I have used the Schwab Seattle office since 2018. I have found this branch to be very helpful whenever I have asked for assistance. They made an extensive effort a few years ago to help me liquidate an employer ESOP account at Wells Fargo/Finley and transfer the proceeds to a new IRA at Schwab. I have also found if I call the 800 number for customer service, calls are answered quickly by American staff (not twits in India or Manila). Lastly, Schwab has no charge to wire transfer funds to my bank checking account. read more

Difficult customer service! If you can navigate your account without assistance or explanation then maybe Charles Schwab is just fine for you. Otherwise, good luck getting much help. Took forever to get transferred to a person who could answer my basic questions, who turned out to be rude and impatient. Then they emailed me threatening to close my account due to a funding issue, which turned out to be due to technical issues they couldn't figure out how to fix with my computer system. Then said to make an appointment to get my account helped in person, as it wasn't working online. Very difficult to make an in person appointment. Very frustrating. Cannot communicate clearly, makes everything complex to get advice and deal with actually transferring money and accounts. Ended up moving my account to another business. read more

Strongly suggest people not use Charles Schwab. I received a letter from Charles Schwab notifying me that "per the terms of our agreement" they were terminating my account. No reason given. When I called to inquire as to why they would close my account, they stated "it was just a business decision" and that "all business decisions are based on internal policies that aren't shared outside the Company". So in other words, "we aren't going to tell you". Lot's of choices out there, I suspect almost any of them would be better. read more

3/17 Very unhelpful. Trying to get help adding funds to my account I swear is the most frustrating thing. Called them for the 4th and last time today to get help adding funds to my account. I haven't had any luck getting help. Why am I calling for the 4th time frustrated and pissed. When I finally get help I found out they just put all my funds into a holding account. They've had my money for months and did nothing with it. No growth. Finally received help transferring funds into investment accounts and with adding funds to those accounts. Update: 7 months later 10/17 Screwed me again. Found out they never followed through with the contributions we set up in March. Again all my funds not growing. Clearly incapable of managing money so don't trust them with yours.Pulling all my funds and giving them to Morgan Stanley TODAY. I hate Charles Schwab. read more

Although, I'm sure they're leaving out the part where they lay it out on the floor and roll around in it. Did not have a great experience with this Seattle Schwab branch, I started by submitting on online request for an appointment, I never heard back for a few weeks so I called the branch to schedule an appointment, they has availability with an adviser on a Friday, my boyfriend and I both took the afternoon off to go to the office, an hour or two before the meeting I had a call saying the person leaves early on Fridays and to reschedule to the following week. When I went to the office it was hard for me to know where I should park and how validation worked since it was never discussed on the phone and I didnt see any signs. Luckily I went to the right lot and was able to get the ticket validated which was great. When I went inside for my appointment I was surprised to be meeting with an associate and the person who scheduled the appointment and not the person I was scheduled with for Friday (in which case, couldn't I have still come in on Friday?). While the guys I met with were very nice, they seemed nervous and I felt the whole meeting I was asked for a number of what I wanted to invest and the number kept changing (from 30% to 70% depending on who was talking) and I didn't get a clear understanding of my options or what I should do which is what I wanted out of the meeting. I left the meeting feeling extremely anxious and more confused than I was before about my options and after this experience I feel unimportant to the branch and apprehensive about coming back. I've had better experience with other Schwab branches in different states and will be trying to visit another in the area but if I have a similar experience I think I'll be removing my funds completely from Schwab and looking at additional options. read more

I almost switched from Fidelity to Charles Scwab. Prior to making the decision, I called this branch to inquire whether a certain fund is available for me to purchase. The man on the other line said confidently "Yes." I had my paperwork ready and walked to the downtown Seattle branch. I walked in and I can honestly say that no one said "Hi'. To top it, I was misinformed about being able to purchase the fund that I was after. They didn't say anything and just brushed it off. Seriously? They are in front of the public daily - After all, they entice us to use their sevices. If you have big enough portfolio, they make it big! I am taking my business somewhere else, and thank you for social media. I have a voice! read more

I have had to deal with Schwab on a more national level than the Seattle office which has been fine to deal with. My mother's small estate included some funds with Charles Schwab. The problem has been getting tax information in a timely manner for her IRA and regular account. Statements don't appear, several calls to specific representatives in Phoenix yields nothing but frustation and inaction by them. Just received notice of two voided checks from them that were never delivered. Highly NOT recommended. read more

Charles Schwab is terrible at handling wire transfers. I had initiated a wire transfer on Tuesday, and somehow the funds are still not in the receiving bank on Thursday. I called them probably 10 times to talk about this issue. Maybe half the time I get someone who doesn't know what a federal reference number looks like and keep on telling me their bank reference number. Then I had to go back and tell the other party that this was the federal reference number that they gave me. It made me felt like I was going insane, with Charles Schwab claiming that this is the federal reference number and the receiving party claiming that it is not. Finally, I reached someone who really knows what's going on and found out that the funds were held up in Wells Fargo. Why weren't all the agents aware of this? It would have been so much easier if they had just told me this in the first place. None of the agents on Wednesday afternoon had any idea that the funds from Charles Schwab was actually held up in Wells Fargo. Only the 5th person I talked to on Thursday actually knew that the funds were held up. It's completely unreasonable that the service is so slow. If I knew it took so long to do the wire, I would have just done cashier's check. read more

I have been a Schwab customer for years and really like their products on services. However, I am giving this Schwab branch a low score for their customer service. At other branches I have been to, they greet you warmly when you walk in and are kind and personable. At the Seattle, branch, I feel like every time I walk in there (usually to just make a deposit), it seems as though I am disturbing them. They barely say one word to you and have no eye contact. I'm sorry to disturb you from your computer screen or your lunch. How rude. If I need financial or investment advice, I certainly won't be going to this branch. read more

My husband and I called this branch to try and make an appointment to talk with someone about setting up retirement accounts, a rollover IRA that I have with them, and other investment options to meet our short-term financial goals. After looking up the current balance of my rollover account, we were brushed off and told to call a national number or read the website, which we've already done. If you already know what you're doing, this option is fine. However, as relatively new investors, we were looking for some additional guidance. We got the sense that this branch was not interested in talking to us in person since we would not be a large account. We will be investing elsewhere, with a firm that recognizes the value in helping young professionals. read more

I also had a wire transfer problem with Charles Schwab in Seattle. They missed the transfer cutoff two days in a row and after multiple calls to multiple different people in different cities someone actually got on the phone with me and the CS client i was supposed to be getting the funds from to explain they screwed up and that "Caroline" in the Denver call center guarantees it will be sent tomorrow. I hope she's correct. They obviously treat amounts under 1mil with indifference especially when the money is going out! I have done business with this downtown branch for several years (and continue to do so even though I now live in another state). I can't say enough about how pleased I am with my advisor (Justin) and the front desk staff. They have always been professional and have always met or exceeded my expectations.
