Jack and Alex are very talented conductors for the Chandler Symphony. The concerts are fabulous!

The only downside, and one that will keep me from going back, is the seating is horribly uncomfortable. The space between the arms is about 16", so if you have a girth of more than 15", be prepared to squeeze in. If you have a large person next to you, like I did, it is almost impossible to sit for any length of time, so be prepared. If they ever change out the seats, they should make them 22", which is normal for good theater seating.

At the onset before the performance we were told that this would be the last concert of the season. The Chandler Center is going to get a renovation and probably will not be open until late October or early November. This Center houses a large venue and on this Saturday night it was pretty much a sold out crowd. When Pat Metheney came out he didn't waste any time and just started playing. The crowd was really into the music and so was I. The place has provisions for the handicapped and does allow for drinks during the performance. I really don't know what else to add other than the place is impressive. When it opens up again in the Autumn maybe take a look at what they have in the concert venue. I guess we got lucky to attend their last concert of the season.

We purchased tickets for the Thursday, January 8th show. We arrived a bit early on the day of the show. It was our first time at Hale and we wanted to be prepared. We were directed to a side entrance where they usually have their music shows. I knew the theatre was small, but was still surprised to see how intimate it was. I didn't mind it. The theatre sells concessions before the show and during intermission. We didn't purchase any. The show was phenomenal! The band and the singers were very talented and put on a fantastic performance. They nailed the original voices, which is not easy, and even hit some of the high notes. It took us back to the disco days of the 70s. We can't wait to catch another show at Hale Center Theatre!

Parking 5/5 We enjoyed diner at the Liberty Market and found great parking across the street and left it there for our short walk. Downtown Gilbert 10/5 The Town of Gilbert has done a spectacular job of its downtown revitalization planning with the it's building repurposing and new development architecture requirements and marketing that has attracted some great companies making it a destination for fun, food, entertainment and shopping. It's always nice to take a bench for a bit to take in the beautiful Gilbert tower at night while enjoying the last of our gorgeous Senorian desert weather before summer! Complimenting the tower is the Theaters markee, brightly lit and a throwback to the days when entertainment and theater were central to an evening out. Venue 5/5 There are really no bad seats as the venue is well designed for sound and a more quaint experience. Performance 5/5 The "Always Patsy Cline" production was excellent. The show artfully told her story, a humble performer who gained national notoriety but was taken at a tender age of 30 in 1963 from a plane crash on her journey home from a performance. I became a fan of hers and other country artists of this period after moving to Arizona. This period was full of names, voices and lyrics that for me epitomized the charm and perhaps the innocence of early America my parents enjoyed and a little before my time. Downtown Gilbert nightlife my friends-SYOY!

On the first day I was disappointed that the staff was not very warm but was optimistic about how much fun lessons, rehearsals and, most of all, performing could be. As the week went on I got frequent complaints about how stern the staff was, disorganization and how most of the day was very serious, competitive and very boring. My disappointment turned to absolute dismay towards the end of camp when I stopped by during rehearsal and heard how gruff the administrators were with the kids (the group I signed up for had kids as young as 7 in it). They stopped the production every few minutes for lectures that I personally would have found humiliating if they'd been given to me and no praising whatsoever during the time I was there. When I leave my child in another's care this is the exact opposite of what I hope for. On the night of the performance the show started late, didn't include all of the kids' names in the program and instead of being excited my kid was relieved that it was over and return the following Monday wasn't required. I don't plan on supporting this company in any way in the future.

Rubberband Dance - Every So Slightly. Very progressive show and when we got back home and I paid closer attention to the other show options offered on their website, realized this is prevalent from show-to-show. Performers, male and female, came out dressed in jumpsuits, the same you'd see 1) pilots of military fighter jets, 2) farm workers, 3) etc. wear. They were unisex by design as were their undergarments (tops and bottoms) and by the end of the performance, after having stripped themselves of the jumpsuits they each continued their routines with those same jumpsuits tied using the legs and arms of the jumpsuits into a bundle wrapped around their heads and faces. If you've ever seen the movie The Elephant Man, that is what they all resembled. Although The Elephant Man did not perform in their unisex under garments. Just wasn't prepared for that, finding it disturbing. Children (minors) were present in the audience.
