The caves are vast and the history, and the craftsmanship of the riddling ismind-boggling,. It is nothing like you'll see in Napa Valley or in the western world. The caves here hold millions of bottles. The history of the family, the champagne house architecture and of course the champagne makes this a fun and cultural experience. Now, shipping back to the U.S. is allowed, just be prepared to pay $$$$.

One of my goals when visiting Reims was to DRINK ALL THE CHAMPAGNE. Sure, I could have ponied up…read more€30-50 for cellar tours and tastings at the big houses but let's face it, I can drink Tattinger and the like at home. I was really interested in trying small producers that don't export. That's where Tresors comes in - it's a tasting room coop with 27 small, local wineries showcased. Can we talk about the interior? So clever! There's a giant map of Champagne on the floor and each producer is numbered - pull down their bottle from the ceiling (see my pics) to learn more. I love that each winemaker is pictured - we were given a small booklet with more detailed info on each winemaker as well. Each day there are 8-10 bottles open for tasting. You can taste by the glass (price varies) or do a flight of 3 for €20. My husband and I each did one so we shared 6 wines from a light blanc des blancs to a more intense rose maceration. My favorite ended up being a 2008 vintage - it was perfection. I can't say enough about how great our sommelier Laure (hope I spelled it right!) was! She thoroughly explained each wine and the overall process that the vintners go through. My only small sad is that they really don't ship to the US (due to state specific regulations) so plan to perhaps taste a bunch here and perhaps grab a special bottle or two. Prices varied from €20/bottle to MUCH more but I can tell you that I truly liked each wine I tasted. This shop was one of the highlights of my vacation - it was everything I was looking for. They're close to the train station so definitely do not miss them!

You're in Champagne!…read more But for connoisseurs and enthusiasts just wanting more variety, this shop run by an association of 27+ independent grower Champagne estates, just cannot be beat. You'll be able to purchase bottles (and cases) of bottlings seldom seen back home, and more importantly be able to taste maybe 6-9 open bottles among 180+ cuvees they carry at any given point. It's a great opportunity to learn a lot about different cuvee styles and the growers behind them, some of whom have an intense cult following among enthusiasts. All at reasonable prices and among super-friendly staff, the shop space is totally lovely too. Extremely highly recommended.

After hitting a large house beforehand, having a more personable experience was just what we needed! Upon arrival, it reminded me of what I am accustomed to in CA wine country, small, but quite personable as mentioned above. Greeted by the wonderful staff and sat at a table with a sample tasting flight. We were walked through the entire flight and given insights into the wine making process, which was great. All of the bubbles were spectacular, and they gave bonus pours as well with their high-end wines, so a super plus in my books. Price point, very affordable with it being a much smaller winery versus the other large ones in the area. Finding it as well was quite simple as it was located just slightly out of downtown Reims, so walkable is easily done! While not the largest, they left maybe the best impression on my visit!

He then handed out small bags of freshly made pastries and croissants to me and the other 4 people on the tour (along with hot coffee). The drive out to Champagne took a little under two hours. Our first stop of the day was in just one of the many hundreds of vineyards. Trong educated us on the growing, tending and harvesting of the grape vines - it takes around 2 years of training before you are allowed to work in the field. We then drove to a local champagne maker where we learned how the champagne was made, bottled, labelled and shipped - this also came with a complimentary tasting of three different champagnes I took a full day tour of Reims/Champagne on May 18, 2026. It was a really We then drove into Reims where we sat down for a mandatory two hour lunch - the entire City shuts down during this lunch period. Following lunch, we explored the Reims Cathedral where many of the French kings were crowned. The Cathedral itself was destroyed three times by the Germans - The Franco-Prussian war, WWI and WWII but has now been completed restored with private funds only. After visiting the Cathedral, we then drove to the Pommery Champagne House which features a champagne museum. We descended several hundred feet into the Caves (which run for miles underground). Pommery claims to store, 23,000,000 bottles of Champagne in its Cave. Following our visit to the Museum, we then have another champagne tasting before heading back to Paris arriving in Paris around 7:30 PM (just in time for dinner!). This was a very enjoyable and interesting day. I now feel that I have doubled my knowledge of champagne and have another 98% to go. Champagne is stunningly beautiful - vineyards stretching to the horizon. It is hard to imagine that this was on the frontlines of the trenches during WWI. I would highly recommend this tour. We had a tour of the caves. It was visually interesting but hard to hear because they have a lot of…read moreaudiovisual art in the caves and it's often loud and echoing. Our tour also included a vintage taste, but I must admit the way this was handled was pretty disappointing compared to most wineries (you just get deposited at a bar and handed a glass). The tour didn't feel very tactile or really about the wine, more the process and the caves. It would be better without the music and with multiple examples of Pommery to taste rather than one (admittedly pretty good, but not fantastic) vintage.
