Whenever we go to some place because it's just the closest thing open, I always cross my fingers and hope we don't land somewhere gross. Luckily, Marianna was not gross! Quite the opposite, actually. Marianna is tucked off the main road that runs alongside of Lake Garda. Unfortunately, on the non-lake side of the road, so there's no real view of the lake here. Because they're so close to the road, the outdoor tables are a little noisy from all the traffic. Nothing enough to ruin a meal, but also not as quaint and picturesque as other Garda restaurants. We enjoyed a great bottle of prosecco and a couple pizzas. The pizzas were hot and fresh. Very affordable. All in all, Marianna really hit the spot! We'd come back again if in the area for sure!

The decor is nothing fancy but is fine for an unpretentious pizzeria. There were ten people in our group and they did a good job in taking our orders correctly - most of us don't speak Italian - and getting our food to us quickly and more or less simultaneously. I had the spaghetti alla carbonara. This isn't very original but is one of my favorite dishes in the US and I wanted to see what it was like in Italy although I don't believe it is a traditional dish of the Lake Garda region. The pasta was very good but also very rich and very similar to its U S counter part. My wife had the grilled sea bass which she found excellent. Others in our group had pizza which they liked. We also had a carafe of the house wine and a antipasto plate. All in all the food and service was very good and I would certainly recommend.

However if you should be somewhere in Northern Italy you should make a point of stopping and have one of the most wonderful meals you will have. The place is is unpretentious as they come and they have preserved the Italian way to the very end. The pizza is brilliant, simple, not overloaded with dozens of meats and cheese. We had Margherita - 10 of 10; Vesuvio maybe even better and finally a pizza with porcini; Go and try it for yourself it's heaven on a pie Then to the seafood, yeah you heard right seafood. Fresh and hand picked else the owners Pasquale and Guiseppe won't buy it The Spaghetti allo Scoglio features mussels, clams, shrimp, octopus and calamari and scallops. Together with a dream of a super light sauce and tiny fresh tomatoes it was better than heaven on a plate. The grilled seafood plate with all of the above plus some langustinos and wonderfully fresh bass filet was evenly wonderful. My father prefers the Spaghetti Vongole, delightfully light and sweet Local wines round out quite a wonderful meal; Desserts - you have to go there and try it for yourself. A family restaurant that stands out in a tourist area and has not given into international preferences. It makes the lake look like the Italian Riviera - with better food.
