Beer was flowing and food was traditional style, fresh, and impeccable. Paix Dieu on tap along with other drafts, bottles, cocktails, etc. St Germaine cocktail was refreshing but a bit inconsistent with one of the two with a lesser mix. The food was well seasoned and satisfying. Menus are displayed table side. The Puma de porc was delicious, tender and juicy with a balanced chorizo sauce served with salad and fries. The burger chorizo was devoured. The fish of the day was served with vegetables and risotto. The tataki beef was tender and accompanied with a sweet / salty sauce. Finishing with a tarlette that had a nice crust, chocolate mousse and mango ice cream and the Incontournable brioche perdue. Not too sweet and a perfect ending to an enjoyable meal. Enjoy!

Despite this, the guest rooms have most of the features you'd expect in a modern hotel, but so much more character. The restaurant is quite good. The staff is friendly, and even if something isn't on the menu or you have a very specific taste, or you wake up three hours late for breakfast, they'll take care of you. There was no meal that wasn't memorable, no croissant that didn't exceed anything you'd find in the US. But there's one thing that would get me to cross the Atlantic for: their mousse. It looks good, four small helpings of chocolate, and one of vanilla. But then you take a spoonful of it and you realize it is ... I can only say it's just incredibly dense. The flavor is spectacular. It looks like a normal one-person dessert, but it could easily satisfy three. That said, once I had the first spoonful, there was no way in hell I was going to share it. I am not a gourmet but times like this make me wish I had the vocabulary to describe the incredible richness and flavor that stimulated every taste receptor. I can honestly say that I was near tears when I was finishing it, because I knew that no other mousse-like dessert would ever come close to what I had just experienced. It was sublime. The business seems mostly to cater to customers from around the region, but they always had someone who spoke enough English to help me, and never made me feel out of place. The menu is neither robust or too small and is catered to what the chef feels like creating for the day. They have an ala carte or set course meals. I would definitely recommend the full 3 course meal with desert as they are paired to complement each other. Wine and other beverages are plentiful and if your in need of pairing, the hostess is there to help. The service was on point which puts this French restaurant above many similar establishments near larger communities. I can not comment on the hotel as I have not personally stayed there but according to friends who have, it is quiet and comfortable. This place gets my official 2 thumbs up and road trip stop recommendation.

Menus are available in English, though if you know "culinary French" keep a French menu handy too since some of the translations are a bit problematic. I thought the charcuterie plate was enough to share for 2 people; the roast beef sandwich was fine; fries not exceptional but OK. We didn't order dessert, but plenty of people were ordering rather elaborate ice cream sundaes and concotions.
