1960s technology in 2020. Not designed for transactions involving high 6 figures. Chase would put a hold on the check for 10 days, or 7 business days. And forget about wiring money, as $25,000 limit. We're talking about 30 times that much. World turned up side down. The tellers wear masks behind plexiglass barriers, and all the bank officers wear masks. Like they were going to rob you, the customer! Got to use the pen to fill out the deposit slip. Recognize a senior Chinese lady bank official guiding customers to the 6 foot social distancing markers on the floor in front of the tellers. Just like supermarket check out registers, bank tellers is too hazardous a job during the pandemic for seniors. As I leave out the opposite door, use the bottle of hand sanitizer at the exit, guarded by a junior bank official. And no wonder, as harder to find hand sanitizer than toilet paper in the supermarket! No pictures taken, as I remember my visit to the Chase Bank down in Almaden, where the bank official chased me out for taking photos. Thought me, a 67 year old Asian dude, with wife in tow, was casing the joint! read more

Needing help to resolve persistent, Chase incompetence that many hours on the phone with Chase could NOT resolve, I came to this Branch & was directed to Vo. She asked that I send her all relevant info. I did so, giving detailed background information, asking several pertinent questions, & looked forward to her promised, prompt & thorough response. After 2 weeks & no response, I returned to the Branch. Manager Hoang asked that I again speak with Vo. In her cubicle, Vo told me that the Response Team had reached out to me. "I never received a message," I said. "Oh, they don't leave messages", she replied. (Later, Hoang corrected Vo, saying that if the Response Team feels they have resolved a matter, they'll just close the case without customer contact.) The questions I had originally asked Vo were still unanswered, & the problem remained. Vo then asked: "How else may I help you?" When someone asks "How ELSE may I help you?", when, in fact, they haven't helped AT ALL, I silently acknowledge their incompetence, & know that I must speak with someone who is trained. I returned to Mgr Hoang & asked for her supervisor's contact information. Hoang said she could not give that info. I asked if she (& Chase) were ashamed when employees were not helpful. We were standing in front of Jin's cubicle. He immediately came out & said I shouldn't talk like that to a lady. Jin, however, was unable to suggest a better way to re-phrase my question regardless of the sex of the person I was addressing. Jin then returned to his safe-space. Jin's question, I thought, was disrespectful to Hoang. Hoang seemed to be a strong woman: she was trying to simultaneously resolve multiple disappointed customers. (Two other customers, like me, who weren't followed-up with, had to come into the Branch to try to get a document needed that day.) Given this Branch's low Yelp Rating, perhaps this was a typical day for Hoang, including being un-helped by Vo, & having Jin demonstrate in spectacular fashion that he assumed Hoang was as emotionally-fragile as he is. The only reason I didn't give this Branch a Rating of 0-Stars is because of Sonia. She's cheerful, helpful & efficient. Unfortunately, she works in a different area of this Branch. read more

As long as you know what you need at the bank/ know how the system works, you'll be in and out in no time for each routine visit. I never withdraw from the ATM, always walk up to front to request cash and I find this pretty efficient. A little research on resources available at that bank and ability to manage finances online, goes a long way--this also may prevent you from having to sit down with a financial advisor and succumb to products you may or may not need because the bank agents are on their toes, greeting you at the door and make sure you are helped. Shout out to this location's new Assistant Branch Manager, Kyle Foley-- who is extremely friendly and and my encounters with him has always been professional-- he looks you in the eye while you voice your needs and guides you to appropriate source and never pushy. As other customers have noted, Chase mortgage department is incompetent and deceptive. They cold called me multiple times to offer low rates, but once you pay the application fee they don't deliver. For more than 4 months, they asked for the same documents over and over again, give no closing time, asked us to open additional checking and brokerage accounts with Chase, citing those are "required" for mortgage, asked us to transfer our assets from other banks to Chase, but shows no sign to complete the mortgage. Multiple emails, calls and visit to Chase branch didn't make any difference. After four months, they asked me to provide proof for FUTURE company stock grants, not future vesting, but future grants. I told them there are multiple years of stock grant to verify income already, and they said the refinance needs to WAIT for next year's grant. This is ridiculous and again shows they just stalls forever and never intends to complete the loan. I asked them if we wait for future grant to be available the following month, when they can finish the loan. They said another 1-2 months to verify, so that will bring my refinance time to _at least_ 6 months. At this point I asked them to cancel the loan. What a waste of time. If you are thinking about doing mortgage with Chase, think again! What they promise they cannot deliver. Not only do you miss other opportunities to mortgage with better institutions, you are signing up for endless paperwork and paper-pushing. If you are buying at home, better stay away from Chase. You will not be able to close in time. If you are refinancing, go to other banks. read more

