The man in charge of untying the boat had not untied yet, but literally looked us right in the eye as we were showing our tickets and began quickly untying the boat. The agent at the top of the stairs just stood there making excuses, "He wants to start his evening off work and he wants to get going". He was untying while she was making excuses. We were so close to the boat. In America, we regularly give these tour guides a tip for great service. I'll give this miserable excuse of a man and his excuse making colleague this tip: Karma is a bitch and the next time you are having an experience where the kindness of the person could help you, I hope you experience a nice payment so maybe you can do better next time. So my two friends and I obtained glasses of wine, sat on top deck and enjoyed the tour. It was a really brilliant experience. Moving along at a leisurely pace, we saw all the sites/ architecture and heard the history of the places we passed. One drawback was that it was quite cold to be sitting on an open deck, but this was definitely the best way to see Berlin. Plus, it's so much more fun than a standard bus tour and a glass of wine enhances the experience ;-)
