We spent a solid 2 1/2 hours paddling the winding waterway, marveling at the birds, turtles and wildlife in general. Very peaceful and surprisingly scenic experience. It's basically a landing park for kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and some fishing. Not many amenities are present; basic ones, porta potty, a picnic bench, parking spots for about 20 vehicles. There is a cemented walkway, a short one to the edge of the park in the front. Today, the first day of "summer" Memorial Day Weekend, was packed with paddler boards, canoes, kayaks all enjoying the brief sunny warmer days we get in the area.

This is a great place to have a picnic while you watch the Canada geese, ducks and kayakers, or people fishing in the bay. The other downside is there is no shade anywhere near the picnic tables...or anywhere. However, being Rochester, it's not like Rochesterians are overrun with sunshine and warm weather 12 months of the year. Hard to believe, but in a few months Irondequoit Bay will be (at least) partially frozen over and the wind will whip across the bay and freeze dry anything in place. But that has its own beauty, too.

First he has and knows everything about the equipment and will get you perfectly situated for what you need to have an amazing time out on the water. What really shines is his personality though... Pete is a giver and is generous with his time, expertise and enthusiasm for paddling. He not only runs the shop, but helps get you in and out of the boat and safely in and out of the canal. He loves what he does and he loves helping you get out and enjoying the canal. His enthusiasm is contagious. He is simply THE BEST!!! We had the best time this morning and can't wait to spend many days this summer out on the water with Pete's help. Just be brave and go. It's the most wonderful feeling!

The water was clean in some parts and not in others. There were a few large branches we had to avoid. We got a quick good lesson on kayaking before we went into the water; it was very helpful. Our kayaking journey was absolutely beautiful. We passed a whole lot of ducks. They really kept us entertained. We passed a cute park, went through some gorgeous neighborhoods. Overall, there were a lot of trees on the shore by the canal so it felt very serene. I would recommend kayaking here! :)

Near Rochester, right off a highway, Corbett's Glen is very easy to get to. It's located inside a…read morequaint neighborhood (expect to walk behind houses at points along the hike), and is very well-maintained. We started on the wood-area of the park, walking toward the creek and water falls at the Glen itself. The round trip of the hike was just a sliver more than 2 miles but it was an easy hike, with just two sections of up/down hill-climbing. Very beautiful and picturesque, with an amazing tunnel under the Amtrak tracks. Very much recommended for a short, morning hike if you don't mind the drive out.
