Went to Korea spent nine of the currency went back to exchange back to sterling only to be told that one note was not real Now that's a puzzle as all the notes I had came from this shop and having spent none of the currency to be told that they be not e is not legal is outrageous. They point blank refused to exchange the note in question even though I had the receipt to prove where they came from. When I challenged that they must have a record of the serial number of notes they have and dispense to people they still refused to take the nite back. Trading standards here u come. If I could go zero stars they would have got that. Take my advise exchange your hard earned money somewhere else.

When I pointed it out he said no refunds and pointed to a tiny sign at the corner of the counter that said there was a 15% commission but while I was in line I overheard him telling customers that they were not charging commission. I even found a receipt on the counter to point it out to him. The exchange rate was horrible too but I needed money. I emailed the company but no response. I figured there a heartless corporation takin advantage of first time travelers and elderly people.

With one day to spare as well...(this must be what it's like to be a responsible adult...ish) Thomas Exchange had one of the best rates in London for Euros, and although they had a long queue, it was still worth the wait. Avoid at all costs…read more I called them up on Thursday 1st October and spoke to a lady who told me the exchange rates. I asked her specifically if they would buy my 1 and 2 Euro coins. She said yes. I arrived with my notes and coins and the man behind the counter bluntly and rudely stated "We don't accept coins". I told him I spoke with a lady on the phone the day before who said they did. Then another man, who later revealed himself arrogantly to be the owner, said no one else worked there and he did not care who I called and spoke to and insisted that he would not accept my coins. He then told me to "Go to Marks and Spencer's, I am not changing any of your money here.", whilst accusing me of being rude. Go to Euroexchange on Charing Cross Road instead. They are friendly, have a good rate and they exchange coins. Heck, go to Marks and Spencers like the guy told me, at least they will treat you like a human

The only thing was that Thomas Exchange tended to have its branches located near main rail stations, which meant that, until this year, it didn't have a branch open in Canary Wharf, which didn't work so well for those of us who tend to work long hours out here in the Docklands. Thankfully, Thomas Exchange spotted a gap in the market, and opened up a branch here in May. Its location at the "other" side of Canary Wharf tube station may not be too convenient (i.e. the side that doesn't lead to all the shopping places) but it's not too hard to get to as long as you're walking overground. Just one last thing: remember to book your exchange online so that you get the best rate possible.
