I bought a used pickup from here and was told it was inspected by a mechanic, fluids checked and it was ready to go! I noticed a noise as I drove it home but thought should be ok as they checked it out! Well it wasn't, rear brakes were shot to the point one rotor was worn halfway through! What's funny is some employee from there replied via phone to my negative rating on there website ensuring me they would make it right and he would call me the next day! Really expensive and poor service. Took car in for repairs and got it back not fixed. Went back 2 days later and they found a hose on a condenser that needed replacement. It would have been $800.00 for the hose. They replaced the condenser 3 times previously where the hose would have to be removed and reattached. Now the hose is damaged. The car has less than 60,000 miles on it. I won't go back. read more

Chose this shop as an OEM to do service on my Jeep Cherokee. They installed a leaky radiator. When I brought it back, they said it was the hoses. 2 years later, it's still leaking, I got a second opinion and they tell me it's a bad radiator. I called Charbonneau back, and they said it's been more than 1 year, the warranty is no longer in effect. Still, I have a radiator that only lasted 2 years, and they wont stand by their work? "Nope." Further, I had them change my brake pads, and immediately after they were so loud that it sounded like metal on metal. "They just need to break in." Was the response. After a year without breaking in, I brought them back, they sprayed brake cleaner on them and said if I really wanted them quiet, I'd need new rotors. $X00. I went online and bough brake pads/rotors/tools for $150, and installed them in less than 2 hours using YouTube videos to be a mechanic. Now they're perfectly quiet. I'm not even a mechanic and I did better work for less $ than they could do. read more

I have been dealing with Charbonneau's for over 15 years. I have never had a bad experience with them and everyone there will treat you like family. I have dealt with all the salesmen and the shop hands as well. They will always go above and beyond when it comes to your needs. Weather it be a new vehicle or your vehicle needing fixed. I just had an experience with my vehicle giving me issues and they have been going above and beyond to get it fixed. I can not thank every single one of them enough for all they have done and continue to do for not only myself but everyone else that they deal with. They all have a great sense of humor and personality and that's what makes it so great to deal with them all because you can talk with them like they are your best friend or close family member. I'm not even sure where to begin, all I know is that our experience here was so outstanding, with such over-the-top customer service, that it is going to seem unrealistic. My wife and I were interested in a truck at Charbonneau Car Center and I sent an email to them requesting more information. We are out of town/state buyers and had never purchased a vehicle that wasn't local. In less than a day, the General Manager of the dealership, Jayme Praus, had contacted me directly through email (didn't hound me with phone calls to pressure sales, even though I'd submitted my phone number in the inquiry) and was ready to answer all of our questions. Having never purchased a diesel before, we were wary of buying it without a thorough inspection. And even though he assured me his team had gone over it thoroughly when they received it, he didn't hesitate to take the truck himself to a nearby Diesel Mechanic (ABC Diesel) the day I asked. Outstanding! The mechanic called me and told me it was an incredibly clean and solid truck, especially for the miles, minus an oddly low coolant level in the radiator. After telling Jayme we were satisfied with the results of the inspection and were willing to move forward with the purchase, he began working with our local credit union loan officer to arrange the paperwork details. Little did we know, at the same time he took it upon himself to have his team of mechanics go over the radiator and associated parts to see if they could figure out why the coolant only would be low. They found a crack in the radiator hose, which is a cheap part with expensive labor costs ($500+) to fix, and told his team to get right on fixing it without even telling me ahead of time, or me asking him if he would fix it. He made the right decision without even being asked, and that's a representation of how he had always conducted himself and continued to do so even after the truck arrived, by checking in with us several times after we took possession of the truck. Another example of going above and beyond the call of duty was in the handling of the shipping pick up: the transport driver was going to arrive late, around 9 PM, and had asked Jayme if he could leave the keys with the truck so he could just load it and get on the road that same evening. Jayme reached out to me to ask what I wanted to do since it was my truck and he felt the owner should get to decide! I told him I wasn't really comfortable with that, and that the transport driver should just pick it up and load it in the morning. Once again, Jayme took matters into his own hands and drove BACK INTO TOWN - over 20 miles away! - at 9 PM to meet the driver and get the truck loaded so that I could receive the truck as quickly as possible. I know of NO ONE else in this or any other industry who would go so far above and beyond, especially considering the dealership already had my check and had already made the sale! He gained nothing by sacrificing his evening to ensure the truck could get loaded quickly. Since it would take a few days for transport to be arranged, I called and asked if we could get the front windshield replaced while we waited, and he arranged a price that was cheaper than I could get here locally, drove the truck over himself and picked it up when it was done, all again after he'd already made the sale and stood to gain nothing from helping out like that. My wife and I have never received such phenomenal, out of this world customer service and treatment, to the point where we will be buying our vehicles from Jayme and Charbonneau Car Center from now on despite having to pay to have them shipped to us. Being able to trust a car salesman/dealership is an invaluable thing, and I can attest to the kind of stand up man Jayme Praus is and the kind of experience you'll receive by buying your vehicles here. We moved to Dickinson due to the loss of jobs elsewhere, so we have a certain level of expectations when it comes to businesses since we have lived in a lot of different cities (major cities to small towns). My first experience with these guys was awful. They didn't tell me that a certain product was going to significantly increase the cost of the oil change, until I picked up my vehicle. They also charged me to check out the e-brake because it's not working well. I now know that there is a recall on some e-brakes for my vehicles' year and model. I had them check it again recently and they didn't charge me this time, probably because I mentioned that it might be a recall issue. I was upset after that first experience because they were not up front about the charges and presumed I knew that there would be additional charges. Of course I know nothing comes free, but I was furious by the service I received and I told everyone how I felt! After I got home, I called to talk to them more about how they charged for the service and the one guy hung up on me. I didn't use fowl language or insult him, I was just upset and felt taken advantage of. It took a long time before they redeemed themselves with me. But it was only initiated because I did business with someone who knows one of the head-honchos... She, as a business owner, helped me out by listening to my experience and then relayed it to her contact at the dealership... Then they offered us a free oil change as an appology and they have been good to work with ever since. They tell me the things about what to expect, and I make sure that I ask more questions if not all bases are covered. I think we all have learned from this experience and I am satisfied overall. I am still scarred by my experience or I would have given them a 4 or 5 star rating. We also signed up for their newsletter/email list and we get great discounts for any service you might need for your vehicle. (cheaper or comparable to Walmart Auto Center) And since we travel a lot, we make sure we are taking our vehicle in regularly for maintenance. And we like that all of our service can be verified in their system just in case its needed when we decide to trade it in or ever have any problems with warranty limitations.
