The space is on a quiet no-exit side street that you'd probably never stumble across on your own, but that means that it gets little in the way of random lost foot traffic and stays pretty tranquil. There is an open-concept area with motorized adjustable-height desks and tons of power outlets, along with a long kitchen island and some cushier seating in the front. Everyone gets access to free caffeine through a very nice espresso/coffee machine that can make things like cappuccinos and hot cocoa, and the tea offerings are from Harney & Sons (very nice!), along with a flavored seltzer dispenser and some snack offerings (some basic chips and trail mix-y things along with a fruit bowl). You have access to a large fridge and microwave if you've brought your own food, but LIC is also an area rife with lunch takeout places if you're willing to walk a few blocks. Bathrooms are kept spotless and the whole space is cleaned pretty continually throughout the day. You can also reserve conference rooms for meetings that have A/V setup and I believe the upstairs has longer-term spaces for people who use this as more of a permanent office. What I really appreciated from the few days I spent here were the events that the staff run for anyone in the space to participate in, which range from wellness-oriented to just plain fun, and often incorporate great snacks. I loved the tie-dye activity and it was set up so nicely! The staff here are always polite, helpful, and friendly, and I'd totally recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and chill (and air conditioned!) space to work that's pretty accessible for a number of subway lines.

The shared area has two things that are essential to most workspaces: coffee and printers. The community at PencilWorks is positive and energetic, while respecting each person's work day. Nathan, the community developer at PW, was always quick to respond to any questions or needs that arose. I now work from home, but if I ever need a workspace again, I'll return to PencilWorks.

In…read morethe 6 month span we spent here, we experienced: - a freezing cold room with no heating (windows were promised to be sealed but they sealed it in May, when the weather was starting to get hot) - frequently broken elevators (the coworking space is on the 6th floor so this was especially inconvenient) - frequently unavailable wifi - leaking roofs (the roof leaked on top of one of our employees) - extremely loud construction noises interrupting critical meetings / conferences - extremely cold A/C in all common areas (our team was constantly shivering) - an overheated room with no AC - frequently out of order bathrooms - weeks of no cleaning (even when regular vacuuming of rooms was guaranteed) ... the list really goes on. Plus the rents are at least $1000 more expensive than other great options in the area. It's a converted pencil factory, so it does have its charm, and we definitely would have been more forgiving if our concerns were dealt with. Not even speedily dealt with -- dealt with in general. Our concerns were constantly ignored. We are so disappointed.

You can get a coffee and use their tabletop along the window for free or book a workspace for $12 an hour ($65 for the day). Buying a workspace comes with bathroom, printing and private call space access as well as outlets, WiFi and comfy seating and free water. Seems like a great space. If you go in just to chat, they might even give you a free workspace just to try it! Open 7 days a week until 6pm.

We finally had to move out when our team outgrew their largest office. It is conveniently located near all of the major train lines and PATH and the amenities are great; hip cafe, common areas for breakout meetings and kitchens on every floor. They also held happy hours and other festive events where we could mingle with the other tenants. We held numerous clients meetings and offsites in their conference rooms and all of our service requests were all taken care of quickly. Every single member of the staff; from the mail room and reception to facilities, IT, cafe and management, all went above and beyond to make our lives easier. We will miss the fun, upbeat environment and true professionalism of their team!

She is the director of the space and has no business posting reviews. I have flagged it for removal if it is no longer there. The aforementioned Nancy Gonzalez had posted several times on the New York Tech Meetup list about free coworking space on Fridays. After she had posted for several months, I decided to take her up on her offer. I emailed with her several times and confirmed with her that the following Friday, 5/31 would be a great day for me to come in. I arrive and I am greeted with a sparse, drab and depressing space. There were only 5 solo people working at the entire space, and someone at the desk. It was really not a great space to begin with. Despite seemingly making my reservation with Nancy via email a week ago, the person at the desk was clueless. He claimed they stopped their free coworking Fridays weeks ago and wanted to charge me $30 to use this space (keep in mind the last promotional email went out to the tech meetup group only a week and a half ago). Showing him my emails with Nancy Gonzalez, the director, did not help. The person at the desk was really not sorry for the mixup and I was told to sit and wait until I got confirmation that I could go ahead and work there for the day. This person, did not make a phone call, but either texted or emailed. There was no urgency to solve this problem. 20 minutes go by, and I find myself answering emails on my phone. "Sorry he says, I have to get confirmation from my boss." I give it 5 more minutes. Still nothing. I then left, being that I had a lot of work to do, and I couldn't sit around any longer waiting for a response. Who knows how long I would have to wait. I then left, finding a coffee shop down the street to conduct my business, and wrote an angry email to Nancy Gonzalez, which was never responded to. I thought I would give her a weekend to respond, always trying to give a business the benefit of the doubt. After no response I posted this review. maybe Nancy Gonzalez and SoTechie Spaces should spend more time handing their customers and customer service instead of posting fake Yelp reviews. DO NOT GO! DO NOT TRUST THEM!

I'll give SoTechie five stars for being the most centrally located and convenient co-working space…read morein the city! They are in the absolute center of Manhattan, on 39th street between 5th and 6th. For just $400/mo a desk, you can get 24/7 access to the space with WiFi included, separate mens' and womens' restrooms, and reliable WiFi. What really makes the place unique though is how few people know about it. I'm so reluctant to let the cat out of the bag, but I do need to maintain by Elite Yelper status! We have never had a problem booking the conference room or holding large meetings. Also, unlike many Silicon Alley spaces, the other companies here seem to be very diverse. I swear at one point our fellow residents included some telemarketers cold-call pitching small business loans. There are also enclosed office spaces large enough to fit mattresses (and people do sleep there). All in all, it's a very different experience from your WeWork or General Assembly. If you want to ensure you will not be in the Web 2.0, social media, local / mobile echo chamber, SoTechie is your oasis.

I really don't understand how someone gets hired, and stays hired in a customer service role, as an office manager and/or receptionist wherein they're the first person a client or customer sees and interacts with when they are rude. Like, what? That is legit part of your main job! The front desk person is the face of the building and sets the tone for the office. The fact that anyone would not understand this concept or expect friendliness (or at least not being totally rude to a customer) as a minimum requirement is baffling.
