The shop includes a large basement, filled will carpets, bed frames, furniture and is somewhat of a maze, as the basement is made of up multiple rooms. The main floor is filled primarily with furniture and framed pictures, although not all items would fall into the category of being a true antique. Most items are affordable, as this is not an upmarket shop, but one that caters to the casual antique store browser. Given the lack of antique shops in Ottawa, A Fine Things Antiques is a welcome addition to the local antiques retail scene.

The space is a bit smaller than I expected from the outside. I found the prices high and the items were mostly just regular clothes. I didn't see any unique pieces. I like consignment shops for unusual pieces, like asymmetric styles, oversized zippers, grommets, origami pleats, etc. I didn't see any at Trove. They do have a mix of luxury brands and more contemporary brands. They had a cute Burberry bag. Staff greet you when you enter, but pretty much leave you alone to browse, which I definitely prefer to salespeople who follow you around asking if you need help, lol. It's not quite my cup of tea, but don't let that deter you from visiting. I always enjoy having more fashion choices in the neighbourhood. Street parking only.

As someone who doesn't do well in such conditions for long periods, we often ducked into stores to enjoy their air conditioning while satisfying our shopping curiosity. Trove Fashion was one such business. It was one of two consignment stores that we dropped by. It's located in Hintonburg, a pretty trendy part of the city. I will admit that I don't visit consignment shops often. However, I do enjoy browsing to get style ideas and see what folks have previously loved that may be a valuable wardrobe addition to others. My first thought when I saw the available fitting rooms was how stylish they were. The full-length mirror with beautiful lighting, a side table with accents, and a chair made it feel like you were at home, in your bedroom, trying on items. So classy! The shoe section was pretty decent. There were a few size 11 shoes that looked cool. Looking at these shoes and sandals was almost a premonition to get a new pair of sandals on this trip! As you'd expect with clothing, some items were cool and classy, and others were articles that I would never touch with any pole within arm's length. I liked a cute burnt orange skirt with rounded edges. It had a lot of character. Prices vary, but I find that they run on the higher end at this store. There were a pair of burgundy high heels that were going for $225. To be frank, I don't own a pair of shoes that go into triple digits. It was enjoyable browsing around. The quality of these refurbished antiques far exceeded anything modern that you could buy in the same price range. This is heirloom quality furniture ,beautifully crafted from high quality hardwoods and veneers and lovingly restored. Any one who visits my home always comments on how nice these three pieces of mid century furniture look and I would highly recommend this store .

Frank is amazing and I have been going to him for about 3 years now. I have several luxury watches…read more(Tudor, Hamilton, Ball) and when I need a bracelet adjustment (e.g. removing links from a metal watch bracelet), I will only trust Frank to handle my luxury watches. I also have two specific examples of how Frank saved the day: 1. I have a pair of earrings made of semi-precious stone with a thin gold wire running through a tiny hole drilled in the top of the stone. The gold wire on one of the earrings wore out and snapped. I took it to an upscale jewellery store for repair and they said they couldn't do it because the hole was so tiny and the wire was so thin - they didn't have wire small enough to fix it. I took it to Frank instead. He took one look, said that yes, the wire was tiny, but he could special order the right wire if I was willing to wait two weeks. He fixed it and it's been perfect ever since. 2. I received a vintage, 35-year-old quartz Mickey Mouse watch by Lorus. It didn't keep proper time, as it lost 20 minutes every day, despite having a new battery. Brought it to Frank, he cleaned it, serviced it, replaced the rotted gasket, and it now keeps perfect time. Don't be put off by his modest storefront - it's not the jewellery he sells that's the draw, it's the expertise of his repair service that's important. There's nobody I would trust more with handling my expensive pieces for day-to-day minor repairs or bracelet/strap adjustments.

The Short Version: Cool vintage shop with lots of retro…read morestuff. The Long Version: Big Kimmy's Hoard House is full of retro treasures. Despite its name, items are well organized and it's not like those vintage or antique shops that literally look like a hoarder's house. They have primarily vintage clothes and knick knacks. They have a small display of VHS tapes that looks like it once belonged to a video rental store. They had really old sewing patterns too (remember Butterick, McCalls, Vogue, and Simplicity patterns?). They had super random stuff like Slimer (from Ghostbusters) in a Santa hat, and a gigantic pickle sculpture. Bottom line: really fun store to poke around. I'm addressing my disappointing experience shopping on their website. I am a tea lover and love…read morecollecting limited edition tins as welll. The website shown a lavenderish pink tin but when I ordered two of them, it came in white regular Sloan tins. The store should update the photo of the item, instead of misleading the online customers into buying and thinking that's what they'll get. I get this feeling that the store purposely do this in order to get rid of their last stock. Because after I bought the two tins, the item is now out of stock. I might be wrong, but if that's what it is, what a shame way of doing the little business that seems proud of their way giving back to community. Before I made my order, I knew this is a little store and I read their return policy. I write to the store regarding this issue, but I never get any reply. I don't think a simple apologize is too much to ask. Is this because your online customer less important than your local customers? Is it because this issue too small to deal with? I had much better experience shopping from much smaller stores and their professionalism is top notch compared to this. As customers, we shouldn't get less treatment regardless the item/the amount we buy. I'm very disappointed!!! I don't recommend shopping online from this store.
