This place is not just a hair salon, it's straight up a sanctuary of girlhood. From the second you walk in, you feel genuinely welcomed. The vibe is warm, stylish, and so thoughtfully done. Every little detail feels intentional and so freaking cute. What really sets Chaos apart is that it's truly full service. Haircuts, color, lashes, massages... you can come in for one thing or make a whole day of it. The head massages are unreal. I always drift off into a tiny piece of heaven and forget the outside world exists for a minute. The quality of service is consistently amazing, and you never feel rushed or overlooked. The receptionist who calls you back is ultra friendly, which immediately sets the tone. I love the color bar setup too. You can sit, work from home, sip your drink, and just exist there comfortably. When the weather's nice, they open the big garage door and it feels airy and fresh (spring is perfect for that... summer can get a little hot but still worth it). I had to review again. I just couldn't help myself. I absolutely LOVE this salon. This past Thursday was my second experience at the salon and this time I saw Meg. She was a doll. I wanted more blonde without going fully blonde and she absolutely killed it. My hair looks AMAZING. Meg is a little newer and I absolutely love that she asked for help from a more experienced stylist to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. A little bit of humility goes a long way in my book. The amount of talent in this salon is incredible. I fully trust my hair to these amazing women. All the ladies are so helpful, so sweet. They treat you like a queen. Phenomenal experience at Chaos Studio and Spa! I had a 90 minute massage with Danielle at Chaos Studio and my body feels incredibly better. Prior to the massage Danielle made sure to address any concerns I had, such as prior injuries and particular body areas I thought needed extra support. Personally, I have shoulder and upper back pains and Danielle carefully helped improve those areas. I highly recommend choosing Chaos Studio and Danielle if seeking revitalization of a stressed body or just a relaxing experience. It's really a 3 star service review, because they were wonderful and warm. It was just the quality of my eye lashes that will never have me coming back to Chaos. And the owner did ask me to take down my review afterwards,. so I would just be wary of the other 5 stars reviews that happened the day of my review and people that don't usually review often. Yelpers, you know what I'm talking about! So yes- everyone is correct. This is a very cute salon. I couldn't find any parking lot- so I parked on the street. They also don't usually open in the morning and I think they open at 12pm most days. Again, everyone was so nice. I love love lash extensions. I was so excited to buy a groupon and try out somewhere that is closer to my home. My prefer Russian lady is a little far for me, but now experiencing Chaos well worth it. As an Ethic Asian woman, my eye shapes and eye lid are different. So I need a different approach to eye lashes. I usually love a more natural look. Most of the time, I've gotten eye lashes that were individual tailored to my eye length and shape. They only have 3 length here (short,medium,long) and they are already prepackaged. It looks like the fake eye lashes you would get from walgreens (which is find for that one day event or club scene) - but for an everyday wear. My lashes were lapping over each other and they were uneven. I wasn't very happy with them and I came back and the owner redid some of them for me. She cut them down, but in the end the quality didn't match up to the salon to Con's in Berkely . I looked like I was in college again and coming home from a walk of shame. I looked really trashy and I was flying out the next day to host a bridal shower. Unfortunately, these lashes were so overlapped and unnatural looking that I needed to get them removed when I made it back to Boston. So- I will be going back to Con's in Berkely bc this Russian lady is the best. I really wished I liked chaos - because the people really are sweet and the owner did everything she could do to fix it besides ripping them off. Again- the craftsmanship wasn't there. read more

By far, the worst service I have ever had. Made the mistake of trying something new after being with my stylist for many years. I have been spending hundreds of dollars since my visit in December trying to repair the damage that Becca did. My hair was completely fried when I left there, not to mention the "balayage" that she did was just the worst I have ever seen. I had HORIZONTAL black, yellow and white stripes along the back of my head (I'm naturally blonde btw), not even sure how she pulled that off! They offered to "fix" it but I wouldn't trust her to style my dog, let alone touch my hair again. I literally had to cut 7" off my hair after leaving there because she did so much damage. It did appear that there were some stylists there that were more seasoned, but this girl just needs more time as an apprentice. read more

