Audie did a superb job guiding me to the right grade of materials, explaining the underneath cushion work to be done, gave me an estimated date of completion and the cushions were completed as described and EARLY! I realize this is probably a simpler job than most upholstery work but to be treated well, respectfully and on time, how can I not give Audie's Quality Upholstery anything BUT FIVE STARS??? I'm attaching before and after...

Audie did a horrible job on the seats for my 58 Karmann Ghia. I told him I wanted the original…read moreseat covers duplicated and I pointed out details I wanted to retain, like the thin piping and not using any hog rings. Audie assured me he could make them exactly as original and he would make the piping from scratch, so it would match the original covers and he would hand sew all the side corners and bottom of the backs. I made an appointment with him and dropped off the restored seat frames and left him with the original seat covers to copy and sent him a few photos of the seats before the covers were removed so he could copy the hand stitched sections. I also provided him with special order vinyl from SMS farbics in Oregon to match the original vinyl. Audie said it would cost about $2k, so I dropped the seats off on October 6th and he told me they would be done by the end of the month. I called back in November and he said he was almost ready to work on them. I called back in early December and he told me he would get started on them. A week later he told me they were done. It looked like he had slapped them together in a week. He used fat off the roll piping and didn't make it from scratch. He used hog rings to hold the seat back on. He put a seam in the middle of the front panel and on the top of the back, these seams were not on the original covers. There was a lump around the top of the seat bottoms and wrinkles around the base of the seats. I don't think he looked too closely at the original covers. After all this he wanted to charge me $3,800! I showed him all my issues and he told me he would redo them. I called SMS and ordered more vinyl which cost $1k to replace and the dye lot was slightly different and I already had door panels made using the original vinly. At this point I couldn't trust that he would do the job right and I couldn't loose another $1k in vinyl. I told him I wanted my $2k back that I had already paid him and I would eat the cost of the vinyl. He told me if I removed the covers and brought them back he would refund me. I removed the covers and brought them back and he told me he didn't have the money, but would in two weeks. I went back to his shop every two weeks for three months and he never had the money and wouldn't refund my money. I told him he could even pay me back in installments. Nothing. Now I'm out $3k and still need to get the seats covered. You might say that the seats looks ok, but they are not what I asked for. I was completely up front with what I wanted and I provided original seat covers to duplicate and he promised that he could do the job right. In the end all he did was a quick slap it together job to get it done and wanted to charge me double for poor work.

If you read my reviews or follow me on Yelp you know I hardly ever write poor reviews…read more Unfortunately, this last Thursday I got that winning lottery ticket. A month ago I called up Exotix Designs to schedule a side mirror wrap. I inquired about a specific day and time and a male who identified himself as Eric over the phone scheduled me down for the selected day at 9:00am. The day before my appointment I called Exotix Designs to ask about a price estimate, which again Eric picked up the phone and assisted me with an estimate. Very cool, I was excited for the appointment everything was lined up and I had enough cash to pay for the service. I pulled up to Exotik Designs approximately 15 minutes ahead of the appointment time. Mind you this is a Thursday morning at 845am. The business was empty. Not one light on. I understand that sometimes life happens, stuff pops up. I took a photograph outside the business to add to Yelp in excitement. Just after 9am I called Exotix Designs phone number. After many rings, Eric picked up the phone. I reminded him of the scheduled appointment he booked me for. Eric told me he was running late and to just drop the Porsche keys in the key box. Eric continued to tell me he wouldn't have a time estimate for job completion and that his 2-3 employees were also busy and he was busy running a business. I was pretty dumbfounded with the phone conversation. First off, I've never met you Eric and no way in hell am I dropping my wives Porsche off at your shop without checking you out. Second, how does a legit business owner who wants my business blow off a scheduled appointment. I'm not someone who just trusts people who blow me off and let the Porsche keys fly to a key box without knowing the person who's touching our property. To wrap this up, reading one of the other 12 undetailed Yelp reviews for this business I get the vibe that Eric doesn't really care about his customers and his last phone conversation with me confirmed that. I'll gladly take my business elsewhere. Eric never even followed up with me over the phone to reschedule. His loss. If you are a car enthusiast who values service and respect for one's time I'd stay as far away from this shop as possible. The best part of this entire experience was Exotix Designs business hours on their front door listed Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and on their website! Knock knock...nobody's home! One star review, I won't ever be back!
