AWFUL BANK. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. UNPROFESSIONAL. AVOID AT ALL COSTS…read more Went in to our local bank branch (we live in St. Helena -- in a house using a Wells Fargo mortgage for hundreds of thousands of dollars, no less!) because we needed cash for purchase of a used vehicle. We had already hit the Napa branch, and they had told us that most branches limit withdrawal to $5000 at a time. We needed more than that -- and we previously were able to withdraw $9400 from this Saint Helena branch, which we needed on short notice for the house escrow. Since we had previously had no problem withdrawing a large sum from the St. Helena branch, and since the Napa branch told us we could get $5000 from pretty much any Wells Fargo -- with whom we have banked for over 10 years, amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars -- we decided to go in to the local branch before they closed and get the remainder of the cash. We go in, and are told they can only give us $3000. Say what?? This is to someone who routinely saves tens of thousands in the account at any given time, rarely makes large withdrawals, has a credit rating over 800 and owns a house with a Wells Fargo mortgage!! We ask to speak to the manager; someone comes out and refuses to give us OUR MONEY which we have in our account. When we ask for her business card, she refuses to give it to us. We ask for her name, and after 2 prompts she says it is "Lily Lacroix" (I have no way to verify if this is true, since this extremely unprofessional bank "manager" refused to give us her business card.) And this is in a town with many multimillionaire residents. Sofia Coppola went to school at the high school one block from this Wells Fargo. Nancy Pelosi, Robin Williams, Joe Montana, and Coppola (among others) have homes in the area. But we can't access $3000 of our own cash because "the bank doesn't have it." If you want to do business with a place that has no problem taking your money, keeping it, storing it, and investing it (while paying you no interest), but refuses to let you have it when you need it... this is the place for you! PS. We called Wells Fargo and reported this incident, and they told us this should not have happened and is not acceptable at their branches (and they raised our ATM limit so that we can access the rest of our funds we should have been able to get at the bank.) This experience makes me wonder if we should just close our Wells Fargo account, take all of our money out and keep it under the mattress instead, since the interest rates are essentially zero for putting your money in a Wells Fargo account anyway, so if I can't access my own money, there's really no reason to put it in the bank. They should change their slogan to "Wells Fargo. Together we'll go nowhere."
