A sweet soul and an expert... Charles was the perfect officiant for our wedding.
Marie B.

Charles is so wonderful, and we are so thankful to have him officiate our wedding. Such a sweet & kind human being... Charles delivered a beautiful & memorable ceremony for us. It felt intimate, romantic, spiritual, and pure. A minister and a musician, he is both authentic and talented. Charles graced us with a delightful mix of Hawaiian traditions, Christian fundamentals, and personal touches, while serenading us with his ukulele. It was the perfect blend & masterfully performed. He is gentle & soft-spoken, well-versed & charming, professional & polite. We did not have a rehearsal, and yet he incorporated everything smoothly. He expertly navigated us through vows, exchanges, blessings, and songs... It was perfect & magical. Mahalo, Charles!

I want to joyfully echo all of the great things others have said about Reverend Charles! Like two sneaky teenagers, my then fiancé (now wife;) and I had the fun idea to elope to Maui over the Thanksgiving holiday. I found Charles here on Yelp and within minutes of contacting him, everything fell into place. He connected us to the most amazing photographer (we LOVE Cassie), and even pointed us to some amazing remote coastal locations which were so inspired. It's been a week since our beautiful ceremony by the sea, and we're still floating. Charles was so sweet and soulful, making our private ceremony truly unforgettable. His musical interludes and conch blowing were the cherry on top of an incredibly romantic sundae. Thank you sooo much, Charles--you are the best!

Charles officiating our wedding ceremony with the final blessing

Charles Nahale is a fantastic officiant! He Maui'd us in the rainbow state of HI. We are very fortunate to find Charles on here, he truly is a gem. His kind, thoughtful, & beautiful words during our wedding ceremony still brings us many emotions reliving that day. We were given great tips, one of many is, " don't forget the rings" this might seem silly, but apparently it happens more often than not. Charles brought us tissue and gracefully guide us through every step of the way. His words were calming and his demeanor was relaxed, confident. We knew we struck gold when we found an officiant that also plays the ukulele & sings. We highly recommend Charles as a wedding officiant! Charles, I really hope you're reading this. Great blessings to you and your family! Mahalo!

I can't say enough great things about Charles! He made our ceremony amazing! He had great energy, calm, humor, sincerity and professionalism. He sang, prayed and guided our kids on their part....wonderfully!! Our kids and everyone commented on how great he was. Mahalo Nui Charles for a beautiful, eloquent wedding ceremony!!

Charles was amazing. He was very experienced, sincere, professional and genuine. He incorporated traditional vows with native tradition. His words really described the true feelings of what we wanted our ceremony to be. We blended our two families together and he couldn't have done a more perfect job of incorporating each member of our family into the ceremony. We are very grateful he was the officiant for our wedding and his energy was part of making the experience. We will remember it forever in our hearts.

Charles is such a kind-hearted man, we truly could not be happier with our choice of minister for our Hawai'i wedding! He is sure to be a lifelong friend. He incorporated Hawaiian tradition seamlessly into our ceremony, and somehow made it so unique, so special, and so memorable. He was just wonderful to work with in every way. On top of that, he has a lovely voice and adds another personal touch by singing during your ceremony if you like. Highly recommended!

We were so pleased to have Charles as both our minister and musician at our Maui beach wedding. Charles is an extremely kind, caring and authentic individual, and exudes aloha spirit. He spoke from the heart, and encouraged us to do the same. I corresponded with him prior to the ceremony, to request a special song, and to share a little about ourselves and our preferences. Charles is a delight to interact with. His words that day were perfect. And his rendition of 'The Wedding Song (There is Love)' was outstanding. We simply loved having Charles officiate for us. He helped make our wedding day so special. Mahalo!

Barefoot Minded - Oren and Junior at my wedding ceremony at Gannon's

Barefoot Minded

(17 reviews)

Wedding Date: July 6, 2015…read more My wife and I could not have been more pleased with the music provided by Barefoot Minded Duo. The selection process for a vendor was not easy as we were both residing in Australia and USA (NJ) respectively at the time. As you can imagine, we had to go through our share of online reviews and word-of-mouth suggestions, and I mean A LOT. After reviewing some of their videos online - their website is great too - we decided it was EXACTLY what we were looking for: cool, fun and laid back, yet still local premium entertainment - a great mix of both original hawaiian music and amazing covers. From their immediate professionalism to easy-going attitude, we found them to be an excellent vendor to work with AND they were extremely understanding and responsive to all our questions/enquiries leading up to the big day. ..I ended up selecting a bunch of songs prior that we preferred from their greater list and they inserted them perfectly at times when we needed something slower and/or faster. While we didn't have a formal dance floor, they managed to get everyone up and dancing throughout the cocktail hour (which we extended) and it really made the night. Upon conclusion of the wedding, we received RAVING reviews from our guests who actually were chanting "we want more Barefoot Minded"! Again, my wife and I cannot recommend Barefoot Minded Duo enough - if you're looking for excellent wedding music in Hawaii, you really need to go with Oren and Junior - they're simply amazing!

