We booked an appointment almost immediately. On the day of testing, the psychologist, Dr. Sellers, made my daughter feel comfortable instantly in order for her to be calm and collected. Parents were not allowed in the room for testing. It was about 45 minutes or so, then we were told to come back for the 2nd round a couple days later. All was great for the 2nd round as well and got results back within a week. The testing was necessary for her to get into a gift program with the East Baton Rouge School District. Even though the testing price was a pretty penny, we still went through with it. This office is located off of Perkins Road on YMCA Plaza Drive. Give them a call to schedule your child for gifted placement testing, if you are looking to get them tested privately rather than through the school district.

They're also incredibly transparent about costs. They told me upfront, verbally and in writing, that they're out of network and what my exact charges would be. Honestly, I'd rather pay out of network for this level of care than deal with most in‑network experiences (who had me in and out of the office in record time, did not listen to me). I have been to many counselors over the years and she was by far one of the best. She was clear and concise and helpful for the issues I was dealing with. I was able to work through problems verbally and she was able to give practical advice to me that were very easy to enact in my everyday life. He listens to what you are going through instead of most people. He's made minor adjustments in my daily medication that has helped me feel more like my old self. The dosage changes make me feel more energetic throughout the day. They have a great person that does the scheduling, Ms. Sadie, Shes efficient in getting your appointment times and dates scheduled with your needs and availability. She also sends out reminder texts of upcoming appoints and calls to set up the new appointments as soon as a session is complete. Just an overall sweet and considerate person. We have pulled every tool out of our toolbox, read her all the feelings books, played games to focus on naming our feelings, played music, danced, and nothing works to move her out of her anger or sadness. We have asked other parents to share their strategies, but nothing we have tried has worked. So this week we decided to find a therapist and get some new tools. Today we brought the kids to our very first family therapy appt with Sam Giamanco at Sesh Therapy. The office was clean and comfy. Sam was great with the kids. I recognized myself getting a little overstimulated by all the noise of the kids playing while we talked, but Sam never batted an eye. We spent the first part of the session discussing what issues we wanted to work on, and the second half learning some new exercises. We officially have a plethora of new coping strategies in our parenting toolbox. Sam sat on the floor to play a game with the kids, and she had us all practice each of the new exercises she introduced. All of the kids are excited to try out our new exercises at home, and I am so glad we went together so they could learn the exercises with us and be involved in the appointment. I definitely think it helped that Sam was the one to introduce these skills, because she is not their parent, so it is much cooler to learn something from her. My husband and I were very comfortable with Sam and will definitely be back to check in with her on our family's progress. I'd also be comfortable leaving a child with her for individual therapy should that need arise. Please check her out if you are looking for individual, couples, or family therapy. She is great!