I am VERY particular about my hair because it is blonde. I went to one place and the girl made it look not so cute. So, I started coming to Chaos in the summer of 2015. I literally love coming here. Roya is the bomb.com and she does good hair!!! All of the girls/guy(s) are super cool and friendly. Roya always listens to what I want done with my hair and has NEVER once failed me. She always recommends the best products too! She is super personable and I cannot imagine ever going to anyone else!! In regards to the one review about blonde hair, whenever I leave here my blonde is a cool blonde and extremely light. I highly doubt the person who wrote the review has healthy hair or has even been blonde for 32 years (like I have). So here's the real deal. Don't go to Chaos if you're looking for someone to tell you your crap cut and bad dye job looks OK. It's not personal, but I knew immediately that I was not leaving that salon until I was an exceptional example of their work. Go to chaos to get the best color and cut you've ever had! I'm not kidding. They really consult with you regarding what you want to accomplish, actually formulate your color, custom to your hairs current condition (including previous color), lifestyle and how much effort you want to put into maintenance (zero, for me). I purchased a product, and exchanged it later with no hassle. I discussed my budget, and we worked out short term and long term plan to get where I wanted to be, and within my financial limits. This is the first time I have been to this salon so I had no idea what to expect. It was absolutely adorable! I loved the decor and vibe here. They offer coffee, water, soda, and let you bring in a drink from the bar next door. I will be doing this next time for sure :) Becca was such a sweetheart and did an amazing job with my highlights. My goal is to get to a platinum blonde and she made sure that this visit I was able to get closer to that goal without damaging my hair. I moved to the area a few months ago and have been struggling to find a salon that I would feel comfortable at and I am SO happy I went to Chaos. From the moment I walked in everyone was super nice and I immediately felt like I had been going there for years. Morgan was the stylist I had booked my appointment with and again, I'm so glad I did, she was interested in what I had done to my hair previously, didn't just rush into putting the color on my head but actually listened to me and talked over different ideas of what we could do today but also what we could do at other appointments. Her creativity is amazing and she was extremely down to earth and made me feel like I was part of their family. The salon is beautiful! After I wrote about my first experience, the owner contacted me about it. We went over why I was not satisfied with how my hair turned out and why I was disappointed. I explained that in whole, for the price I paid I did not get what I wanted. She offered to schedule me on her calendar so she could fix my hair, and I agreed to it. I came in for my appointment with the owner and someone showed me the entire hair salon, which should have been done at my previous appointment. The place is huge which I was not aware of at my first appointment. Next, the owner spent time talking to me to understand what I wanted done with my hair. She was very attentive and took great care to ensure my hair turned out great, which it did. I cannot say enough about how great the service is at Chaos. I have never had an experience that was less than 5 stars. I see Stacy regularly and her ability to understand what I would like, let me know what will work for my hair, and turn that into a great color and style is extraordinary. She's amazing. Always listening and a great person to know in general. I've also seen Matt and Roya. Sara is a gem, she will make the appointment for you and is always so very nice to speak to. I will highly recommend Chaos for everyone... kids, men, women, young, and 18 with experience (all of us over 18 ). I had a cut and color with Stacey this week and absolutely love the result! I talked to her briefly about what I had done in the past and what my limitations are with length and color due to my job, she made some recommendations and got to work! She was very friendly and we had a great conversation while she colored my hair. Then came the wash/head massage. This is worth the trip alone, I kind of want to go in every week just for a shampoo! I watched one girl fall asleep in the sink with her feet kicked up and I was eager for my own trip to the bubble bar. There was no rushing it for any of the stylists I watched, and Stacey