Cannot even begin to describe how horrendous this place is. The moment I walked in, I was met with chaos, filth, and total incompetence. Roaches and rats were running around like they owned the place, mold was everywhere, and the general hygiene was nonexistent. My soup had actual dirt in it. The staff were completely unprofessional, ignoring basic standards, and one employee even touched me inappropriately. The situation spiraled into a confrontation because nothing was handled correctly, and it was genuinely unsafe. This restaurant is a disaster. If you value your health, safety, and sanity, do not step foot in this place. Management clearly has no idea how to run a restaurant, and the conditions are disgusting beyond belief. I wanted to give Chang Thai & Pho the benefit of the doubt after seeing all the negative reviews, but the food was disappointing overall. The Tom Kha was way too sweet and the Pad Kee Mao was really bland. The yellow curry was tasty, which is why I gave this review an extra star, and the fresh salad rolls with shrimp and peanut sauce were not bad. I ordered delivery online, and it arrived just slightly outside the delivery window, which wasn't bad at all given it was a Friday night around 6pm. I really wanted to like this place, but the experience was disappointing. First off, a lot of the food came out cold, and some of the drinks we paid for never even arrived. The wait time was longer than expected, and when the food finally came, nearly everything was oddly sweet--even the dishes that were advertised as spicy. If you're expecting heat, you won't find it here. We also found a hair in one of the dishes, which is just unacceptable. I asked for no lettuce and still got it. Some of the plates were pricey for the small portions they gave us. To make things worse, they didn't offer us water while everyone else around us seemed to get some without asking. Located a block away from the famous "Twin Peaks" cafe, this place has an interesting vibe. They have a full bar, live band area and dance floor. At first I was skeptical just how good the food could be. I ordered the chicken pad see ew noodles. My friends got the pho with beef slices. This is an excellent place for great Thai and Vietnamese food. We're long-time residents of the town and hadn't considered it for a while, but we're both so happy that we did! It's now in our list of local restaurants in our bi-weekly rotation of to-go and dine-in food. Tonight my wife had the spicy rice w/ shrimp because she knows what she likes. I try something new every time. I've had so many things on the menu, and let me tell you, they are well-prepared and full of flavor. And if they're not hot enough, there are a half-dozen options on the table for adding more heat. Tonight I had the vegetable rolls made with rice paper and lettuce leaves, and they were delicious with the spicy-sweet peanut sauce. And I had the "glassy noodles" soup, which is very similar to Pho. We also had some perfectly crisp spring rolls (egg rolls but w/o eggs). Just so so good. Best kept secret in North Bend. Super cute ambience, he has karaoke too! The Pho is the best around and the owner will literally cater to you! When my mom was in her last days he made her the best chicken fried rice and upon her request he made tomato beef with pan fried noodle. With restaurants closed we've been getting acquainted with our local nomming joints offering delivery and takeout and this has become a very solid thai option in the North Bend area. They are located right on the main street in town and only take twenty mins or so to get your order put together. The husband of mine has ordered from here several times when I've been traveling but this was my first time and I was quite pleased. I was excited to find out that they don't put soy sauce in their peanut sauce therefore making their chicken satay gluten free. The chicken was really moist and well seasoned with creamy peanut dipping sauce and an accompanying cucumber salad in sweet vinegar that was delicious. I also ordered the penang curry with shrimp which was flavorful and spicy. The husband had his usual yellow curry with chicken which was apparently delicious as he had no leftovers. Ordered takeout and tossed nearly all of the order in the trash...even in a state of abject starvation - trying to muscle it down it still proved to be basically inedible. I called to complain - twice - once for the missing "required" rice and second after the horror of opening the rest of the containers. I checked my acct today and they only refunded a portion after saying they would comp the entire thing. The final insult to injury. Soup to nuts this sad, dry, tepid excuse for nourishment was comedically bad. It's not clear to me how this restaurant is in business. This wasn't just "off" but a clear example of food that demonstrates the "chef" doesn't know even the basics of cooking (and is incapable or unwilling to understand what should actually be served to humans). If I later found out this was prepared to sicken or injure I wouldn't be surprised. If you're craving Thai food after coming off the mountain - famished and exhausted - reject your instincts and run away! We were craving pad Thai so we were very excited to see a Thai restaurant in the little strip of shops/restaurants in the North Bend area. Very empty inside (only one other customer) but granted, it was 1:45-2pm. Inside, it was clean despite being an older, kind of grimey building.. but it was very festive! I liked the lights and Thai-feel. They also had a stage inside which makes me think this place livens up at night or on weekends. For food, we ordered the traditional Pad Thai. It came out quickly and looked nice. On a scale of 1-10, the food gets a 7. Good but not great.. but I'm probably comparing to our amazing Thai restaurant back home. The staff was super nice. Came in for lunch and it's a mistake. I'm still mad at my partner for picking this place. What on earth was he thinking!?? The BBQ pork is dry and chewy. And served on chopped cabbage that might as well came from the bin. It's so sad looking that Costco grilled chicken is 1500 x better. Tomyum was like a bowl of lemon soup. All we taste is acid from the lime and tomatoes. There were no Kaffir lime leaves, no lemongrass or seafood aroma. And the worst was the squid on fire (?) dish. It was just inedible. A few pieces of overboiled squid with wilted cucumbers. If you're starving please drive to the nearest Costco (prob Issaquah) and get 5 hotdogs and a pizza. You can thank me later. UPDATE: 1 day after posting this review, the owner sents me a PM and say "Yes the food is bad but you ate it anyways". For the record, we ate whatever we could stomach and left the plate of squid barely touched. And decided to pack it home to offer it to the ducks at our back yard since that plate costs us $12! In hindsight we shouldn't have expected to eat any decent Thai food in the middle of nowhere. FULL DISCLOSURE, I grew up in Asia and we've travelled to Thailand numerous times (northern and southern Thai), so my review is based on the food I've experienced in that country, not just because I have "Food Channel type" expectations of how the food should taste or look. TL;DR - I was shocked at the poor condition of the building & that they served us rancid food. We will not be back. We should have known something was off when the hallway was strewn with toys. There was a stone-faced woman with a crying baby and a dejected looking man, and a kid running around in the kitchen. I asked for the restroom & the building had obviously been repaired by the owners - poorly & not professionally. They were out of TP and the bathroom was dirty. The toilet was leaking water on to the floor. The food was overpriced, and my curry came out with rancid coconut milk & potatoes. His garlic stir fry was similarly small-portioned and somewhat off. He has a cast iron stomach so he switched me dishes and we ate quickly. When we complained to the lady, she tried to argue with us over the quality of the food, and wrote "20% off next time" on the receipt. Not that we'll ever use it. We walked out to the sounds of the baby crying again. We thought we'd struck gold by finding a pho & thai place all in one, but based on our experience just can't recommend the place.
