There are several older reviews, which were probably accurate at the time. But I was there today,…read moreMay 24, 2017, and this is in great shape. Excellent greens and fairways, many maintenance folks working on the course. Not at all dried out, lush fairways and roughs, in most cases. There were some dried out spots along the sides of some greens and fairways, by 80 or 90% is good grass. Really a remarkable change from when I played here a few years ago. This has been renamed Black Birch golf course, was originally Banner Lodge golf club. I grew up on this course, learn to play here over 50 years ago. Then it was just a nine hole course. Eventually expanded to 18 holes. Played there regularly for many years, and it was never really well-maintained. Went back this week and I was extremely surprised at the improvements that have been made. Highly recommend anyone in the area to give it a try. Greens were in great, great shape. Many improvements, such as several well laid out asphalt cart paths. Realigned several holes to make them fair, but challenging. Cleaned out many areas of brush and undergrowth. Ponds are well-maintained, with good landscaping. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Connecticut.

All the same length and so high that if you hit down the middle you will lose your ball. The tee boxes are laughably bad and the greens may be worse than anything I've ever seen. Putting is a guessing game of which crater and dead spot will kick your ball out of line. If I lived across the street and they said I could golf for free any time I wanted to I would never golf again. I won a pass for 18 and a cart for 2 people at a tournament and I threw the certificate away because it wasn't even enjoyable. It takes a lot for me to review something but this made me so mad that a course could have the balls to charge any money to play here.
