This place is cute, sweet (literally!) and an easy day trip from Atlanta - only about an hour away. Perfect for anyone, young or old. Just two things you need to know before you go: **Note that the farm is EAST of I-85**. This means if you're coming down from Atlanta, take a left turn off the exit, and it will be about a mile and a half up the road on the right. The map on this page and in Google maps is correct; the map on the farm's Facebook page and Apple Maps is wrong! They both show the farm west of the interstate and we spent some time driving around there trying to find the farm before trying the other side of the highway.** [glad we did or we would have missed out!] **CALL BEFORE YOU GO!** Every few days or so the orchard needs to close down to allow more berries to ripen for picking -- this is common for all strawberry patches. If you're driving any distance, you don't want to come all that way just to find you can't pick. If they're open, I advise arriving early so they're not over-picked the day you arrive. Current hours (as of 5/7/18) Tues, Thurs, Sat 10-6 Sun 1-5 Or by appointment Now for the experience itself: Utterly charming! Once we did find the farm, we had a lovely time. There were plenty of berries. It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon and there was a lot of space; no crazy amounts of crowds. The owners were just as lovely as can be. You collect a basket at the start and fill to your heart's content. (note: the darker the berries, the sweeter they are!) You pay by weight; I got a ridiculous amount of berries for only $10. Note that you'll be bending down a lot - strawberry plants are low to the ground, after all. But it's not a strenuous workout. Ripe berries will pop right off easily! And the patch is literally right there at the entrance where you park your car, so no need to worry about walking a long distance either. I went with two other adults and we had a grand time. There were also families there with children and they were having a blast too - so definitely pack up the kids for a day of fun out in the sun and come here.

I have been driving all over different places to go find muscadine that I can eat the inside part of it, and I finally found this place. The owners were very nice, friendly, and welcoming. The drive to get here was pleasant, and it was a very easy drive for me. I look forward to coming back here again. The first thing my husband did was ask about the peaches. Of course that's the reason he went there. My search was for the peach preserves like my great grandmother made. I didn't stop there, I saw many condiments, salad dressings, old fashion candies. They also have a dessert eatery inside. Customer service was very insightful. Because we didn't go for the activities or petting of the animals, I can't write much about that. Overall, on my next visit I will try the famous MiMi's pound cake which they rave about. A fun fall date!…read more Southern Belle Farm, located in McDonough, provides hours of wholesome fun and free parking. My wife and I arrived on a warm October day to enjoy the pumpkin patch and U-pick flowers. We arrived in the afternoon, but there was plenty of selection and nothing was "picked over." I paid $16 for a quart sized plastic vase for my U-pick flowers. They sell gallon sized buckets as well. Scissors and water are provided. Be mindful of bees in the field. They won't trouble you if you don't trouble them. There is an area in the back for you to arrange the flowers; I took full advantage of this because this trip doubled as a photo shoot. There were all types of people enjoying the farm; IG girls, families, even one couple using a wagon full of pumpkins as a baby announcement. Pumpkins range from $5-$20 each depending on size and breed. A nice young man named Luke helped us corral our pumpkins and carry them to our car. I didn't know they offered that service, but we tipped well. If you run up an appetite, they have a snack bar with fritters, ice cream, and lemonade. I'll be back next fall!

They offer u pick blueberries, they make their own goat cheese, eggs, and honey. They also sell a lot of organic and sustainable vegetables and grains. They are also really nice and will take time to educate you about what they sell. We first went there to buy our own bread making supplies and equipment and they took time to educate us about the process. They are just off of Redland Road so they are only about 15 minutes from some parts of Lake Martin. Call ahead to make sure they are open but Saturdays are a great day to go all year. Let the kids feed the goats as you get your own locally made organic food.

Welcoming you to this sub'untry enclave is multiple goats, loads of chickens, a couple of great pyrenees, and a few miniature horses; perhaps they are ponies, I'm not really sure about that. After you park go visit the animals. After all you might later purchase some of their brethren. That's right kiddies.. those lovely chickens you are cooing to lay oodles of gigantic organic*, free-range*, all-grain* diet eggs. And those eggs are spectacular, which is a good thing at $5 per dozen. Country Gardens might even have some of those pastured* chickens frozen in the freezer waiting to be purchased, cooked up, and eaten. They also have loads of grass-fed*, chemical-less*, meat "products" like young goat, cow, or pork. There is even raw milk fresh from Country Gardens own dairy down the road. If that doesn't completely rock your socks off, and it does mine because I am one of those crazy bitches who wants to know exactly how many friends my dinner had while alive, what kind of music it liked to listen to, and what it's favorite hobbies were (Portlandia), then be prepared to get excited about the large quantity and great quality of their garden products. Oh yes. Not just a farm...but a nursery....for plants...lots of plants. All the plants I saw here looked great. Prices were good. I didn't really notice a difference in what I would have paid at big box nursery vs here. On top of the fresh meat and eggs, beautiful plants, and live animals, they also have a gorgeous vegetable garden and during the summer you can often purchase fresh*, organic*, obviously local* vegetables here. They have a CSA that delivers to Peachtree Road Farmers Market. So anyhoo to sum up the review, this place is great.
