Unfortunately for me, this was before the business became TRA. My experience with TRA has been terrible. It took forever for my original tax return to be completed with horrible communication. Since then, I've received a letter from the state of PA saying I owe over $3k in taxes that was not what Tom had reviewed with me and what I signed in our meeting when my returns were supposedly complete. I sent a message in their client portal and uploaded the letter asking for it to be addressed immediately with no response. I called the receptionist who gave me an attitude because I didn't immediately provide my last name and told me it was being taken care of. Another month goes by where I call again, where surprise, no one had actually addressed the letter in the last 6 weeks since it was originally sent. I have to call every single time to check on the status of this. No one confirms with me when or if they receive documents I send and no one calls me to check in or with a simple update of where we are in the process of figuring this out. This place has many one-star reviews for a reason. Please do not go here.

It went from super personalized service where you knew and worked with the people that did your taxes to a completely non-personal operation where you speak to nobody. They make you fill out a bunch of forms, drop off your tax documents (w2 etc) and they do whatever they do and call once done to pick up. Zero interaction which makes me feel very uncomfortable. I would not recommend TRA. It is mystifying to me how someone can buy a business that was successful for a reason and then completely blow up that model. Not improve on it. Not enhance it. Just blow it up.

I would advise going elsewhere if you are looking for a long term relationship with quality assistance for your accounting/ bookkeeping needs. They also are extremely expensive and do not bill honestly.

Though I had many recommendations and referrals for other accountants, I chose to work with Rose because I chose to specifically support a woman and minority owned business. One piece of advice from Erin Benzakein from Floret about hiring a bookkeeper and accountant was that if you feel dumb or awful after meeting with either, then it's time for you to hire a new accountant/bookkeeper. I was having a hard time managing my own bookkeeping and was inquiring about this service. I met with Tara and she was condescending, defensive, and was gaslighting me when I started crying on the call after she went on a diatribe about the importance of bookkeeping. I also disagreed with her statement that "Bookkeeping is the backbone of your business." Unfortunately, Rose was also on the call and there wasn't any intervention. I would recommend Rose Brown only if you were just working with her and Darin, but would stay away if you are on a call with Tara.