did not disappoint. I went in with a slight headache and between the head massage and the cooling, tingly oil she used on my scalp, I felt brand new afterward! I was equally impressed with my color when we moved to the stylist chair. It was exactly what I wanted, vibrant and made my eye color pop, and seemed very natural and multi-dimensional. Stacey also was meticulous with the cut, making sure it fell perfectly. Once dried and styled I couldn't stop looking at my hair! It came out even better than I could imagine. I will definitely be a repeat customer. The shop itself is cute and makes good use of the small space. I liked the friendly atmosphere and it reminded me of an old fashioned beauty parlor where everyone is talking and laughing, a good escape from everything for a couple hours! read more

It's been a week since I had my hair done at chaos and I have debated writing this review. The salon is very nice although the seats are not super comfortable for a plus size woman. Nikki the assistant was AMAZING if I ever returned I would come to her. Thanks Nikki I was asked my budget and I said 200 that's EXACTLY what I was charged I'm wondering if I said 150 if I would have been charged that. My hairdresser made little to no small talk or effort to get to know me. Upon returning home my 11 year old mentioned my haircut was uneven and my undercut was sloppy and she nicked me. Had an appointment with Roya this morning to get my roots and highlights done; my hair is fan frickin tastic!!!! I love love love it. I'm such a baby when it comes to my hair and she made it look exactly how I wanted it to be! She listened to me and asked me exactly what look I was looking for which was awesome! The environment of the studio is very unique and very welcoming! I was laughing the entire time just at how personable and how comfortable everyone was including the clients! I made an appointment at this salon because I felt that they lacked pretentiousness, have been in business long enough, and were located on the same side of town I happened to be running errands that day. I own a salon in Detroit but felt like I wanted to be pampered without running into anyone I know. I called and asked for someone who was good with short hair and they booked me with Stacy. For as young as she is, she was so sweet and patient (of course, I'm particular because I do hair also.) Stacy- keep at it. You're an excellent stylist and have the type of personality that will keep you afloat for a whole career. Keep up the good work! I would also like to point out the not so great reviews below are bogus. Seems to me that those color services were done well while maintaining the integrity of the hair. wow, talk about a disappointment. my first and last experience with Chaos. my stylist, Morgan, and I decided to go for a Caramel Balyage color. My hair is not at all what was discussed and they are refusing color correction services. My hair is brassy orange with red undertones, not at ALL caramel. very very disappointed with my services received and the noncompliance and unwillingness to own up to the miscommunication and mistake. I have been going to Chaos for as long as I can remember, 7+ years! As a cancer survivor who lost all of my hair at a young age I am overly cautious about matters of my hair. Jen and her team are not only the best stylist and colorists around, they are also the best listeners who take the time to listen (every time) to all of my concerns!! The salon is also active in fundraising events relating to cancer research which speaks volumes to the kind-hearted and giving nature of this salon. Also, for about the last year, I have had eyelash extensions which have allowed me to skip the mascara EVERY DAY. At first I was very apprehensive about having someone 'mess' with my eyes but Jen and Roya took the time to explain the process and the many length options with me and needless to say I absolutely love them. Chaos is just the cutest salon you'll ever see. It's quirky, it's modern, it's vintage, it's eclectic, but somehow it works. Seriously. Go inside and you'll see what I mean. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, the salon is clean, the atmosphere is great. Erin is one of the sweetest people I've ever met, and an amazing hairstylist. She really listens, and uses her extensive knowledge to come up with an incredible look. She's one of the master stylists, and a Paul Mitchell educator, and that really shows in her work. I usually get nervous before doing anything to my hair, but sitting in her chair, I'm totally confident that I'll leave with great hair. I had an appointment with her this afternoon, and as always, my hair looks beautiful. The highlights she did are soft, noticeable, and really blend well with my base color. I'm in the process of growing out a messed up face frame(courtesy of another salon), and