The Nude Recreation begins at the trail at the top of the dam and goes about a mile and a half to a creek. Along the way you will find little places to swim,fish,hike or sunbathe nude. The creek area is a popular hangout spot. Nudists have been using this area for years. We really enjoyed meeting other nudists there. Bring water and snacks and sunscreen. There is creek running through several area through the trail, but the time we were here in Autumn, it's mostly dry. I'm rating this place 5/5 even if I want to add somethings that needs to be improved. We came here to kayak, very peaceful and relaxing place to be, and you cannot beat the price- it's free. There's a boat launch area so it's very easy to access the lake when you want to kayak or bring your own little boat. The lake is a good size surrounded with vegetation's and plenty of ducks- be careful stepping on ducks' feces. I noticed there plenty of picnic shaded area with tables and grills- which I assumed you have to call the county to rsvp if you want to have a party. But I think it's first come first serve too. There's several people fishing today- we came here at 9 am, and you can still enjoy your solidarity when you kayak farther down the lake. I highly recommend this place to come in and enjoy nature. If you're looking to fish and expect to catch fish- this is not the place.

It is really too small for recreational boats. There is a paved multi-use trail around the lake. This trail is perfect for a leisurely stroll, pushing a stroller or walking the dog. There is grass from the path to the lake. Fishing is allowed at the lake. There were many people fishing during our visit; my children included. A Kentucky state fishing license is required for those 16 years old or older. One of my children caught a carp that was about 20 inches long! We only caught the one fish during our visit, but boy was it a doozy! Our fishing was catch and release, so maybe you will catch it on your next visit.

The campsites are a good size and are all in the woods, which we prefer. The bathrooms are super simple, but the women's restrooms are impressively clean. My husband did say that the men's restrooms were pretty much unusable though. I have not used the showers, so I can't speak to those. The price is good and I am happy to support a state park. We also haven't gone down to the lake or used any of the other park amenities yet, but look forward to trying them out. Each campsite has a firing and a picnic table and a paved driveway, perfect for our truck top tent. My only complaint so far is that the last time we stayed, there was a dog who truly barked without ceasing the entire time, with the exception of quiet hours because it was taken inside to sleep. I understand the dogs are allowed in the campground and that they bark, but we weren't able to relax, and the campground wasn't peaceful because the barking was that bad. I do wish there was some sort of policy for this. However, this won't deter us from coming back because I do believe it was a coincidence.

It's a huge packed area with few trees, borders hard to discern and tightly packed. I would recommend getting a spot on one the little dead ends with trees and not 1,000 people. The area the park has on the lake is not very appealing tbh. The nature center was a good diversion and they also had movie night and mid day crafts available at the pavilion. I'd give those a 5*.

A lot of the plots are hilly but they have tent pads they scaped for them with gravel. There is a large lake that runs along the sites that you can fish or rent kayaks.

We tried to visit the other day and it was closed again for repairs. Its such a peaceful place to just listen to the water, sit on the bridge and people watch or explore the hiking trails and let the kids burn off some energy. The trails also connect to the fossil fields and if you cross the street, it will lead you to the lake. Their are parts of the park that allow for wheelchair use, but the main hiking tails are mostly gravel. Its a very busy park, so no need to worry about it being too secluded or not safe. Word to the wise...the restrooms have been closed since the pandemic, so prepare to go before or practice safe measures when finding a secluded tree. Lol.
