Massive illegal homeless camps everywhere around here, AND GUESS WHAT? Did the overall majority of students and general public look healthy and happy? NO! Absolutely not! Also, these businesses are blind to what's going on. They have people begging for change outside their store, as they charge $20 for a sandwich? If I were a student here (CWU grad instead) it would motivate me for the wrong reasons to leave.

You have to really be on some of the staff to do their jobs accurately. I went through a course that had four professors quit in under two weeks. All coursework that I completed was dismissed and no credit was given. The reasoning is because each time there was a new professor they would assign their own coursework having the entire class start over again. It was really frustrating because excessive homework was assigned just to be unaccounted for. I spent so much time and gave my full effort for each assignment. Another course I was enrolled in, the professor was inactive the whole time and never responded to her students. I'm assuming there was no replacement for that instructor. The only organized professional encounter I received was from my English teacher. He was extremely competent and one of the very few attributes Bates has to offer. All the rooms are numbered including the bathrooms in case you get lost. The campus is "fragrance free" which is a new concept for most colleges and I love it. They have a big lecture hall as well as smaller classrooms. All the rooms and seats were quite comfy. After going here for a year they have a terrible attendance policy, no cafeteria, no free parking available, little resources for the students, staff that is under communicative. There have been constant issues with the little resources that should be expected for an art school to provide like printing, paper, pencils, food, free parking. Especially with the tuition we pay for it should be expected to have a little help. Although there are some amazing teachers here, a lot of the staffing issues are strange which affects the students here. Issues about my financial aid and attendance takes weeks for me to get a response. There have been three staff members from the same department one was fired because she was "student oriented" however was the MOST attentive and kind to us. Two left due to disagreements to the staff. Hostile work environments most likely. A handful of staff here come late a lot due to traffic which is understandable however it's a waste of the students time especially considering the attendance policy. Also the attendance policy is TERRIBLE if you miss more than three classes you fail your semester. Which isn't fair to the students because why should I be expected to be there if 90% of the time in your classroom I am sitting and doing nothing for "studio time" or assignments that could easily be done at home or at a students convenience. Your students are adults have other things to attend to, and should have a kinder attendance policy that doesn't make me fail if I miss a few classes? Thats ridiculous how can other colleges especially ones that are more affordable accommodate to this however if I attend ncad I could fail if I have a doctors appointment or i have car troubles or anything that prevents me from going to class. Also it's strange how they have a high percentage of lgbt students/ trans students but no gender neutral bathrooms? And accommodations to disabled students are COMPLETELY ignored especially to physically disabled or neurodivergent students when brought up several times nothing has been a result. You could get the same education if not better at a community college and I feel bad for the new students that have to learn this through experience.
