Maybe they do decent work, but after their driver William intentionally cut me off while driving two times today and then hurled profanities and insults at me when I tried to talk to him I would never take the opportunity to find out! The real cherry on top was when I called to complain and the lady jada answering the phone said she knew exactly who I was talking about and gave me his name! So this dude must be a repeat offender. Everything changed when I said I was going to leave a bad review; I guess they can't handle much more of them, and she immediately got nasty on me telling me to "cry in my feelings" before hanging up. I never give bad reviews to vendors, but I am going to make it an exception in this case. In April 2024 this company installed a new driveway. I had other quotes (some lower) but when Pat gave me the quote, he seemed like someone that I could trust, and I gave them the job. When they were done with the installation, I asked when it should be sealed. I was told to wait at least 2 years. Less than a year later, I received a call from them telling me to get it sealed so that they could extend the warranty by an additional 2 years. I agreed and told them that they could also do my neighbors. I received a quote, agreed to the price and was told that they would do in the next month or so. I never heard from them again. In the meantime, parts of the driveway are coming apart. I called them, sent photos, Emails but still no responses. Do not use this company. When they knock on your door to sell their services, do not open the door. Their contract specifically states, "One-year guarantee on all work," yet they do not uphold this. I complained about divots in the asphalt repair they did, and their solution was to sell me a sealing job! DO NOT HIRE these scumbags. I had my driveway installed a year ago and had complaints about the amount of material promised. They promised to put down 3 inches of stone and the same for the asphalt. Well I recently had to have some work done around the driveway and on the driveway and not to my surprise, they DID NOT put any stone down at all and the asphalt was not even close to 3 inches, in some spots less than 1/2 an inch was put down. And now that it is hot season, I CANNOT even turn around in the driveway as the tires make marks. When I originally complained and refused to pay until fixes were made, they tried bullying me, Charlie blew up my phone and his guys would not leave, he even threatened to have his guys come the following morning at 5am to bust my chops. Also, when I questioned all the bad reviews when I found them, they tried to blame it on their competitors, well I am NOT a competitor. I cannot implore you enough DO NOT to work with these A-holes. I had Charlie's Paving come over and repair an apron that was damaged by a truck delivery and also had them seal coat the entire driveway. What a disaster, the apron repair was OK, but the seal coating was, and is a slippery mess! Apparently it was explained to me after the fact that they use an oil base Seal Coat, which is illegal to buy in the state of New Jersey for environmental reasons. Every time it rains and now snows my driveway is a disaster and is not able to be walked on or driven on. My biggest mistake was not checking the yelp ratings before I hired this company. read more

They initially did a great job paving our driveway. But they did not contact us when it was time for the seal coat, which we had paid for already. We talked with someone at Charlie's three times, and nobody came out though promised. After one year, we went with another company and had to pay again. Charlies Paving is a horrible company. I spent over $14,000 on a new driveway. The driveway is sinking into the ground and has cracking all over it. I have filed a complaint with Hester the office manager. I have been following up for a year with more than two dozen calls to her. She keeps promising me someone is going to come out to look at the driveway, but no one ever calls or comes. This company will take you money and damage your home. Stay far away from them. Had trouble with a driveway we had paved 7!years ago. Wanted it fixed. Called Charlie's. They sent a guy over to look at driveway and discuss. I thought they were going to a good company. Moved shed and haven't come back to put it back. Send pictures of water pooling in driveway said they were going to look at it and didn't. Lord, said someone came to look while we were out. I know this was a lie, no one showed up on security cameras. Stay away. We should be able to give 0 stars. Like previous reviews said they are crooks. Did a terrible quick job and tried to shake us down for more money than what the written estimate said even after Not doing all the work included in the estimate. Within weeks we saw cracks and puddles form so we contacted them because they offer 1 year warranty. After numerous calls to them over the course of months our call was finally returned and we were told to call at the beginning of this year/season and they'd come out to do repairs. We've been calling for months and our calls go unanswered. They are crooks. We're still waiting for call back but reading reviews this is there common practice. Horrible company and horrible service. Price was fair and work was quick, but you get what you pay for I suppose. They broke our bottom front porch step and basically gave us the classic "prove it wasn't already like that." When confronted, they said they had to do the walkway by hand, so there's no way they broke the step. We literally watched them use a machine to begin ripping up the original walkway in front of the step. Stairs were whole prior to Charlie's and broken afterwards. Apparently, they're the type to refuse responsibility when they damage your property. Had to hire someone to fix our step. read more

Like others have said here and on Google, they're bonafide crooks. Totally ripped off my parents for thousands. They put down less than one inch of material in the center of the driveway and then built up the edges to make it look like 4-6 inches. Owner gave us this line: "Oh yeah we're local, we're here for the community. We do good work, etc." LMFAO. He said that because it's a scam... A few weeks later, my father and I saw the crew doing another job. We stopped and politely approached him. As soon as we mentioned being former customers who were unsatisfied with the quality of their work, they THREATENED VIOLENCE. Not exaggerating. Charlie's paved my driveway. It is a large driveway and the reason I went with them was they said the had a 1 year warranty for their work. Any issues within a year and they fix it. Within 3 months a part of my driveway started to to fail. It had spots that were sinking and cracking. I called many times speaking to receptionists and even the owner. Each time they said they would send someone down ASAP. No one ever came. Very sad. I spent $14k with them and they couldn't even bother to back their work up. Definitely don't recommend. Our driveway was 14 years old when it started to deteriorate. We had other pavers tell us they could fix the cracks as well as the grade, remove the crumbled parts and make it look like. None of them were successful. We then contacted Charlie's Paving. They came in quickly, removed the areas that were not done right by the other paving companies we used, added a top coat and the driveway looks like the day it was first installed 18 years ago now. The entire crew was polite, worked hard, and got the job done in one day. We couldn't be more pleased and highly recommend them to anyone seeking driveway repair or replacement. Warning! Warning! Warning! This company not only provides horrific quality product and workmanship, they are borderline scammers. We had our driveway done several years ago in Sussex County. At the time, our driveway was stone, and a 'front' guy (alleging to be Charlie's father) shows up at the door, telling my husband that his son is doing a paving job down the road and has excess asphalt. Of course, the front man provides an excellent price because he claims they just want to use their excess product. With their offer of a great price, and a graduation party coming up shortly, we decided to take the service. Bottom line, when they showed up with the truck/workers, the price raised about two thousand dollars more than originally quoted. More importantly, the quality of product/workmanship was poor -- extremely poor. Today, the driveway has cracked in several locations, and weeds have burst through the asphalt throughout (just fyi, the driveway was done in June of 2012). Disgraceful. A friend of mine several towns away was also ripped off by Charlie around the same time. BEWARE: They show up and pressure you to take immediate service. DON'T DO IT. I was not impressed with Charlie's Paving. A couple months after the job was completed I noticed dirt at the bottom of a slight depression in the driveway. It took 6 phone calls over several months to have the 6 feet wide depression leveled and the resulting hole repaired. A closer inspection of the entire driveway led me to believe that the "average thickness of the blacktop before compaction" in several other locations was not as stated in the contract, but I was not about to dig test holes just to prove a point. My belief was reinforced when I hired a contractor to dig up a section of pavement across the entire driveway to replace a utility pipe. The thickness of the exposed blacktop was considerably less than I hoped for. When he saw the thickness of the blacktop, he told me "whatever I paid for the paving job, it was too much." I saved photos and several pieces of what he removed. When finished, I hired another paving contractor to repair the utility pipe trench. read more
