The manager in East Wenatchee lied and said he could only give me back $60 dollars otherwise it would have to come from upper management to get me back the $180 they took from me. Instead of being welcomed as a costumer, I was immediately treated like a criminal because I used an out of state check to start my account. Even after the check had cleared ( meaning they physically had my money), they had contacted my previous institution, and I had started a direct deposit, they still refused to remove an excessively long, seemingly punitive hold off of my account. A manager there even doubted I had the funds after the funds were in their possession. I have lived in many placed and used many banks and I have never had an experience this bad, stay away from this bank. They set arbitrary limits for withdrawals, payment amounts, transfer amounts without communication. They lock accounts for these limit s no matter how many times you call them or talk to them and they promise to repair. They don't honor their own commitments and expect you to deal with it. We have tried for several years to work with them and have reached our limits. We don't want to go to a national bank but we cannot tolerate not having access to our own money. They send lock out notices and have you call a specific number only to be told by the customer seeking representative that they cannot see rhe messages and cannot help. It's sad because they do nothing.

Many months later, I write a check and go online to view my balance. The bank had initiated a $5 service fee and halved the amount in my small account by the time I noticed. Yes, I should have paid attention. The manager said he could only refund $5. The customer service response via email was smug and snarky about how I should have noticed the fine print at the bottom of a statement detailing the new fee was being added. Watch your accounts at Key Bank very carefully because they will add fees and hope you don't notice. I was almost too embarrassed to write this. But hopefully someone will be forewarned- and it was a relatively cheap lesson for me. I've closed all my accounts are Key.
