This restaurant is in beautiful Bologna and is a little on the casual side, but the food is great and priced very reasonable

Amazing service! Amazing ambiance! Amazing food! Ristorante da Umberto is a gem in Lake Garda's crown. We enjoyed a typical Italian meal (i.e. 2+ hours) during a long weekend in Brenzone sul Garda, one of many picturesque towns on the lake, just a few minutes up the road from Umberto's. We started with the Gran Frito Misto. Even though it was listed in the menu as a secondi, our waiter humored us and let us have it as an antipasti. The assortment of fried seafood and veggies was delish! I loved the calamari and shrimp. Even the sardines weren't bad! After that, we moved on to antipasti and secondi. My sister and I ordered the lasagne because it's a minimum 2 person dish. My hubby ordered the steak because... well... men like red meat? Y'all. I need to wax poetic about this lasagna for a minute. It was super creamy, bubbly and hot. Layers and layers of fresh noodles with a savory meat ragu sauce on top and prosciutto cotto and mushrooms sprinkled throughout. All served in a GIANT cauldron, easily enough for four people even though it was billed as a two person dish. The steak was good, too. And, we also enjoyed the sautéed potatoes. But seriously. Get. The. Lasagna. If you are still reading at this point (why aren't you on your way to Lake Garda for the lasagna?!), I suppose my last anecdote is that the house red wine was delicious. read more

Restaurants located directly on the lake are often quite bad. Tourists come anyway. Da Umberto is an exception. I don't know how it's possible that at some restaurants all staff doesn't care about the guests and at some restaurants the staff seems to love their guests. At Da Roberto it felt like the staff was happy to see us. Actually even the staff that was not for our table smiled at us and said hello. My compliments to the owner of the restaurant to pick this kind of staff. One small thing that I like really much: I only speak a little Italian and I wanted to impress my friend so I spoke Italian to the waiter. Normally an Italian waiter switches to English when he hears one doesn't speak good Italian. This waiter showed me respect and continued speaking Italian with me. It made me feel great. That is why I learn Italian, to use it when I am in Italy. Big thank you to the waiter. The food.. Our waiter told us that the lasagne is only made in the kitchen, after it is ordered (not just heated up a lasagne made that morning). I think he is right because 1: it took a while for the lasagne to arrive (I am not complaining), and 2: it just tasted fantasticly fresh. Also my friend who had spaghetti told me the pasta was certainly freshly made (tasted good). The plates had been pre-heated = food stays warm longer. We received a good wine recommendation. Only after trying three wines I found the wine that was good for me. In my case all three bottles were still closed but I only paid for the one glass I drank. I did not check if the have WiFi. The toilets were not clean unfortunately. Location: the marina on one side, the lake on the other = excellent. I added some photos. I had dinner at Ristorante da Umberto with a group of eleven recently and had a very interesting meal. The event was a special, pre-ordered dinner so I don't know if the items we had are normally available. Ristorante da Umberto specializes in fish from Lake Garda (fresh water) so the offerings are very unique to the region. Some of the fish are essentially caught right next to the restaurant. We started out with a antipasto which consisted of four fish dishes - trout, salmon (?), pike and fresh water sardines prepared in different ways and served with fried polenta. It was accompanied by a sparklingly dry rose from nearby Bardolino. The next course consisted of two types of pasta-gnocchi and spaghetti- served with fish. One of the fish was salted. This fish course was served with a nice dry Lugana from the region. We had a excellent desert which I wasn't able to identify. Dinner was followed by grappa and/ or limoncello. This was a very good and unusual dinner which was much different from the standard tourist fare around Lake Garda. Service was absolutely first class. I highly recommend. read more

This is a unique restaurant for the view of the Lake of Garda, food, and people. It is great for a romantic dinner or lunch as well as for di ing with family and friends. Located at the smal fishing harbor of Brenzone with direct view in the water, it has a lot of charm. We are "locals" and we go as offen as we can. My children enjoy the fresh pasta with the restaurant special tomatoe souce and we love the cruditee and the grilled lavarello (a Garda's fish of the salmon family) con patate saltate. read more

Excellent food. Home made pasta and GREAT coffee. Service was somewhat slow even though it wasn't busy.
