This place has very good exchange rates and I use this company every time. The advantage of this branch is they have a high stock of the more obscure currencies and so I do not have to wait for them to get it in stock. I was served by Sudeep who was very helpful and most of all he pointed out when I thought I had given less money than I actually had. This of course is greatly increased my trust and makes me even more a regular customer. This branch is so good I actually travel to go to it.

The jerk Muhhamed which probably smells his crusty farts behind the glass booth added a 15% commission without consent and gave me a folded receipt. He acted like he was really helping us out and I dropped my guard...Im sure karma will get the best of him. Horrible first experience on dealing with a currency exchange company. When I pointed it out he said no refunds and pointed to a tiny sign at the corner of the counter that said there was a 15% commission but while I was in line I overheard him telling customers that they were not charging commission. I even found a receipt on the counter to point it out to him. The exchange rate was horrible too but I needed money. I emailed the company but no response. I figured there a heartless corporation takin advantage of first time travelers and elderly people.

They don't keep stocks of currencies apart from Euros and US Dollars, so you have to preorder in the morning to collect in the afternoon for anything else. They've always been quick and efficient whenever I've dealt with them, although sometimes there are queues during the lunchtime rush at the Canada Place store (there are two in the Canary Wharf mall). On one occasion they didn't get the delivery of the currency I wanted, but they said if I came back the next day, they'd give it to me at their wholesale price, which is more than fair.

The only thing was that Thomas Exchange tended to have its branches located near main rail stations, which meant that, until this year, it didn't have a branch open in Canary Wharf, which didn't work so well for those of us who tend to work long hours out here in the Docklands. Thankfully, Thomas Exchange spotted a gap in the market, and opened up a branch here in May. Its location at the "other" side of Canary Wharf tube station may not be too convenient (i.e. the side that doesn't lead to all the shopping places) but it's not too hard to get to as long as you're walking overground. Also their debit card (which is a Debit MasterCard with PayPass) comes with no foreign currency fees within Europe. But be careful when using their ATMs with a foreign card for withdrawals. The Metro Bank ATM (operated by Note Machine) will offer debiting the account in your home currency. Do not accept this as an unfavourable exchange rate will be applied. Let your own bank do the currency conversion instead so have the transaction carried out in GBP (choose "Continue without conversion").

While 6 people were behind the counter, only 2 were helping customers. Very frustrating! Leyla only exacerbated the problem when, after one of the 8 people in line complained that no one was working, she decided the best use of time was to explain that "they ARE working" and point out what each employee was doing...instead of helping anyone. Needless to say, I promptly switched my bank to Nationwide (I have a referral code for a free £100, hit me up!) and have never looked back since!
