Great pediatrician there's not many like him around. This is my 2nd visit, my 1st was my newborn 2 months ago and I was in today when my 12 year old annual check up and immunization. Dr Cormick is very knowledgeable and really takes the time to answer questions and explain everything very clear and backs it up with external references. I'm very thankful I found him here actually on yelp. I had been taking my kids to Dr Reyes at Sutter Gould but 1) she is no longer there and 2) sutter no longer accepts my insurance. I was crushed! After 12 years I had no pediatrician for my kids! I really loved the doctor and the nurses there so it took me a long time and lots of research to find where to take my kids. I highly recommend him, the office is a cute/cozy children oriented decor lots of toys to keep them busy and the nurses are very nice also. Oh yea, and appointments it's a breeze I needed immunization for my son (because I'm a procrastinator) by Friday and called Wednesday afternoon explained my urgency. tdap for school so he could start 7th grade and she was so nice, got us in for that Friday. I remember first meeting Dr. and totally took his advice being a young mother at the time. Well by time of my 3rd child, whom was born with sttabismus, Dr referred us to DR.Foster. another btilliant doctor. So by 1 1/2 years old my son had surgery on each eye. A fee years down the road, he has started preschool, and had caught what we belived to be a normal bug. But right before our visit was up, Dr. sat there for a minute in silence. Then he says, just to be sure lets take him to ST. Joes and do a scan on his belly, if its nothing, no harm done. But he had a sixth sense about this. And thats were I believe some people absolutly know their calling. Turns out the Xray showed he in fact had a cyst in his belly. At the time ironically we were moving to San Diego, where once again Dr. scheduled a visit with Dr. Hilfiker childrens hospital. He had a cyst with 80 cc of fluid. All on Dr McCormicks hunch. Now my son is 20 graduating San Diego State, mechanical engineering. Who knows what may have been. When all the cards fall into place. I have 7 now and they have all been his patients. read more

If you're not choosing to vaccinate your child then "there's the door"... are the exact words I received from Dr. Charles while asking him his philosophy and views on vaccinations. Mind you I hadn't yet told him that my child was fully vaccinated and our family is pro vaccinations, Overall it wasn't a pleasant visit/Consult. However, the most concerning thing was that in the future if I have another parenting Style Question or View is that going to be Dr. Charles's response every time "there's the door"??? It's safe to say this isn't the doctor for us nor do I feel comfortable being in a place with so much which bad energy. Dr. McCormick explains it very well that when a child has a fever, it is the body's response to fighting whatever it is (whether it's bacterial/viral) within him/her. Fever reducers are unnecessary because it hinders the body from doing its job. However, if the fever is so high that the child is lethargic or is crying restlessly, then fever reducers should be administered. Dr. McCormick does not readily hand out antibiotics, whereas my children's previous pediatricians handed them out like candy. He explains that an antibiotic will not fight a viral infection, such as the cold and the flu. Dr. McCormick also explained to me that cough suppressants are unnecessary because coughing is the body's response to rid whatever that is inside the body and coughing is not the problem, but rather a symptom. Coughing isn't the illness, and cough suppressant does not treat the illness. In fact, cough suppressant, as redundant as it may sound, suppresses the body's ability to cough and it's ability to get rid of whatever it is that it needs to in order to get better. Coughing, in other words, is necessary for survival and the body won't just stop coughing because a child took cough medicine. I've brought my daughter numerous times here during this winter season, and I bring her knowing that Dr. McCormick will say this to me, and all times Dr. McCormick did not prescribe a thing because she has something viral going on, and she's all better without taking medicine other than some Motrin for pain relief from sore throat. Dr. McCormick spent a lot of time addressing my concerns, much more time than my children's previous pediatricians. Dr. McCormick presents evidence-based information and his professionalism and knowledge is an asset to this community. read more

We have visited Dr. McCormick twice, each time with a different child. For the newborn, vaccination and check up. The office was very warm and it needs to be when you have a newborn who will need to remove all clothing to measure weight. The staff was very friendly and Dr. McCormick have great advice on what to do when the baby cries nonstop in the evenings. For the toddler, we brought her in for a checkup and Dr. McCormick was able to make her laugh! She normally screams when we go to doctor visits and she always leaves with tears. But this time, she only cried when Dr. McCormick found the Cookie Monster in her ear. During both visits, Doctor spent about 40 minutes with us, giving great parenting advice and drawing examples from his personal experience as a parent. Dr. McCormick is personable and easy to talk to. He addressed all of our concerns and gave examples on what to do in certain situations. The office and lobby is clean and it's great that they have toys to keep kids occupied while parents fill out forms. They will see well kids in the morning and sick kids in the afternoon. My only regret is not finding Dr. McCormick sooner. Don't wait to schedule your appointment with him because you need to establish your child as a patient before seeing him when your child is sick. The only con was finding the location of office. The building have red roofs and it's on the first floor, hidden behind a massage office. read more

If you are looking for a well studied doctor, with up to date medical knowledge this is the office for you. He is very kind, caring, and compassionate with children. He typically won't just give your kid an Rx to shut you up....he really takes his time to talk to you and inform you on all options to treat your child. Having said that he is also not shy about being very honest about his belief in the best treatment. I appreciate this because then there is no confusion about what the recommendation is. I may not always want to hear it, or agree with it, but appreciate the fact he cares about my child's health as much as I do. Well baby check ups are only in the a.m. so the office doesn't get contaminated and make your healthy baby sick. If your child is sick and you need to be seen right away, then yes they might refer you to urgent care/ER if it can't wait until the afternoon (which I would assume is typical....if your kid needs immediate care, then go there!). If it can wait a bit and isn't an emergency or incredibly urgent then they can normally fit you in, in the afternoon. I have never been told they can't fit us in. His office staff is stellar in every sense of the word. Janet is AMAZING! She is the one who administers shots (to grown ups as well if needed) and you'd think the kids would think unfavorably of her, but mine run to her! Rachel is fantastic at assisting all other needs in the office! I would LOVE for them to clone themselves to work at a few other offices around town. read more

