The room itself was nice, we had a kitchenette and a really comfy beds. TV took a little bit of time to figure out but was a nice size for winding down. Hot tub not really that hot - warm at best even with the jets turned on (but only the feet jets turned on, the back jets didn't work for some reason). The pool was small but not too cold. Breakfast was basic - scrambled eggs, sausages, waffle maker, boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, fruits, muffins, coffee/tea/hot cocoa. However note that it doesn't open until 7am on weekends which caused us to delay our departure. Toiletries available (shampoo/conditioner/soap/makeup remover/shower cap) and toothbrush/paste available at the front desk. Walked to Game On next door for dinner, close and convenient. Friendly and easy check-in/out process. Would come back here again!

Do the math. Jk. We had different views, I'm finding out. Two couples saw a beautiful shot of the Fraser River, the other saw the road. Beautiful mountains and open space helped pacify things. Our room definitely had a dog in it, previously. Mrs. E even noticed the strong urine smell. The staff were quick to find an alternative and moved us. But we lost the beautiful view. Other than being a bit on the dirty side, the rooms were stocked and functional. Pretty basic, no thrills or amenities, like coffee, etc. We had no TV, either. Honestly, I was so tired that it didn't matter. We will most likely check out another place on our way back through. 09/22

The place is somewhat dated, but clean and in good repair. I'll avoid an overly-wordy review and just list the basics: Cleanliness: Very good. All rooms are smoke-free, but all of them have a small ashtray sitting on the air conditioners outside the door for your use. They don't discriminate against smokers, just don't want the smoke in the rooms. Amenities: Decent. TV (I didn't use it), microwave, small refer, WiFi is available, but I didn't sign up for it. Oddly, there was a small table, but no chair. There is a small air conditioner in the window, but there was no need for it. Bathroom: Basic - it did have a screened window that made for a nice cross-breeze. Shower: Not so hot. The water couldn't decide whether to gush or dribble out of the shower head, so it sort of did both. If you stand directly under it, you can get wet. Location: Very nice. It's fairly quiet, or was when I was there. It has a view of the river that is more peak-a-boo than expansive, but it's pleasant. There is a large fire pit with rough log benches that would be great for sitting out under the stars. People: I met Todd, the owner (and chef at Fat Jack's). He's a very likable guy, very friendly and easy to chat with. If I hadn't been so tired I probably would have stayed up and chatted with him a while longer. Price: For the location, not bad at all. I would definitely stay here again. (Note: The motel didn't have a listing so I created it - and typed the name. It should be 'The Mighty Fraser Motel', not 'Faser'.)

Overall, this is Merritt and for its standard the room is new and clean. We were told the owner will do the rest of the room next spring. The location is a bit out of nowhere. However the bed in the living area replaced the couch. The room was furnished with some dated items. A fridge and stove from the 1970s I believe. It would have been a decent enough place to stay in for the long term. I enjoyed it. You could tell that most of the people who were staying there were there for work. There is a logging mill just 5 minutes away that ran 24 hours a day. On the plus side, you could not hear the mill from the hotel. The room had air conditioning, provided towels, and toiletries. There were plates and cookware avaiable for use. If you decide you don't want to do your dishes there is a fee. And if i remember correctly is $3.00. I would stay there again. It was clean and the staff were pleasant.

We came directly from the Abbotsford airshow and were hot, tired, and cranky. Being greeted in such a friendly way really helped turn my mood around. We checked in, showered and then immediately hit the pool and hot tub. The pool area was clean and well maintained. There were plenty of clean towels available and although there were a few other families in there, it didn't feel crowded. There is a fancy coffee maker in the lobby, as well as an assortment of teas. I thought this was a really nice touch. Also, in our room was a nespresso machine! I was impressed. Across the street there is an Esso station with a "travel centre" which includes a LARGE convenience store, Burger King, and a Pizza Hut. Also in the same parking lot as the hotel is a Mr. Mikes, and right on the other side is a Boston Pizza - so there are lots of options for food! Rooms include a free FULL breakfast, not just continental. It included waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, various breads, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, hashbrowns, yogurt, cereal etc. There was plenty of variety and the buffet line stayed stocked well. Check out was smooth and they actually proactively asked me how the stay was. Now here's the kicker..... a few hours after we checked out, I received a call from the front desk. When we left, I had left some ice packs on the counter. I meant to through them out, but it slipped my mind. they called to ask if I needed them. I really appreciated the call and thanked them, but asked if they could just toss them for me. Oh.... I almost forgot! When booking, I had the option for a double queen room, or a double queen with a balcony for the same price. So I booked the balcony cause I love sitting outside in the evening, and the balcony was HUGE! There's a few rooms with balconies, and they're not all as large as ours was, but ours was MASSIVE. I would definitely recommend this hotel and we'll be staying here again in the future!

