Short drinks selection- ok service. Would go back if they took a card or their arm didn't charge a 3 dollar fee.

It's actually THE dive bar, as in, every other dive bar in existence draws inspiration from Charlie's.

Booner's Place is better than it looks when entering. Kind of divey but cleaner inside. The prices are pretty cheap mostly. Basic looking bar. It's actually bigger than it appears from the outside. There's enough room for big groups and parties. Has basically just lots of drinks. There's some beers on tap and lots more in bottles and cans, so great variety. It's about $6 for a basic cocktail. There's a pretty okay choice of liquors. Has no food menu basically. They may have those frozen pizzas. For sure it's better than expected. It's located on Washington Street at Jefferson. This is mostly chill except when there's games or music on they have a few times.

Here are some of the highlights. - The neighborhood is in transition but not a real problem. - Lots of parking, it's OK to park in the school lot across the street. - NO COVER CHARGE for a well-known blues band popular in the greater Chicagoland area performing on a weekend. Unheard of. - The female bartenders are HOT HOT HOT and they had very sexy and cute uniforms. Each one smiled a lot and took care of drink orders QUICK. They were even nice when my guest switched to drinking water later in the evening. - Drink prices were about what you'd pay for a place with no entertainment, but with the benefit of entertainment! - Not too crowded, a nice crowd for a Saturday night. - Classy decoration inside the bar and comfortable seating. - Diverse crowd from 20-somethings to over 40's. Seemed like lots of singles and by and large friendly mid to upscale people. I didn't observe a SINGLE negative about this place (OK - the band stand could be elevated a bit so people could see them better) and I would be happy to go back again sometime when they have a band or maybe just show up to watch a game. It's obvious by the attitude of the employees that management knows how to best treat customers and have people leave with a positive memory of their night out. Trust me- don't be intimidated by the rough exterior, give them a try and judge for yourself.

My husband enjoyed a Heineken zero and I ordered a mocktail called the Opal fizz. It was phenomenal. I want to have it again. Our server was so attentive. She was great. We tried three different wobbly chairs before giving up and settling for the least unstable one. It took 40 minutes just to get water, and over an hour for our drinks. Mine didn't arrive until the manager stepped in--75 minutes after ordering. When our appetizer finally showed up 90 minutes in, the "stuffed mushrooms" were cold, undercooked, and missing the sausage entirely. We sent them back because there was nothing edible about them. The soup tasted good, but it arrived more than an hour into the meal--and came with burnt pieces on top, which is especially ironic considering the fire alarm was going off at the time. The alarm was blaring directly above our heads, and two families walked out during the chaos. We should have followed. The salads we ordered never arrived. Multiple menu items we attempted to order weren't available, including the salmon for the salmon salad and the prime rib sandwich. At that point, the menu felt more like a list of things they used to serve. After two hours of waiting, missing dishes, unavailable items, and nonstop disruptions--on a birthday, no less--we finally walked out. And despite everything, we still tipped our waiter because it was painfully clear the chaos wasn't entirely his fault. We walked next door to Emil's, where the difference was night and day. We were seated immediately, treated kindly, served a full meal in under 45 minutes, and they even surprised my friend with a free birthday dessert to salvage the night. Emil's saved what Center Cut completely destroyed.
