Haddock chowder
Kathy B.

We went here for lunch after exploring St Andrews. Their haddock chowder was delicious. The space was open and airy. It's an order at a window set up then they deliver to your table. We didn't drink but beer selection looked good.

Great ambiance. The high covered, yet open, ceiling creates this large, open and airy ambiance and nice vibe. You order at the counter and the food is brought to you. Service was great. The food was prepared fresh and from locally sourced ingredients. Overall a great option when you're in St Andrews.

Bacon Cheeseburger with fries

We both had the bacon cheeseburger. Yum!! I loved the flavor or the "char" on the burger. I could taste each individual ingredient of bacon, cheese, pickles, and the sauce. Sometimes flavors blend together but this burger had distinct flavors that stood out. The fries had a special salt on them and they were hot out of the fryer. I didn't cover up the taste with ketchup as I appreciated the potato taste and texture, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Loved the ambience. Light music and relaxing decor.

Cute space , friendly staff. Food was excellent!! We tried the fish chowder outstanding flavors, cold lobster rolll with herbs and chives was lovely. I always like a hot roll but this surprised me greatly and perfect for a warm day! Even the hotdog tasted good

Sangria

Our order: local cider, house-made sangria, water street lobster roll, Portuguese chicken (half), seafood chowder The Portuguese chicken was a dream - juicy, moist, well seasoned and smoked to perfection. Loved the tang that came from what seemed like lime juice in the marinade. Finger lickin licious and goes well with the side of house salad too. I love the minimalistic way that NB prepares their lobster rolls. Honestly, I never understood the hype until I had a true NB/Maine lobster... and Char and Chowder served me my first. Wow, I finally experienced the ocean sweetness and umami that everyone else talked about. The seafood chowder was on the thin side (and I'm thick chowder kind of gal) but all the flavors were there and my picky eater parents approved. This spot was recommended by the owner at Niger Reef Tea House, another locally rated 5 star establishment. Live music, outdoor seating in a barn/wood shack/warehouse setting, order and pay at counter. Parking is a pain in the area.

Brand new. Great open concept, very cool. Servers were still training and very nice. Very limited menu but I think it's because they are new. Lobster roll and seafood chowder were both DELICIOUS!!!!! I recommend this place, it's going to be very successful.

Yummy lobster roll with not too much sauce. Also tried their Charlie Burger and kids had hot dogs. Their sangria is nice too. There was an order mixup so one of us got order later. Otherwise cute outdoor sitting under a wooden barn.

Nice ambiance, good food, reasonably priced, limited but well executed menu. It was one of the few places open on Monday night.

Exactly what you'd expect from a gas station variety store. I will say as soon as we stepped inside…read morethe smell of pizza greeted us so I can imagine they make some delicious food! Due to the time and the season we were told no food spots were open and this was likely our only option. Basically a lifesaver to prevent us from having to eat the minimal food we got in our car so we were thankful for their grab and go sandwiches and wraps. Bread was a touch soggy due to sitting in the fridge sometime but overall good size for the price sandwiches. Nothing world class or mind blowing but considering our situation and honestly price we can't complain!

The store is more "grocery" and less "convenience store" thanks to the large selection and the lack of large grocery stores in this part of Maine, which is right next to the Canadian border. Canned goods, candy, dairy, deli, lots of wine and beer plus the sort of automotive items you might find in a 7-Eleven including oil, anti-freeze and gasoline cans. They were stocking the pizza display as we arrived. They also sell lottery tickets. Plenty of parking out front. At this time, masks are required and the nice woman behind the counter was wearing hers when we made our purchase. [Review 14861 overall, 363 of 2021, number 47 in Maine.]
