This is a very nice, quality place. It's not your bog standard curry house. The food is super fresh and tasty and service good.
So I went here on Christmas Day as I found myself in the city on my own for 4-5 days. It was pretty quiet, maybe 5-6 other people, and food was strictly select from the Christmas Menu only. No al a carte option. This was a bummer because while I was indeed hungry the £29 Christmas Day option was twice the amount of food I could eat even in a state of gluttony. We finally negotiated down to their £23 December menu which was a bit more reasonable. I still couldn't finish it all mind you. This was a waste of food and money.
So the red wine I had was good, as was the mango lassi. The starter of poppadoms great, fantastic pickle selection, then chicken pakoras ... big chunks of fresh, moist chicken breast coated in a lovely batter mixed with fresh coriander. I had a side of potato and cauliflower, excellent sweetness, and then a main of fried rice and huge chunks of marinated chicken on a bed of peppers and onions, really lip smackin'. That's what was so frustrating ... I would normally have taken half this food home in a doggie, but as I was staying in a hotel it wasn't possible. Such a shame!
Service was attentive and polite throughout, tho there was a certain amount of 'subtle upselling' which was a tad irritating, along with the all too regular 'is everything OK sir?' stuff going on. The place wasn't very busy so maybe they were bored. Maybe they just wanted to make a great impression. It would be harsh to minus a star for over enthusiasm! I'll give them some slack.
I would certainly go back, the food deserves it, but it would be at a time when I could choose from the a la carte menu. I can definitely recommend the place. read more
