Back when I started penning these here reviews, I never imagined a freaking global pandemic would…read moreimpact my experience at a business. But here we are. Two Covid-related issues shaped my impression of RAKS: * Overpriced, inflation-gauged plywood, definitely not their fault. * Literally no masking whatsoever, throughout the office, in mid-December 2021, at the height of the Delta variant and a state-wide mandate. I mean, they coulda at least attempted to post a sign on the door, or something. After you place your order you'll drive into the lumber yard and a forklift will arrive to load you up. The place felt very Unionized, a vibe I appreciate, so if you're a Union shop, RAKS, good on ya. I'm a sucker for supporting local alternatives to big box home improvement stores, but in this particular case, the big box right up the street -- Lowe's -- did a far more exemplary job of complying with a global health crisis than this particular alternative.

I purchased 8 4x8 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood. It turned out to be total junk. As soon as it got…read morepainted the top layers of the plywood started to buckle and de-laminate. I have never seen anything close to this crap lumber. I also pruchased 12 12 foot 2x2's that came twisted like a dogs hind leg. Also 12 12 foot 1x4's that were even worse. half of this junk was unsalvageable. Never..ever purchase from these bandits again. So much for RAK's previous reputation. What has happened to this old line company????? It has gone to pot. Pete

How does walking in to have keys copied end up with an employee screaming at a customer to, "get…read moreout of her store?" How does a store go from eliciting words of praise one day to the worst customer service experience of the year? I went to Raks to have some keys made. Simple, right? If only that were true. I presented three keys for duplication. The rep, Josh, advised that he may not have a blank for one of the keys, to which I responded, "leave it out, I have copies of that one." Unfortunately, Josh was new and fixated on making all three keys. Once again, I asked that they leave out the difficult key. As a customer, I have a right to decide what I want or don't want to buy. I was irritated, but polite. Fast forward to checkout. The price was more than expected for a couple sets of keys and a length of chain. I asked the cashier to double check. She told me that the difficult keys were $4.99 each to which I replied, "I told them to leave that key out." The next thing I know, the cashier, 'Louise,' is repeatedly screaming at me to, "get out of her store." UNACCEPTABLE. It's not her store. If it were, she wouldn't be in business very long screaming at customers at and chasing them out of the store. I've spoken to management. I've contacted Do-it-Best. I am hopeful that Raks will make this right. How, you may ask? I would like a personal apology from Louise. Anybody who so freely and openly verbally abuses another human being in the course of business should, be held accountable to face that person in apologetic remorse. In this case, I'll settle for feigned remorse. Review will be updated upon resolution.
