I felt like I was at a department store at the mall. One time I returned from a visit and realized they had given me $5 too much. If a bank teller can't count money, who can?!? I later left that job and started a new job that had a health and wellness event on site. The manager, the older blond woman and another employee that I had chatted with many times were there and they were so rude for no reason. They whispered and stared like I had actually done something to them which I had not. I had just left that job so it was obvious they were gossiping about it. This is the least professional and well run bank I have ever seen. After all this I obviously closed my account.

Today (12/08/21) I wrote a check for my brother who has the same last name as me. He is a non-costumer and from the moment that he got there it wasn't a good experience. There were about ten people in line and only one person was helping the clients while the other people sat around and talked. Once he went to try to cash the check, they told him that they couldn't do it because it was over the allowed amount. The check was for $5000.00 and the allowed amount is $4999.99. They also told him that for anything over $3000.00 they would need his social security number. I see no reason why they would need his social security number when the reportable amount for a CTR Is $10000.00. I called customer support and they also stated they didn't know why the cloverdale branch would ask for his social when it's not part of the procedure. My brother then asked what they would do if someone came in with an exchange bank check and they didn't have a social, the man simply said that they would refuse to cash it. For a bank that prides itself in helping the community, it surprises me that they're discriminating based on someone's immigration status. If they couldn't cash the check that's understandable, but there was no need for the man's rude tone and behavior. I can't help but think that since my brother has a darker skin tone, that's the reason they asked for his social when it's not even part of their procedure.

Cindy M. belittled my mother and made her cry over a situation that was out of her control. Recently, we lost my dad (they've been married for almost 40 years) and a situation happened where we had no control over it. Cindy told my mom to stop "writing bad checks and she wouldn't overdraw" while in front of other customers, as well as making another teller cry in front of my mom. Not sure why they'd keep a teller around that's okay with making a customer feel this way.

This is important to me as I can see the bank's profit going back to the community instead of lining rich fat cats pockets. Redwood CU is a full service financial institution and you can do most of your banking at their tiny Point Arena office, or at their ATM at Surf Market. I love that you can make deposits without a deposit envelope and it reads the amount on the check. Try them and you will be pleased with the personal service.

Even though I was given information about my mom's bank account today they will not stop the transactions being made with the expired card unless I drive my mother who is on Hospice 5 hrs to see them in person. Please talk to your parents and have things in writing so you don't have to deal with this stuff while you're going through dealing with losing a parent too.
