I called Whatcom Educators CU, and the manager got back to me in about 10 minutes. Now I have a much better mortgage rate with WECU. I pay my WSECU credit card early and always for over 4 years. They would not increase my limit (from $5000 to $6000) without a hard pull on my credit. This year, I had a fraudulent charge on this WSECU credit card. That in itself is a concern. I did not get any notice about it. I asked them to close my credit account. Apparently, I didn't communicate adequately, as the closed my card, but left the credit account open. I went into a branch to figure out how to get the account closed. They stated that closing a credit account (with zero balance) would be a detriment on my credit report. I closed it any way. Terrible communication and listening skills with minimal verbal contact…read more We applied for a HELOC loan, online and nobody contacted us to prepare us for what we will need to put our best application forward. They just ran our credit before contacting us and made us a counteroffer based solely on the minimal information in their application which never asked for savings or other assets. No one ever contacted us to ask for income information or assets until after they ran our credit. Our credit is 750+, our payment history is spotless, and our savings are greater than our debt. The agent was very dry and impersonal the few times we spoke with her (twice for less than 5 minutes) and we felt like we were just a number the entire time. She offered less than what we wanted, even though they valued our home at a much higher value than we expected, and never acknowledged anything we would communicate to her about our assets or savings. She would just email us for more information and never ask for our assets or personal savings information that would show our savings are larger than our debt, leading me to believe they do not take your assets or savings into account when calculating loans. Thereby never having a full picture of our net worth. Our entire experience felt impersonal and robotic. It almost felt like they never listened and gave us a "take it or leave it" offer without discussing or reviewing all of our assets. I couldn't help but feel they were being biased. If you want to deal with dry, unfriendly people who will make decisions from little information and not acknowledge anything you bring up, then WSECU is the place for you.

They told me I needed a minimum in my checking account. They made a transfer from the savings to checking account so that I would not be charged the service charge monthly. AND then the next statement I get, there's ANOTHER SERVICE CHARGE! I got my Banner Bank Mastercard Statement today and there is a credit balance on it. I called in and after speaking with an agent for 5-10 minutes she tells me she will transfer me to the credit card department. The transfer goes through and once again I am NOT at the credit card department. The lady gives me the number for the credit card department and ITS THE SAME NUMBER I ALREADY CALLED. So I call again and ASK for the credit card department. The lady that answers is the exact same lady I already talked to who told just gave me the number for the credit card department! OMG! what the hell?!!! So now I actually have to waste even more of my precious time and drive down to the branch and have them take care of this problem. THESE PEOPLE ARE PATHETIC. This has gotten to be a habit. of misplacing, losing or (one time) stolen debit cards. I'm always actually uplifted every single time I leave this place (BECU). In customer service relations my entire life, I'm big on customer service. I always ask if they have been trained in customer relations, and I always get "No" Clearly, people like or even love their job there, and are respected by management. One time while I was waiting for a free professional, the concierge was young lady who laid out a bunch of investment plans for me while I waited to be seen. I'm laughing because I have no money most of the time. I felt like I was loaded, trying to place all my money somewhere so I can make more. She knew this and said yeah, we can just start with 5 dollars here or there and get you rolling. She was very consistent, but not in a way of arrogance, where I was getting pushed and pulled in all directions in a full court press to get something from me, as if someone was looking for a commission. Not even close Like everyone there, she was perfect. Done with care, true care where she didn't let go, but I felt free to say anything (professional). and I actually got interested as I was getting educated. I know what excellent customer service is, and in today's businesses, customer relations appear to be a lost art. AN after thought, maybe 3rd most important The air on the back of my neck stands up, when I'm not treated in a well, or even if some else is not being treated respectfully. Countless times I was reminded They are the onesith that sign your paychecks. I don't complain anymore, I just make sure that I compliment the person that has been professional with High standards. Many times, I'll track down a supervisor and rain on about how excellent a waiter is, or a cashier, that always has the best attitude with us whining about prices or whatever Hence, why I'm writing this tonight, as the young man with longer blond hair, was so kind with me. Smiles. putting me at ease, making sure that I was comfortable. Later that evening, had to go back and get my cane that I forgot. The Kid cleaning the glass and the ATM's, said, "Oh yeah, wait right here" He walked in the back, and was eager to get this back to me before they closed. Another smile, "Here you go sir" All of this stuff can seem really small? I feel it a little writing this. But it is not, it is HUGE! The greatest businesses treat their customers in the same way. I just like it, because I'm uplifted from this because I, and most people in this small spinning rock of a world we live in, could use a lot more of these types of exchanges. Regardless, located approximately at 183rd & Aurora in Shoreline. Anyways, I received a letter in the mail yesterday and wanted to get it checked out for authenticity with an actual BECU staff member. With all fraudulent schemes going on, one has to be extra cautious. However, I was wary about what kind of service I would receive after reading most of the posted Yelp reviews which were all across the board. I ran two errands prior and arrived at the BECU Financial Center - Shoreline at 0917. Checked in (had no prior appointment), barely sat down in the reception area, and was greeted by Esmeralda V to assist me. I explained my specific concerns and after proving my identity with my driver's license and answering her questions, she got down to business. The information provided was timely, clear, and thorough. I signed/dated appropriate documents to get this situation taken care of which was greatly appreciated. I'm glad I didn't just dismiss and shredded this letter or get frustrated stuck on hold phoning in. By showing up onsite gave me the information and peace of mind needed. Esmeralda V, Member Consultant II was very professional and provided excellent customer service. I also thanked the gentleman who was handling reception at the front of the office. I have banked with Mechanics Bank for over a decade, started in 2015 in California, and saw this location and was eager to come and make a deposit. Customer parking was well marked as was the entrance/exit, though I did need directing to the doors when I left the building. Entering the building, I found the deposit slips and filling out area located centrally inside the main entrance/exit. I filled out a slip and took it to the teller with my cash and identification. The teller looked up my account number and asked some clarifying questions. Turns out I was a legacy Mechanics Bank account and they were in the process of merging fully with another bank for the location by later in the month. The teller talked to other employees and called another branch to see if my deposit could be worked on, turned out it was limited access for who could perform the deposit for legacy accounts at that point in time. Another worker came back from their lunch break and started working on it. The teller was kind and made small talk and then directed me to a waiting area as the other worker figured it out. The chair I sat in while I waited was comfy. As I waited some music played on a small boombox on a table with refreshments by the chairs. Music played included a song I recognized from a movie trailer of a movie I wanted to see releasing in theaters later in the month. As the worker progressed they kept me updated, calling me in to their office when ready. As some aspects of the merger were processing, I was told there would be a delay to next day for money availability. The handwritten deposit slip was even on a HomeStreet Bank letterhead, a reminder the merger was still in process. All of the workers I interacted with were friendly and professional.

Recently had to interact due to a weekend mistake I made, which I quickly corrected on Monday. Asked for grace to have overdraft fee reversed since I haven't had an overdraft for years and I'm on a fixed income. They had to "do research" and then came back with a no hours later. This was after having to call back on Tuesday because they were too busy on Monday to even take a message without it being a complicated procedure for them. I'd move my mortgage if I could.

I love these small banks because they actually take the time to get to know you! I love chatting with the gals behind the desk! They have a app to check your balance and a daily text alert. All transfers arrive within 1 day which is awesome since I use Pop money and PayPal alot. Definitely recommend.