Home lending advisor never responds or picks up calls. Took months to complete a refi. They would ask for the same docs over again but never explain what was missing. I like this branch because of the two ATM machines (one each side of the building) and the drive-thru ATM. I am admit that I can be lazy but when I have my dog in the car I like drive-thru windows. I hate to leave my lil furry friend in the car. I can bring him into the bank, while he is in his bag, but the lines can get really long. The tellers are very friendly and I have never had a problem with this branch or bank. I just wish Chase kept their free checking accounts. It sucks that you must have direct deposit in order to waive the checking account fees. Chase called me to offer a refinance in June. The rate was good, so we filled all the paperwork requested, paid the $500 appraisal fee, got the appraisal, and now, here we are, 7 months later, in eternal limbo! It's December! It's going to be 2021 and we still won't have closed this refinance! We are long time Chase customers, we have very good credit, and have never been late on a mortgage payment. What's taking so long??? Every single month, they ask us for the exact same statements and other monthly documents, but for the next month, because their underwriter still hasn't reviewed our material and the materials have become outdated. What a total waste of time. They can't give any more information other than "COVID", and they had to re-run our credit because they took so long the original credit check expired, and also had to re-certify the appraisal because that too expired. Emailed and called the manager, as their email signature suggests for any concerns, but the manager has never called me back. Extremely disappointing service from a large bank like Chase. read more

But that doesn't mean the employees here won't be courteous, extend societal niceties and bid you a nice day. The interior of the bank has recently completed a makeover. The teller counter looks nicer than ever, the island that held forms and calculators has been removed, and you can sit down with a loan agent in a classy wood-paneled cubical. With Internet banking and now even the ability to deposit checks using a smartphone, the only unavoidable reason for going to the bank seems to be to get or deposit cash. If in the distant future we move over to a cashless system, bank branches like this will be a rarity, if not gone altogether. I had the most fantastic service here while I was out of work. Each time I needed to move money from my EDD card to my Chase account I'd have to go to a BofA teller, take out cash, and walk it to my bank. I don't know about you, but I don't keep cash on me in any amount, let alone that high of a number. So when I mentioned this to the Chase teller she brought over the manager and they told me I could deposit the money through the EDD card itself. I simply had to set up a payment schedule so it would do it automatically each month. Which was nice because I had had nothing but issues with the EDD card itself. Neither the EDD rep on the phone nor BofA tell had ever mentioned anything like this to me and I was happy I no longer had to worry about being mugged, pugged or thugged while walking money to and fro. Thankfully now I don't have to worry about it, but it's always good to pass on good advice! read more

This review is specifically for Max Bottaro, one of their Mortgage Bankers at this specific branch. Max helped my wife and I buy our first home and he was extremely patient with us and very technically savvy to help us get the loan done. A year later we still contact Max about various financial questions in regards to our home and we are surprised at how quickly he responds, even on weekends. I started working with a different banker to apply for a new home loan with a home selling company that forces you to work with a specific lender. The lady we're working with is a serious down grade from Max in customer service and technical talent. You've got a top tier guy with Max and I would rather go with him than any other Mortgage Banker. read more

Fortunately, Branch manager sits right beside and was kind enough to immediately step out of her office to intervene and apologize. She even offered to help and demonstrated leadership but I'm still shocked how did this staff who was more than rude even get this customer service role in first place. On a weekday evening, I went to the Chase bank to transfer the rental money to my landlord. When I was waiting in the long line at the counter, a bank representative said she could help me at her desk. Among all the people who were waiting in the line, she called me. It felt weird to me, but I told myself that she just wanted to offer help. So, I sat by her desk, gave her the money (which was in an envelope) and asked her to transfer it to a Chase account member. Her first question was "Who is this money for? Is this person related to you?" For sure this was not the first time I was going to a bank to transfer money and so far nobody has ever asked me that question. I not only felt strange that she asked me this question, but also twitched my face because without any reference, she asked me whether I was related to this person. I asked her why she needed all these details. She mentioned that it was for security purpose; so I said that the account owner was my landlord. I asked her why of all the people who were waiting in line, she called me aside. The answer was "Oh, because it was a bigger amount". Woman - I had the cash inside the envelope, there is no way you could have seen how much was inside that envelope. She was lying! Anyway, I was pissed off and tried to be patient. After a couple of minutes, she asked me questions like how was my day going, where I was working, etc. I asked her if those were for security reasons. She said "No". Then I said "Well, then I am not interested to answer any of your questions". She immediately asked if I was having a bad day. I said to her "Ok, you are asking me too many questions that I have no interest/obligation to answer them for you. If there is anything you would like to know for security purpose, I am happy to talk with other representatives, but not with you. You are bothering me, so if you could keep quiet, transfer the money and give me the receipt I can keep going" She apologized (of course, not from her heart) and kept her mouth shut until my work was done. What I feel bad about is that I didn't make a note of her name. I could not pass my complaint to the bank manager. I was planning to open a Chase account, but this whole experience made me not to go for Chase. Gosh! Next time I see her there and if she ever tries to strike a conversation with me, I am going to give her a piece of my mind. read more

