I needed to use the restroom while waiting in line at this bank and two female tellers both said "we don't have a public restroom". I replied that I was a customer so would like to use the restroom. Both replied "you will have to wait until we are both done helping other customers." I then pointed out that I was first in line, which they could clearly see. Also, one of the tellers was not helping a customer at all: she was at a teller position but had no customer in her line. I was told I'd still have to wait. I finished with the banking tasks I had and then asked if they could take me to the bathroom now. You see the bathroom is located in a secure area, so they must escort you and use a key to access the bathroom. They said no, that I'd have to wait for all the customers to be helped, pointing to all the customers standing in line behind me. I persisted and asked them where I had to wait and for how long. Finally, they realized I was not going to leave without using the restroom and took me to the bathroom. The woman had to stand outside the bathroom door waiting for me (awkward).
I explained I'd be filing a complaint for their bathroom policy and the inconvenience it caused me, having to wait over 20 minutes for the escort.
I called this bank to get a phone number for their corporate HQ customer complaint line. It took over 10 minutes on hold and I was never given any number at HQ, only a number where I could register a complaint. Was told there would be no notification to me when and if someone would ever see or act on my complaint. For that level of service I had to write a written complaint. That took me another 30 minutes and 3 weeks of waiting. Finally HQs called me and told me they decided to handle the matter "internally". So I asked what action was going to be taken. Was put on hold again, 5-10 minutes, and Chase came back with a statement saying they planned to do nothing at all.
I'm a disabled veteran. I have unique needs based on my disability. I was in Ramona volunteering for an elementary school in celebration for Veteran's Day. Was on the way to teach kids about respecting their freedom and our way of life. I addressed my needs with Chase HQs and they acknowledged the inconvenience they caused me. But in the end they decided to make no effort at all to help a Veteran's needs, leaving in place an idiotic policy that hurts its customers. Seems to me, the freedom to use the bathroom at Chase is reserved exclusively for their own employees.
They get one star only because the bathroom was clean. read more