Aloha Akoni - 3 month old Laken watching Akoni for the first time

Aloha Akoni

Akoni is an absolute must-see when you're in Maui!…read more We first met Akoni while staying at the Westin Nanea, and after hearing him play the first time, we immediately made sure to get his performance schedule so we could catch him again during our trip. Not only is Akoni an incredibly talented musician who creates the perfect Maui vibe, he is also just an unbelievably genuine and gracious person. Every time we saw him perform, he made a point to come over, say hi, and spend a little time with our family. My wife, son and I were traveling with my brother and his family, who had met Akoni previously at Nanea. Akoni remembered my nephew from their last trip and got to meet my son and niece for the first time. All of the kiddos absolutely loved him and his music, which made those moments even more special for all of us. His music is exactly what you hope to hear while you're in Maui - relaxed, uplifting, fun, and full of aloha. Whether you have the chance to see him performing around the island or are looking to book someone for a wedding, party, resort event, or pretty much anything where you want great music and an amazing atmosphere, we couldn't recommend Akoni more highly. Thank you for all the aloha, Akoni, and mahalo nui for helping create some really special memories for our family. We'll absolutely be looking for you the next time we're back on Maui! 10/10 go see Akoni!

The plan was set. As part of my trip, I had tickets to a "luau" type dinner and show with about…read more500 other people. The show was Willie K. Being totally out of touch with the Hawaiian music scene I thought..."Ut oh. Another Don Ho impersonator." I figured I was was going to eat as fast as I could so that when the show started I could slip out before "Tiny Bubbles" started... The dinner was actually pretty good at the Marriott. As I was finishing my dessert, the lights dimmed for the show to start....and I glanced around picking out my escape route. What came on stage was a huge bulky Samoan with hair that spread out 3 feet in diameter.. As he said in his subsequent monolog, if you were on a bus and he boarded it, you would get off the bus and wait for the next one. As he talked to warm up the audience he was actually pretty funny. Then he started to play. WOW. He played the guitar with a bass player and drummer. That was it. Yet, his playing filled the song....strumming and playing solos that seemed to be simultaneous and continuous. He was doing riffs with full cords that most guitarists would have trouble with single notes. He played a range of pop, oldies, folk, country. His solos were a match to any professional musician on the circuit today. In the middle of his set, he then said he was an out of the box musician.....and certainly he looked the part. But then.....he started to sing opera with a modern arrangement. Yes....this was way out of the box......and his voice was impeccable. A purist would probably argue his voice wasnt the best that the Met had to offer, but I have sat through enough operas to know he would at least qualify to audition at the Met. His 1.5 hour set just whizzed by. His skills as a guitarist were some of the best I have ever seen, bar none (I was an usher at the Greek Theater for 3 years and saw the world's best musicians there) His voice had had incredible range in range and in timbre. He could have a very pure operatic voice or a raspy Joe Cockerish twang. At the end of his performance, the whole audience was captivated and yelling "HANA HO." No...that isn't a Hugh Grant saying but what I was told was that it was Hawaiian for "ENCORE." If you are planning a trip to Hawaii and have some flexibility of dates and where to stay....and if you like great entertainment, see if you can attend a Wille K concert. He is that good. Looking at his bio later, I found he has backed up, played with or opened some of the biggest names in the business. One of his songs was Grammy nominated which didn't surprise me in tne the least. Well....my night didn't go according to plan....and I was glad. I would have stayed until dawn if he chose to play that long. I was fortunate to see such a great entertainer. HANA HO.

Beware with your children taking lessons from Eric Dashuttaman (owner)…read more*told my son in front of the class that "YOUR MOTHER IS A C**!. My 13 year old son has been taking lessons from Eric for about 2 years and for the most part (with only a few incidents) we were happy with the situation. When he opened up his studio we were told that we had to go on an AutoPay program where any sessions missed, cancelled or otherwise could not be made up and if you didn't find another time slot that you would be charged anyway. That's ok if WE are cancelling, I understand thats our resposibility but when Eric canceled repetitively I found I could no longer keep up with the missed sessions and asked to be taken off Autopay...because of that Eric reprimanded my son at his next lesson in front of the other students, age 12 and 14 throwing him out of the class and telling him and his friends that his mother was a C*@!. I can't even spell out that word and can't believe he said that in the presence of children. One of the boys in the group recorded all this with his phone because of all the inappropriate things Eric was saying. He also told my son that because he has another instructor that comes to our house that he was out for that as well...an "injustice" as he said in the video. My son was afraid to even tell me all this but the boys ended up informing their parents. Since then all the parents in our group pulled the boys out but none have been reimbursed for all the missed sessions. I asked Eric to apologize to the boys but have heard nothing from him. His administator Candace Negran ignored our request.