STAY AWAY FROM CHASE AS A HOME BUYER....especially as first time home buyers. We nearly lost our condo several times during the process due an immense lack of communication and time management at all levels. We had to close almost a week after the planned closing date (more than 6 weeks from the date of contract). We negligently believed that since Chase was our main bank (accounts, credit cards) that the loan process would just a little, tiny bit smoother. My only experience comes from Canada where, I hate to brag, the process was flawless- from the people, time management, and just the no nonsense process in general. Maybe this is the case for all banks here in the US? I'm not sure, but next time around we are definitely going the private route. OH and to think the drama was over...when my husband and I went into the branch to set up autopay for our mortgage payment, we met with the loan officer and another personal banker. We were in the office for literally 25 mins....having filled a form out and waiting for the OK. Well, we finally were told everything was good to go and we left. 5 minutes later while we were driving, the same banker called and said he made a mistake and we would have to come in and do it all over again....I had to let out a big *&%^$@!!! read more

Nearly every time I come in this bank there are too few tellers. The wait times are long. And although none of the transactions are that complicated it just takes an eternity. When I tried to get a credit card from this location no one here wanted to help me or my bf cause they judged us from our appearances thats right they didn't even sit us down just told us to go away O.O I would understand if it was one person not trying to help us but a whole group just standing there telling us like we are a bunch of kids is to much My bf and me were new at this and didn't bother trying other locations cause we were busy at the moment afterall... Hidden fees are charged to 529 investment accounts.Vinh Tran is the VP who lures me to open investment accounts without disclose all the fees. When I emailed him to ask for more details, he is not responding for months or reply emails without addressing my questions. Never trust Vinh to manage any of your 401k /529 accounts. I regret to be a Chase customers for years .Slowly I have been closing my Chase accounts. Very sad experience since it's one of the closest banks to my home and newly reinnovate. read more

Really not much to say about this branch. After they transformed from WaMu to Chase, they did a complete renovation and the interior now looks pretty awesome. On a regular day, the lines are 5 min max, which is great if you're in a hurry. The tellers could use some lessons in being friendly. I once had to deal with a teller who barely even spoke. Not that he wasn't friendly, he just seemed very reserved and careless. It's not really necessary, but a "how's your day coming along" would be nice. Other than that, never really had any problems here. The financial consultants are usually very helpful, whether you need to open up a new account or anything else. read more

I love the drive-through ATM feature at this bank. One thing that I don't like is how they introduced me to this merchant processor rep who didn't work for the bank but who sold me on security in Washington Mutual (when it used to be WaMu). That merchant processing company stopped being associated with them even though I was. Then I got screwed when I realized that the sales rep omitted a very important fact about our contract. No one wanted to take responsibility for this screwed up situation. Anyhow, I was a bit disappointed in a bank that I supported for some time. Otherwise, I like the bank okay. Today, 6-8-2010, I went into this branch, asked the teller if I could buy foreign currency, Euros, and Travellers Checks. The teller said yes. The Euros would be here in 2 days and she showed me the T.Check options I have. I picked the T.Checks, she started the process and finished within a few seconds and gave me the full amount I needed to pay. I said I'll write a check and she said no problem. I started to enter the amount, date and memo. Then I asked who to make the check out to? To cash? She had to go and ask somebody else. That person came back, recognized that I had a BofA check(since they stopped selling T.Checks) and told me they can not accept my check because they can't verify funds. I thought something hit me. I asked "What???" You have my check, you have my ID but you can't trust me? I asked again "I helped to bail out your bank with my tax dollars but you can't accept a check from me because you can't verify funds???" "You have my ID! You know who I am!" Is it only me or does someone else see how f****d up our banks are now. They helped to bring our economy to its knees, they took our tax dollars to bail them out and now they don't trust us with a check from a neighbouring bank!! I have a like/hate relationship with this Chase branch. Pluses are it has a drive thru ATM and two more outside ATMs on either side of the building, plus it is in a central location near Target, Caltrain, and downtown Sunnyvale. Lines can get long but service tends to be prompt. Minuses: the service really varies depending on the mood of the staff, and it can vary widely. Sometimes they're biased based on looks. I get nice service if I'm in business casual, but terrible service if I visit by bike. I actually prefer biking but this branch lacks any racks to lock up, and it's a pain to take the bike inside. Personal bad experience: once when I visited, another customer held the doors open for me while several staff members looked on without moving, and then the manager asked me to leave my $900 bike outside. Umm, no. I told her I wasn't leaving my basically $1000 bike (with the bells and whistles included) unlocked outside out of view. She then made a big fuss about safety issues. Complete BS. It wasn't like I was riding inside. My bike is kept clean, has a stable kickstand, I was walking in, and bikes take up no more room than a stroller tucked away safely by a wall. She acquiesced but finally at the end of this, when trying to leave, the double doors gave me some trouble. Not only did the staff members just stand there staring and not helping, they laughed as one of the double doors literally hit my a** on the way out because I could not prop it open and wheel my bike out at the same time. This is one of those "I hate you guys so much" moments that really stand out. For people claiming to care about safety, they really didn't lift a finger at that moment to prevent injury to a customer on their property. It hurt like a mother. This experience is always in the back of my mind now when I go inside this branch. In fact every time I visit with the bike, it's always another customer who helps with the doors, but never the staff. I've seen them open a door for people walking in so....They really need to work on that. And by "that" I mean not being giant douches to their customers that aren't driving a Benz. TL/DR Central location is handy but service leaves much to be desired. Not bike friendly. read more