I first started coming here when my first son was 6 months old (he will be 6 years old next month). I didn't like the first pediatricians' office so I switched him to Dr. Pabustan. I started looking for a new pediatrician immediately bc at the very first visit, he turned out to be a complete jerk. I came across Dr. McCormick so I switched to his office. I liked it right away because you didn't have to wait hours to be called in. The doctor takes his time answering any questions and he's really nice to the kids. The nurse is also friendly and she's gentle when it comes to giving shots. When my children are feeling ill, I call first thing in the morning and they always take them in the same day. I'm usually in and out within 45 min to an hour. I'm very happy coming here. read more

"The Baby Whisperer". Dr. McCormick was able to get my daughter to corporate with his examination. The last doctor appointment I took my daughter too she kicked the doctor in the chest and screamed the whole time. He spent time to address our concerns. He was very caring and made everything clear to understand. I'm very thankful to have found him. The staff is very nice and there as so many toys to play with. The wait was not long at all. Dr.mccormick is amazing as is his staff, they care about the children. The office is always clean, never over booked I only wait about 10 min at the most, and even when they squeeze me in I wait less than an hour for same day appt!! My son was born with a very rare lung disease and Doctor works really well with UCSF, and was always up to date with his visits. He is very knowledgeable and explains the treatment backed with studies. As a nurse I truly appreciate the evidence to support his practice. My son gets sick about 3x during the winter and I am always calling for last minute appt, and they always accommodate me!!! Love love love the staff and the office. I love he has his own practice and isn't bunched with a ton of other peds, equals less sick kids in the waiting room exposing mine to unnecessary germs!! Love it read more

Great Doctor Great Staff! I used to go to him as a child and my kids have been seeing him for over 5 years now. He is great with my kids makes them feel comfortable. Hes not quick to give out meds unless its really necessary. Makes sure the kids are healthy in all ways meaning home health mental and physical. There is never a problem with getting my kids in if they are sick. The staff is exceptional. I always refer him to my friends and family who are looking for pediatricians. Dr. McCormick was sent to me by the pediatrician gods! With my first daughter I hated taking her to the doctor because of the wait time and the minimal time they took to actually care for her need. After I gave birth to my 3rd child (boy finally!) the nurses asked if I had a pediatrician in mind. I didn't- waiting on my newborn to get approval to be discharged, along came Dr. McCormick. So nice and very gentle. He offered for me to bring my son and the rest of my children to his practice. Desperate and willing to try any new place I FOUND THE PERFECT PLACE. He gives you the honest truth and tries his best to go the safest and most natural route. His medical assistants are amazing and always so kind. The waiting area is definitely kid friendly. I do not recommend taking your baby for circumcision to Dr. McChormic. I really regret having him to circumcise my son. He really did an awful job. The skin is still hanging and the edges are uneven. Moreover, they are not punctual at all. The staff asked us not to feed my son for three hours and we had to wait almost two hours on top of that in his office, while my baby was hungry, because they were behind. Do not go there for circumcision you will regret it. read more

There is a review below that criticizes a circumcision Dr. McCormic performed on a baby. All I want to do is tell about my experience with my 2 week old son's circumcision. I was given instructions to follow in person and by phone before the day of the circumcision. On the day of, I brought him in and everything went quickly. I spoke to Dr. McCormic about last minute concerns because the circumcision was not my wish, it was my son's father's request. Dr. McCormic took his time to ease my worry and explain the methods of sterilization and anesthesia he would be using. I undressed my son then left the room. I heard crying but that was expected. After 30 minutes or so, I was able to go back in to console my son. I was given instructions on what to expect, how to clean the gauze, and when to remove it. I went home and everything went well, my son was in no perceivable pain, he did not cry out of the ordinary. The gauze came off when it was supposed to and the doctor checked to see there had been no complications during our following visit. My son turned 4 months yesterday and has had no problems with his circumcision. UPDATE: My son is now 2y/o and still not problems with the circumcision however I left Dr. McCormic's office, actually I was kicked out. I opted for my son not to receive anymore vaccinations at his 9mo appointment after I did research on the ingredients used in each vaccination and the potential risks involved (which were alarming). When I opted out of the vaccines Dr. McCormic got very mad at me and told me to find a different pediatrician. In a very rude way he had his secretary print out my son's record, gave it to me, and I have not been back. read more

Staff at Dr. McCormick is FANTASTIC! They are extremely courteous, kind, compassionate and accommodating. They do their very best to get you in when your child is ill. I feel blessed and appreciative to have found Dr. McCormick as my children's pediatrician. He is very thorough when explaining information and takes adequate time to ask questions and listen to concerns. He is exceptional when it comes to easing the mind of a stressed parent and not only expresses concern for the wellbeing of the child/patient but for parents and the family as a whole. He has shared recipes, advice and ideas regarding the health of my family. I drive from the other side of Lodi to Dr. McCormick's office and would honestly drive further if needed.