she has seamlessly blended the too short layers with the rest of my hair to give me the look I've been wanting for so long. Not to mention she gives a great shampoo. While Erin is my go-to-gal(and will remain just that for years to come!) the rest of the girls do beautiful work and I would feel totally comfortable having any of them do my hair. If you feel like breaking up with your current stylist, or just looking for somewhere else to go, give Chaos a try. I got a great cut and color from Roya. I went in for a trim and an ombre dye job, and ended up feeling unhappy with the color after I got home (not her fault, she still did a great job, there are just a lot of different interpretations of what "ombre" is) and ended up going back the next day. I was worried it was going to be awkward, but Roya was very gracious and kind (and fixed it for free), and now I absolutely love my hair! Probably the best cut I've had! read more

I have been a client at Chaos for many years now, close to 7 or 8 years now. I like to be "pampered" a bit more when getting my hair cut so I have never been one to venture to a place like BoRics or Lady Janes or anything like one of those. I also used to get low lights in my hair and Chaos was great at doing them. They even got me started on waxing my eye-brows and now it is a must service every time. In the past 9-12 months though, I have watched my love for Chaos diminish. Don't get me wrong, they are a fantastic salon, great at doing color, and from what I hear they are expanding their building and services yet again. Jen the owner is awesome, and just a blast to talk to. In the last year though, I no longer feel that I get the premium service that I am paying a premium price for. When I used to go in, they would start out with washing my hair, and then do a conditioner and while conditioning my hair, I would get a fantastic 3-5 minute head massage. It was sublime. Unfortunately, soon after stopping my low light applications, I stopped getting that head massage. I really miss it, I would almost fall asleep while they were doing it, it was so good. The other thing which has dropped off is the amount of service time clients get with their stylist. I used to be in there for over an hour when I got low lights. When I dropped the low lights it would still take them about 30-35 minutes just to cut my hair as they took their time and we had a conversation together. Now I go in there and I almost feel like I am in a marathon. In and out in 15-20 minutes. I don't have a complicated haircut, it is pretty straight forward. It's a haircut I could easily get at BoRics for probably less than $15 but yet I have paid the premium for years at Chaos for the atmosphere, to feel that I am more than an incoming revenue line item on a spreadsheet, to feel like family, but unfortunately that is not the feeling I get when I walk in the door anymore. Now I just feel like I'm pushed through to get me in and out of the chair as fast as possible. It's not a feeling I like, especially when I am paying $30 for a cut, with another $15 for my eyebrows, plus product, plus tip. I went into chaos salon meeting with a master stylist. I have always cared and loved for my hair and only wanted the best. I thought what I was doing would be the best for me and my hair. I had voiced my wants and concerns especially stating "I just need a balayage touch up" "I do not want any warmth or red or orange" and "it's virgin hair". For the past 10 years I've never had orange or red in my virgin hair. We talked and she made me feel comfortable... like I could trust her with what we discussed. After the process... I was left with bright red bozo hair. She never said that we needed to do a second lift. Or that I needed to come back to blend it blond. She said it was perf and pretty and told me to have a great night. I cried. I called and said it was too red- I hated it couldn't even wear my hair down. I came back to the salon stating that it was too warm and I couldn't wear my long hair down and that it was making me upset. She toned it. Toned it. Yes toned it!!!! Didn't lift. And let me walk out. I cried (again) defeated. For TWO YEARS I WAS UPSET WITH MY HAIR AND GREW IT OUT CUT IT ALL OFF AND NEVER DYED MY HAIR AGAIN. Literally never died my hair ever again after this. I HONESTLY thought long and hard about leaving this review. I felt ugly for two years to the point I didn't want anyone to touch or dye my hair. I called, I spoke up. I never take time for myself since becoming a wife and a mother, but after making comments to my husband that I wanted my hair cut, he bought me a certificate to Chaos for Christmas. I went for the first time December 27th and had a drastic makeover by Jenn Case. I am absolutely in love with my new hairstyle and we even added a bang onto my style today; I am even more in love with it each day.
