First off, I question the ethics of a funeral home being owned and run by the sitting mayor of the…read morecity. When I was notified of my mother's body being found, someone from Whitfield had already collected her body before I was even formally notified by police of her death. According to people who work in the senior housing facility where my mother lived, this is not an uncommon occurrence. It seems that Mr. Whitfield does ineed use his position as mayor to position his business in a way that is clearly a conflict of interest. That aside, I would like to share my experience with the business as a customer. I dealt with Mr. Whitfield directly, and I can't say it was a positive experience in any way. I understand that we all deal with death differently, but I didn't feel any empathy from this man at all. It was all business with him. At one point, he even referred to "your father" even though it was my mother's body. That lack of attention to detail bothered me. Dealing with them was this agonizing game of phone tag where I ultimately had to get a lawyer involved in order to get my mother's ashes back from them in anything approaching a timely fashion. It took almost three weeks! Almost made the memorial service late. And when I went to pick up her ashes, they had made a mistake on the paperwork that I needed to sign for pickup. Also, a complete lack of sympathy or empathy from them at the time. I cannot recommend against them strongly enough. Learn from my experience, and go somewhere else. Anywhere.

I am writing this review to warn others about the severe negligence and utter lack of…read moreprofessionalism at Hodges Funeral Home. My family experienced an irreversible and devastating mistake due to their staff's failure to follow basic legal procedures. A staff member, Brandon, explicitly checked the state system and verified that my late brother-in-law was not legally married. Despite having clear verification that he had no legal spouse, Hodges Funeral Home still handed his remains over to a woman claiming to be his wife--basing their decision on paperwork that was not even a valid legal document. Because of their complete failure to uphold legal standards and protect the rights of next of kin, his remains are now gone. His mother and his only child have been stripped of the ability to lay him to rest and are left with nothing. Handling a loved one's final arrangements requires trust, diligence, and respect. Hodges Funeral Home demonstrated none of these. I strongly caution anyone going through a loss to stay far away from this place.

Though I have not been directly connected with any planning of the ceremonies, my family members have spoke highly of the ease the cemetery has made of the situation. They do their absolute best to make sure everything flows as seamless as possible while covering the family direct needs/wants for their beloved member being laid to rest that day. Though they have many ceremonies planned each day that are timed, it is important to know that you can speak up if some additional time is needed before the end of your time. It is simple just by a few words or taking your additional time needed by staying at the ceremony sight. They are very timely between the ceremony time and when the person or ashes are placed with there headstone for you to return to visit. Given that I have several more family members who are military members and/or spouses, we will be back in the upcoming years and I hope things remain as seamless.

A mom from a local Zephyrhills Community group asked for recommendations on child care locations. I recommended two places, which I have experienced. I also said my honest thoughts about Zephyrhills Angels and advised I would not bring my child there. A short while after, the owners TEXTS my husband around 9:30PM to ask why his wife was "bashing" her business. My husband texted her back that it was merely my opinion and completely unprofessional for her to TEXT him about it. Today my husband receives a call that my step daughter is no longer allowed at the day care on HIS days but she is allowed on her mother's days. All due to a personal honest review? Do you kick out all of your children for petty things? Do you contact all of the people who have submitted a less than satisfactory review? Totally unprofessional and honestly, okay by us because we were going to bring her elsewhere when we have her over the summer. You did us a favor!
