We learned a champagne is not a certifiable champagne unless it is produced in this region and also made only from 3 grape varieties - chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier. We got to see their cellar as well as smell the grape varieties, and then also concluded the tour with a tasting of two of their champagnes - a clear one and a rose one. Both were nice and it was a first for me to have a rose champagne.

After reading a few articles that listed Lanson as having one of the most personal, in-depth tours in the area, I settled on them and booked a tour for 4. When we arrived, there were 10 people including ourselves, so it was an intimate tour experience. I was beyond happy to see that the tour was just as in-depth, engaging, and educating as I had read. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgable and answered every question we had. We walked through the entire maison and got to see the vineyards on site. Visiting in late August, the vines were full and ready to be picked in the coming weeks. In addition to the wonderful tour, their grounds were extremely classy and sleek. The tasting room and outside lounge area were both beautifully designed. We chose the "Discovery" experience which was $26 each and the tasting involved Lanson's Le Black Label Brut and Le Rosé. More than elated by our experience and their champagnes, we bought a few bottles at their shop.

They offered a safe place for us to store our luggage so we didn't have to drag it around, and even though it was cold, we were given a very thorough tour through all the grounds, vineyards, and cellars. Our guide was fun, knowledgable, and spoke perfect English, and the house itself emulates class and luxury while still remaining an accessible price. The tour was small and personal, and our guide made it fun and informative despite the cold and wind chill. Will definitely try to come back if I can visit Reims again!

Best decision ever The people who walk you through tastings are very knowledgeable in champagne region as well as in European winemaking overall. They spoke French, German and English.....and probably more. While we were visiting, there was a group of Dutch folks and a group of Germans - nice diversity of patrons, nicer diversity of wines & we left there with multiple cases.

NOTHING I stayed for 2 nights (very much off season) and found the rooms to be historic, comfortable and very nice! It's like you're staying at a rich old French relatives house - tasty breakfast, lovely spaces and great wine. Location wise you're in the middle of Champagne Row. Bar Brut is across the street and highly recommended. There's a small tasting room, and breakfast is tasty. I loved my stay here!!

Our tasting host was so friendly and knowledgeable which elevated the experience. The variety of champagnes were delicious and it was so fun with the addition of the "sensory" aspect of the tasting to try to identify and pair the subtle aromas in each. I only wish it was a little longer, being only one hour and totally private it felt a little rushed at the end so they can bring in the next tasting appointment. But we did take a bottle of our favorite champagne home after stopping by their shop!
