Well... Windsor Castle DID ITS THING in wowing our group of diners. Every dish was on point, perfectly executed. We went in on a Sunday specifically to order Sunday Roasts. They all come either thyme potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, cabbage, leeks, peas and roasted root veggies. Chicken Roast- 4 1/2 stars , juicy and moist. Lamb Roast- 4 1/2 stars - served either red wine au jus , lovely Fish and chips- 5 stars, lightly battered and the best Rib Eye Steak- 4 1/2 stars medium rare , great taste and tasty peppercorn sauce Rosemary & parm fries with truffles- 5 stars, will rock you! Buttered asparagus- 4 stars Dark chocolate torte- 5 stars Lemon tart- 4 1/2 stars This is a super pub not only to eat but the ambiance is sooo cool! I will return!

There is curry night and grill night and the ongoing 2 for 1 burger special. It's really easy to get a drink and a good bite in here (the curry is always hot and not too oily) for 10 pounds. I mostly like this pub for sentimental value and the value. The atmosphere itself is quite dark and pretty pub typical, although there are big windows in a some sections to help make the pub brighter.

The drinks are extortionately…read moreexpensive for the area (i.e. expect to pay over £5 per drink for spirits and mixers), and there are no cold soft drinks at all, they are all on shelves behind the bar, and the fridges are used only for alcoholic beverages. I had expected this to mean that a soft drink would be cheap, but it is not. You are served a mini bottle (less than half a pint) of warm coke and charged about £2 for it. The staff do not seem bothered about the nasty warmth of their drinks, I just got a shrug and a kind of "that's just how it is here" response. The food is probably the redeeming feature, being reasonably priced and tasty hearty fare, if a little bog-standard pub grub (but then it is a pub!). The only problem here is the seemingly random amount of time you wait for it. Sometimes the food comes quickly, and other times you find yourself asking what has happened, and after some embarrassment on the part of the staff, find that they have forgotten the large group of you all sitting there looking hungry. The interior is clean, well maintained and comfortable, with a large number of tables and chairs so you can sit down to eat. It is however very dark inside, not so much a problem at nights, but it seems very dark compared to outside during the day, making it a bit weird to eat lunch in. The pub shows sporting events on big screens, which are much larger than usual pub screens, though if you aren't there for the sports, you might want to avoid the pub on these occasions as it becomes very loud and crowded at these times, or you could sit outside and watch the world go by on the tables they have out on the street. Overall, not somewhere I go unless I can't force an alternative!

You can get some good ale here with a few choices from Fullers. I have not eaten here but I am told it is good. My friends thought it was fantastic and was especially fascinated by a couple of locals with a dog sitting enjoying their pint. They told us the pub has been around for years and nothing has been modernised inside. We had a good afternoon here. I recommend this pub for its character and its ales.

The barman was a chatty friendly bloke and it would seem really enjoyed his job - which makes a difference. There is a good selection of drinks on sale here and they are happy to mix it up a bit if you ask for something "off-piste". It is very well looked after and everything is clean and tidy. You can hire this place out for occasions and the staff will work with you on what exactly you want. There is a patio area to the rear, which is lovely and quiet and you forget that you are near a main road. This place doesn't technically have it, but their braised beef & ale shortcrust pie comes very close, and it's one of their specialties. Creamed potato, greens, rich gravy... comfort food done right. £19.50 and honestly worth it, especially on a cold, wet day. The ambiance really welcomed me in: warm, cozy interior with the fireplace going and a charming vintage Christmas aesthetic. Add in friendly people and genuinely warm service. Exactly the kind of pub you hope to stumble into on a rainy London morning. I'm hyped.