We had a kitchenette and it was stocked with a 2 burner hot plate, fridge, freezer, pots and pans, toaster, microwave, cutlery and cooking utensils/spatulas, bowls, plates, glasses, mugs, detergent, sponge, and dishcloths. Also fruit, boiled eggs, variety of breads, cereal, milk alternatives, granola, yogurt, egg bites/mini omelettes/sausage/hashbrown. And of course coffee, water, juice, tea. Some reviews said there was banana bread and other baked goods but I didn't notice it other than the muffins. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the BW and hope to be back soon, although the prices are consistently higher than other hotels in the area.

This property offers 'glamping' services (vs camping) that include options to sleep by the river in a teepee!!! I opted for the latter & thanks to Mareike she helped make my DREAMS come TRUE. I highly recommend Teepee #4 because it sits on the perimeter of the property overlooking the Thompson. It comes with two twin & one double bed (enough for a family of four) along with enough comforters, linens & towels for ALL. Kumsheen thought of EVERYTHING for their guests. There were baskets of amenities including star charts, lighters for candles (not included so don't forget to bring some) solar powered lanterns, shampoo, soap & ear plugs!!! The CN Traintracks are directly below the property but after a tiring day on the river (along with proper insertion of your ear plugs) the sound becomes almost lulling. If you didn't have time or in my case the resources to bring your own food (I flew in from Southern California), Kumsheen's Chefs will not disappoint. Special shoutout to breakfast cook, Terry who made my stay EXCEPTIONAL with the French Toast & fresh fruit cup. Btw - No need for syrup on these bad boys because Terry whips it up like a breakfast Strawberry Shortcake complete with whip cream. He literally picks the mint FRESH from the garden next to the kitchen to muddle into a simple syrup for the fruit cup. I was so addicted to it by the end of the trip, I was begging for the recipe. The hospitality at Kumsheen is only surpassed by it's grounds. This property boasts a pool, jacuzzi, volleyball courts, disc golf, life size chess set & 5-star restaurant!!!! It truly was a bit of heaven on earth. Thank you Kumsheen for keeping me warm & safe my first trip out to BC... I will most definitely be back!!!!

We stayed in a tepee the first night which was nice, as you fall asleep you can stargaze out of the roof which is nice. There was an outdoor dishwashing station outside our tepees which was nice. There were outhouses and they were clean and didn't smell bad. We then transferred to a yurt cabin for the remaining three days and we got a nice view. We were wondering why they put ear plugs in our room until the train came by in the middle of the night several times and freaked us right out because it's so loud and sudden that it wakes you from a dead sleep leaving you freaked out thinking its going to run your cabin down. The view of the Thompson River is spectacular and we saw long horned sheep hopping all over the mountain side. They advertised on the website that they have a hot tub but the jets weren't working. I was told on the phone that the restaurant is fine dining. The food was decent but it's not fine dining tho. They have hot shower facilities which is nice. We decided to book a full day of river rafting on the motorized boat over the paddle boat. The guides were awesome! It's only $179 and well worth your money. You stop half way down the river and they feed you a fresh all you can eat lunch and it was good. Well worth the money for the trip. We had some loud partiers beside us that kept us up until 4.30am and there was no help that we could find after the office closed at 8:00. We left messages and our 2nd night there was a train wreck for getting any sleep because of it. It's a family run business and I met the wife and she was very kind and courteous. They have volleyball, huge checkers and chess outside, horse shoes and more. The campsite is maintained for the most part and I would repeat and stay there and go river rafting again. I gave my hotel my credit card and charged the cabins, rafting etc and you also have to pre-pay for your dinner and breakfast in advance but then when I went to order drinks at the pool bar or restaurant they wouldn't let me charge it on my card like I did the rest of the stuff which is odd. They advertise they have a pool bar but it was only open two of the weekend days I was there and didn't open till 4:00 but theirs signs saying you can't bring drinks to the pool but I don't know how you're supposed to quench your thirst if the bar isn't open. The scenery is so beautiful and overall our group really enjoyed ourselves a lot and would love to repeat again. I highly recommend it.

I loved the view from the bedroom. You could see the lake without walking out to the balcony. We decided to sleep without the curtains drawn so that we could enjoy the scenery. The air conditioning was also powerful which was so needed during the hot summer day. As it was covid-19 pandemic while we were there, safety protocols were in place. I appreciated the contactless check in and check out, plus hand sanitizer by the elevator on every floor. We had to bag our used towels and linens when checking out but it was understandable. The bathroom amenities were from OrganiQ which was my favorite brand. I loved the lemongrass scent of the body lotion. The bathroom was also clean, likewise for the rest of the room. Tea and coffee (Keurig) were provided though we did not touch it or any of the items. Covid-19, you know. The bed was soft, good if you prefer that. I had no issue with the noise and could sleep through the night. My friend was sensitive to noise and could hear everything -- doors opening and closing, people talking etc. I heard nothing though. So this could be something to consider if you are a light sleeper or hate sounds. The staff was excellent. We parked our car for $5 at the back parking lot, and the staff allowed us to leave the car there for a couple of hours after we checked out so that we could grab a quick bite and also shopped a bit. That was very flexible and kind of them. I will definitely stay here again. A+++++++
