If you need a place to exchange currency on Saint Michel, this is the place for you. Yes, this is pretty much the only place. Though this is only money exchange location in the area, that is not to say this business is not good, because it is. The individual who owns this establishment is very friendly. He speaks English if that is your only language. Plus, his exchange rates are very fair. This location is very easy to find. They are about two blocks away from the train and/or Metro station. They are easy to find as they are right across the street from the Holiday Inn. They have a large exchange sign on the front of the building. You simply walk inside and tell the owner how much money you would like to exchange. You pass it under the glass, and that is that. They give you your Euros. Very easy. One of the interesting things I find about Paris is that there is not a lot of places to exchange currency in the city. As mentioned, this is the only place to easily exchange currency in this part of the city. This leaves these exchange businesses with an advantage, as they do not have a lot of competition. This business owner does not take advantage of the situation, however. You will find very competitive exchange rates at this business. Overall, easy place to exchange money. read more

From my experience, this place wasn't as bad as the previous reviews. It was conveniently located across the street from the hotel I was staying at. My transaction was pretty straightforward. Dollars in exchange for Euros, at the current exchange rate, which changes daily. Yes, the place charges a transaction fee, but it wasn't as much as one of my credit cards charged for every single credit card purchase. It is unfortunate that people like this exist in the world. OK, I may be naive, but I didn't expect to be robbed!!! First of all, they give you a terrible rate (I know, I should have checked first), THEN have the thieving audacity to add almost a 10% rate onto that! If you are looking to exchange currency, go somewhere else, this place will steal you blind. I came here to exchange dollars after checking rates at several offices, this place seemed to have the best rate, but as soon as I gave the person working there my dollars, I noticed that the rates board had two different rates, an A and B rate, I asked the guy why there are two different rates, he pointed to the small print on the board that the rate A $1.385 per 1 Euro was for people exchanging 5000 Euros and higher and rate B $1.544 was for any amount less than that..this is a total scam, because no one with that much cash will exchange it in a small shop like this one. The guy was still counting my $900 when I asked him to stop and return my dollars, he ignored me and kept entering the transaction on the system, I told him that I wanted to cancel the transaction, he pointed at a small note on the glass saying that they do not cancel transactions!!!??? unbelievable!! when he gave the receipt, it not only shows a much higher rate than I expected, but also an additional 63 Euros in extra fees. There must be laws regulating this industry which I will research, and even if there aren't, this place is a big racket, avoid it and go to a bank or use an ATM. read more

This place ripped me off over 20 years ago and it is unbelievable they are still in business - well I guess not so unbelievable since they false advertise and charge ~140% of the going exchange rate. I will never forget the woman behind the counter screaming at me when I demanded to cancel my transaction. Put them out of business folks...just use your ATM card. read more

I highly recommend going anywhere else but these crooks. Their name should be Master criminals not change master! They sucker you in by giving a rate that is competitive, but don't tell of these outrageously high transaction fees. When I told the agent "thief" of her mistake in calculation, she then told me of the fees, and gave me a printout. I told her I wanted my dollars back and she refused. I have no idea why I'm taking the time to write this as I doubt seriously that anyone would check reviews before changing currencies on a trip to Paris, but if just one person reads this and avoids getting absolutely raped by these thieves, I will be happy- well, happier. On June 1, 2017 my wife and I were shopping in Paris and we found a very talented woodworker and wanted to buy two items from him. He did not accept credit cards and I did not have enough Euros to complete the purchase. Change Master was less than a block away. I went to the window and asked, "What is the exchange rate for U.S. dollars to Euros?" The man understood the question and answered, "1.14." I had exchanged currencies at several places during our trip and I knew there would be a service charge for the exchange and since I had been treated fairly at all the other exchanges, I assumed this transaction would be no different and I gave the man $400. He gave me 263.05 in Euros. The correct amount should have been 350.87 and then even after a 40 Euro service fee, I should have been given around 310 Euros. I immediately said that I did not agree with his charges and I told him to cancel the transaction. He told me that once the transaction was in the computer, it could not be reversed. I again stated that I wanted the transaction cancelled and he GOT UP AND WALKED AWAY FROM THE WINDOW! Please, please, please do not use this company. They are thieves. They charged me the equivalent of 1.52 Euros per Dollar. Unbelievable! The only good thing about this transaction is that I only gave him $400. Valuable lesson here. Change your currencies before you go on your trip. Your bank will gladly do it for you with just a couple of days notice. read more
